i have the Kanger subox mini and just ordered and received some Kanger 0.5ohm Clapton coils. I put one in my tank and it seemed a little hard to get it screwed down but it did go in. Filled the tank, primed the coil and fired it up. Problem/concern #1- seems like it takes several seconds of inhaling before it actually starts to Vape and problem/concern #2- the Omhs on the digital readout fluctuate from 0.5-0.6 when I hit the fire button to make the readout light up. What's up with all that?? Anyone have any advice or having the same problem??

What device and wattage are you using them with? The fluctuations in the reading could simply be the coil being between 0.5 and 0.6 and your device only measures to the nearest 0.1ohm. If you are not getting burning or dry hits, I'd suggest this is the case as if it were not making a good contact, you would usually experience massive fluctuations in vape quality.

As for the coils themselves, I got a 4 pack a little while ago and found them come alive at around 40 watts through about 45-60 watts. Cranking the wattage helped me a little with the reaction time of the coil - there's a lot of wire in there to get hot.

They gave me a lot of vapor, but flavor was just OK - about the same as a standard OVC 0.5 coil, but boy do they allow you to suck some e-liquid!

I have found the sweet spot for them is 45 watts. They are definitely going to take longer to heat up than the standard subtank coils. And Im on my second or third Clapton coil and they have been a slight pain to get seated over the chimney. That brings my to my next point. I have found they don't last long at all at least compared to the Atom coils.

If you bought yours in a four pack I believe you have the Atom coils, kanger doesn't sell there claptons in 4 packs.

I don't think I'm going to like them. They don't seem like anything special really. Too bad I bought two 5 packs. Guess I can use them in a pinch. Live and learn lol

Well you're going to have to find the wattage where they "come alive" and then see.
I've got a pack of the new round SS shell NiCrome 0.5s and I agree, it's a little disconcerting how they need to be pressed in to get past that new o-ring... but I take it that's the new normal.

They are what they are... are they terrible? Not what they should be?
Are we becoming vaping's "wine snobs"?
Should I put the rum away?
:p

I also shop mostly online and if you're looking for the 5 pack stainless steel coils, I got mine from vapesupersavor.com reasonably priced. If you're referring to the gold gclapton ones in a 4 pack, you can find them at atomvapes.com as well as vapordna.com I've not used the gold ones.

Your last sentence made me lol

Maybe that is the new normal for these coils. I'm glad someone else experienced the same issue. Well not glad but you know what I mean.

Sorry I was late to come back (still drinking)... I was elsewhere explaining how the Net should be run.
What... don't we all do that? o_O

Ok... I did think it weird how the new heads are so damn reluctant to catch the threads.
It must be a new O-ring. I just hate forcing a bit of kit.
Returns because of damage? "Ain't nobody got time fo dat"

I put one in my NEBox and it's not bad. I have it at 45w and its ok. Flavor is good, vapor is ok. Nothing special to me. Maybe a little more vapor than the regular ss coils. I put one in my mini, but wasn't hugely impressed, but it could have been the juice. They're ok, but not really slam dunk imo.

Eta: I haven't had any leaking issues from them in either my mini or ne.

I was looking at these myself.. they were over at *NEW* Kanger SSOCC Coils (Subtank Nebox) - Kanger Coils - Kangertech - Tanks & Coils last time I checked. So what exactly are the main differences between these Kanger Clapton coils and their OCC's again? If they are juice hogs, hopefully I can find them at one of my B&M's that will let me just try out one.

What are the major differences exactly? Using more juice and better vapor?
