Aside from being a weekend warrior dripper
I am the KST convert.... Love this RTA with the Sig 100w+... For working week, I simply recoil, re-wick, refill, forget it and it gets me through an entire day.

With the purchase of the KST mini today, to compliment my new IPV mini (for business travel and back up) I can't wait to see how the 2 new items work out.

I ordered the subtank mini Saturday for my MVP 20w, after seeing a pic of someone else's it didn't look to pretty with the over hang so I just ordered a istick 30w for a decent price. I see the top is made to fit the bigger tanks lik.e this but haven't seen a picture of the 2 together. Anyone running this combo that could share a picture? Thanks

Using the Kayfun lite 2nd edition along with the Provari P3 I've found great flavor and vapor. I feel the Kanger sub mini will provide a equal vapor on the P3. 20 watts for me is plenty and I'm use to the exact voltage or wattage the P3 puts out. I've heard Kanger will be making a P3 version to take advantage of the P3 connector.

Do you have a photo of your new drip tip?

That was my one complaint about my mini.... the drip tip got very hot!

For those trying to tighten up the draw, try to get a bit more density out of the mini, I'd like to mention a veteran vendor and outstanding pyrex tank/tip producer you might want to have a look at...Tips - Spectrum Tanks. They have an interesting assortment of colors for tanks and who knows, maybe some soon for the Subbies. The diminutive pyrex tips are great for mini and nano. Perhaps awkward on the sub as a bit narrower than the stock. But it will get you a nice pull on either.

Good luck all.

:)

So I've been playing with two of these for the last four days, one for myself and one for the wifey. I was holding off on stating and forming any set opinions until thoroughly tested and played with, but I must say I'm very impressed for an RTA kit designed for beginner-moderate experienced vapers!! Both myself and the other half are rocking these and having great vaping time, and I normally run a dripper! That is until very late last night when I decided to try and use the RBA. I checked, and re-checked my coil and connections with eyes and a meter, but the Vaporshark (my everyday device) continued to say "check atomizer", like there was no atomizer there. I finally gave up and went to bed (it was already very much past my bedtime), figured I'd play around again tonight to figure it out. But what your saying above MegaVap makes sense. Could you post some pictures of the modification you made with the o-ring please? That way I'll attempt to make the same or similar adjustment to make it work.

Thank s in advance

I did try to push the brass center pin up on the base of the Mini, but the VaporShark still said "check atomizer" not sure why. But here is a pic of the little black o-ring in place. Doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference but it got mine working..

I have had a mini & nano running on an iStick 30 for about 4 days now. All I can say is WOW. I have been trying to get into vaping since 2005 (back in the blue foam dart cart days) Nothing was ever consistent enough to get me off the stinkies. Through the years every time a game changer would come out I would grab some gear and juice and try again. Nothing was ever consistent enough. I wanted to pick up my device and get my fix just like I did with a cig. I THOUGHT I had it licked earlier in 2014 when I got an MVP 2 and some Nauties. Don't know what it was but one day everything would hit perfect then the next day it was like I switched from Camel filterless to Marlboro ultra lights. SO they ended up in my ever growing pile of dead obsolete vape gear.
Now with a sub tank and an OCC 1.2 at 18.5 to 19 W on the iStick 30 it has not failed me once no matter what I do. Pick it up and it is always there just like it was the day before. And the flavor is like nothing ever before. I DID try drippers but they were too fidgety for me. The Sub Tanks are almost as good as a great RDA build running at peak performance. I am a flavor chaser though so YMMV. For the price of this kit it is definitely a must have for ANYONE looking for something better.
BTW: Anyone having the hot tip or hot vapor issues: For me I just open the airflow more and/or pull harder. I actually vary how fast I pull air during the drag to maintain the temp at where I want. I also usually do direct lung hits which usually last for less than 4 or 5 seconds. In that length of time these tanks can fill your lungs with a good dense flavorful vapor that is all I need. No more long 10 second sips for me. I should also mention that I am a hopeless chain vaper and the iStick lasts me all day (about 4 or 5 tanks on the Nano with a 1.2 OCC head)

ALSO - We need to get these things in the hands of as many smokers as possible NOW before anymore of them buy a cigalike and are ruined forever. SO SPREAD THE WORD ON THESE THINGS!!!

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. ;-)

I'm going to have to take some time tomorrow to read through this thread as I plan on purchasing the Mini sub. I heard about bad insulators so I'll need to know which ones are the best. It appears the build is similar to the Kayfun which makes it seem fairly easy.

I don't own the subtank mini... YET!! But i can already tell you that building on the RBA section of the subtank mini is going to be even easier than building on a kayfun. I've watched a rip trippers build on the subtank mini with nicrome, all you have to do is trap the leads between the lips on the side and the screws,in other words you no longer need to wrap the leads all the way around the screw and struggle to keep them under, unlike a kayfun.

My wife's mini came yesterday. Pulled the RBA section out to look at it and it has the tan insulator. It was late when we finally got to relax so I just filled her up some juice and primed the stock 0.5ohm coil. The vape is really nice and smooth. I think she's sitting at around 28w on her Sigelei 100. The only thing she did was took her drip tip that she's been using since her Aerotank and threw it on.

Edit: The only down side to this tank is it's going to end up costing me more money in the end...because now I have to buy one for myself :p

It's even easier then it looks. I use dual coils in the big Subtank and what a pain it s to get 2 leads under those little screws. I hope Kanger and others adopt this style in the future.

Comparing the OCC with the RBA, it appears the OCC shaft is a bit longer. Your o-ring looks good to it give that extra length. I will give it a go next time my RBA is out. Thanks

Hey guys, I haven't gotten a chance to catch up, so the brown insulators is a thing we should be emailing Kanger for?

Also, I've only had my mini since last Tuesday but so far I love it. So I've been messing with the RBA section and I'm not sure if I bought some janky Kanthal or what, but when I do 5 wraps of 26 gauge on a 5/64's drill bit (1.98mm) I get .3 ohms. When I do 6 wraps, I get .4 ohms. Shouldn't I be getting around .5-.6 ohms? Setup is on an IPV Mini and it usually reads .1 ohm lower than actual.

Deck or could my kanthal be shoddy?

has to be the kanthal right? all other stock builds read just fine.
Hi Kromium,

The Ipv mini is most likely reading too low (Mine does it too).

If the Ipv is showing around .4, it'll still fire.

If I recall correctly I'm running 8 or 9 wraps in my rba and I see .7.

Will check at the next rewicking - currently trying to see how long I can stretch my Puff cotton.

Are all subtank mini being sold now have the updated insulation? I just ordered one and I am worried that it will have the old insulator. Thanks.

You should get a clear or brown insulator. Kanger support told me just yesterday either is fine. My clear one is holding up fine.

You're absolutely right, this should even become an industry standard!! I can imagine how easy building dual coils will become. Now i want all my RTAs modified like this, specially the Lemo :D

I ordered mine last week from myvapestore and it came with the new tan one. I have not had to use it yet though since the OCCs are just awesome. I plan on rewicking my OCCs and sticking with them instead of using the RBA. The RBA has restricted juice flow and less air compared to the OCCs. The OCCs are dead simple to rewick and should handle my high VG better anyway.

I suppose if I wanted to run twisted wire or something I MIGHT use the RBA. Other than that I am confused why folks even use them at all.

I'm getting the same airflow from the RBA as the OCC. I thought I'd just stick with the OCC's too for simplicity but out of curiosity I gave the RBA a try. Super simple and I actually think the flavor is a touch better. Amazing tank either way. I just clicked the check out button on a 2nd LOL!
