Pack the wick in your coil tighter then you would do on your kayfun. If it feels to tight, it might be just right. Then, what I do, is diagonally cut the tails down to almost a point
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

This. Spitback is because your wick is too thin inside the coil. Whenever I pack mine tight, I never get spitback.

Ordered some spare parts from Kanger last week:
52851.jpg

I'll be able to keep enough RBAs ready for the wifey so she can stop using OCCs so much. Thought it may be a good idea to add some extra mini rba insulators to the order just in case.

I liked the newer AFC on the STmini I got my wife last week that I also bought a spare base thinking it would be the same. Silly me, yet another variation of the STmini base. This one has the small AFC slot like my original STmini, but also has the metal sleeve behind the AFC slot like the newer one. *sigh* $8 down the drain. I have 3 different bases for the same tank. Thanks Kanger.

I just finally read through the entire thread I placed an order for the mini this morning and well I think I now have a good idea what to expect. Definitely subscribing to this thread though. [emoji106]

I still have some reading to do as I've obviously only got as far as your post. I currently have a Joyetech eGrip with an RBA base which has been pretty sweet. I picked up a Derringer clone for taste testing and now am looking for a backup tank to pair with my I Stick 30w. I'm guessing you feel this tank is a solid choice? After experiencing the RBA in my eGrip the fact that this tank has the option for both is very appealing. I'm more of a mtl hitter plus I've read some issues with this tank leaking. What do you and others think? Is there another you'd recommend over this one for a mouth to lung guy? I only say that cause I've read this can fit both styles but seems more aimed at lung hitters. Thanks guys.

I also have egrips with the RBA bases which I use when I'm out and about (for size). I have three ST Minis I use at home (amongst other things) with the RBA bases, and I love them. I'm exclusively MTL, and they work fine for me. The flavor is very good, and they're extremely simple to build and maintain.

Last Thursday I rec'd my order from Sweet Vapes. Purchased 2 iStick 50w and 2 SubTank Mini's. iSticks are great - got a sleek silver and a gorgeous blue for the wifey. For the STm's; I noticed that only one had the black spare orings (other was red), both had different bases, and out of the 4 OCC coils only one was reading near 0.5 (actual was 0.6 on ohm reader) - the other three were all much higher; reading between 1.1-1.4 (even though two were marked as 0.5).

Anyway.... coming off of using ProTank2's for the last couple years and rebuilding the heads using 30g (~1.8 ohm +/-) and cotton yarn for wicks.....the STM didn't blow me away. Sure doesn't seem to be two or three times better (comparing price points from PT to STM).

The vape is totally different which I expected from reading much of this thread, but frankly maybe I expected more....especially in the flavor department. I've been using 50-60 vg juice for the PT's and knew I wouldn't get a huge increase in vapor production unless I went to higher VG. We still have the PT2s so not expecting to change juice ratio anytime soon.

Is the stock RBA a 0.5 ohm? Should I be expecting this to be a warm/hot vape as well? Note, I've never used anything this low before - but will test it and the sub-ohm OCC coil this week/weekend. Is the warmth due to the lower resistance of the coil or placement? If so....then maybe when I rebuild, I'll have to go to a slightly higher ohm coil as the hot vape was slightly irritating my throat after awhile. So...for cooler vape, higher resistance or twisted or other options???

Also...prior to me experimenting with wicking the RBA, how much wick do you all use? Is it apprx 50% wider than the coil or more/less if using something like a JOC pad or is it multiple strands of yarn, what? How do you get a consistent amount each time once you've found your perfect amount (measure, eye ball test)? I know each has their preferred amount....just looking for a starting idea given where I'm coming from. NOTE: I'm not unfamiliar with rebuildable decks, I had a REO for some time but wicking that is an entirely different monster, LOL.

So, to end, I guess I'm not blown away by the STM but it worked well and didn't leak. So, I'll keep working with it until such time that it's not improving greatly over my current PT2 setup.

Appreciate the comments.

I am getting a bit more vapor, but it's not thick billowy clouds like some which is most likely due to my juice choices (again 50-60 vg for tank usage). I was using both tanks, two different juices and both had OCC coils reading 1.3 ohm; vaping anywhere from 14-18 watts. I'm not a cloud chaser, so this doesn't bother me. As stated, I was expecting more flavor compared to my PT2s (which most say mute the flavor).

So, I'm not complaining, just an observation. Maybe things will change when I get to the RBA deck or recoil. Dunno.

Also, upon cleaning the tanks, I found one glass comes off relatively easy...the other, I can't get to budge! Uuugh.

Again our experiences differ :p
I definitely get more flavor out of mine, using the occ heads even. I usually vape it around 25 watts, so maybe that's the difference. The stock coil worked great, but I've been rebuilding the occ heads with 10 wrap non spaced coils on a 3mm bit, with 26 gauge kanthal. They come in at 1.4 ohms. Easily handles my 25 watt preferred vape. I've found the flavor so improved I can cut my juices in half with straight vg and still out perform all my previous kanger tanks in flavor :p
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

I was on the fence for some time regarding the whole sub-ohm clearo market, but I finally pulled the trigger on a Subtank mini this past weekend. All I can say is WOW!

Thick billowy clouds of vapor! Running the stock .5ohm coil at 30w on my Flask, and I couldn't be happier. Never expected to get dripper performance out of a clearo. :D
