I have been getting good results with a cotton ball wick on my protank. It's been running on the same rebuild (wicks only with the stock coil on a new head) for around a week and I am rather happy with it. I didn't do the boiling of the cotton or anything like that and replacing the wick was extremely easy. The most time consuming part of it, in fact, was getting the last few silica wick fibers out before replacing with the piece of cotton.

Here's the link to the tutorial.

This is for a T-3, but the wick replacement is done the same way on the Protank head.

I did this without even ever trying the stock silica wick on a brand new Protank, so I cannot speak to the airy draw that some have experienced. With the cotton wick and and the tank tightened down on the Provari, the draw isn't too loose at all. No leaks either.

Quick bit of advice if you live some where hot.
I live in Tucson and it was easily over 100 degrees in my car where I left my Protank causing it to leak a little.Im using about a 60pg 40vg blend or higher so Im assuming PG thinned even more causing it to leak a little.Blew it out and wiped it down and no problem after that.
