My ipv mini noticeably under-performs when compared side by side with my istick 50w. Also, Unless I switch the IPVmini to PWM mode it cannot down regulate the .5 ohm coil and dry hits happen due to 30 some odd watts getting dumped into the STM. The istick handles Bucking chores with ease.

That's why I get the giggles when I hear peeps say they are running .5 ohm coils at 18w and they're getting burny hits. The STm likes power levels in the 18-30w range but to keep a regulated mod from having to buck voltage requires builds above .6 ohm for 30w and above 1.0 ohm for 18w. But hey, the manufacturers are giving us what we asked for right? Subohm coils. Another great example of "one size does not fit all" and why we should understand our battery's capabilities before selecting res for our builds.

As a general rule I never make my mods buck voltage; most do not perform well there. All my mods do better kicking voltage so I build coils with high enough res to force them to kick up the voltage at my perferred wattage for whichever tank I'm building for. Due to space constraints of the build deck this usually results in using higher res (thinner gauge wire) which has proven to be a winner in my experience. Even more so with twisted 32g ie. more wick-wire surface contact area with the higher res. Wick it and kick it!

I've been saying that since December when I got the ipv mini. Its not just yours, they are underpowered at the same wattage vs other boards, even crappy DNA 30 clones hit harder than that sx130 board at 30w.

I get annoyed with people that don't understand their mods, especially when they are using one that doesn't have step down and insist they are running their .5o clearo at 15w, and think I'm a jerk for telling them they are not at 15w, more like 30w.

I use the SX mini, it has the YIHI SX350 chip and performs wonderfully with my STm at 0.5 on up to 1.0 ohms (that is the highest resistance I have used on it except for about 20 minutes on the 1.2 OCC which I put away in favor of the RBA).

The SX350 chip also has 3 power settings; soft, standard, and powerful. These settings can really change the way the coil is initially powered and alter the vape in interesting ways. It is extremely accurate. Love this thing.

Super nice Mod D! High priced but built like a tank. Pretty nice functional capabilities. I recently bought 2 Smoke M50's (upgraded to 65w and passthrough) both for $165. They work great for the money. Thinking about trying a DNA 40 with TP and Ni200 but still researching the possible health risks of vaporized nickel. Maybe I just worry too much..after all, I did smoke cigarettes on purpose for 28yrs.

MVS has the STM RBA decks in stock. I just ordered a spare, now I need another stm!

I smoked for 35 years ... but it was an accident. LOL

SX mini has the SX350 mini in it actually. ;) Easiest way to notice is to look at a SX350 you can see the display is a bit different than on your SX mini.

I hope I'm not being rude or anything, am I the only one interested in these vertical coils?
Did I offend anyone for any reason? If so I apologize.
I think I figured out what the issue was with vapor production falling off, the cotton swells and restricts airflow under the coil, pop a bit down the middle to open it back up and BAM, back in business. Now to figure out how to keep it from doing that and I will be a happy camper.

No I thought it was neat and I've been interested in your progress. Me personally, I'm better off sticking with the Horizontal coils until someone else gets the kinks out of a vertical build. Plus, I've never seen you be offensive in any way towards anyone.

I've been interested in your progress too, now that you're back on the bandwagon G. Truth is I have never had much luck with verts in protank variants. Probably the limited airflow. When you gave up on your vert the first time I said to myself "I knew he would give it up; everyone does". I've seen peeps give up on them with every tank I've owned. Lemo, Billow, Orchid, Kayfun, Protank......

Most complained about lack of flavor, hot vape, high power requirements or shorter wick life but they ALL complained about the PITA factor for wicking....and almost all have jumped off the wagon.

Your build seems to be working better than most so I'm keeping tabs on it.....

Ps. Lowering the set height of the coil until it almost touches the deck will keep the wicking from sneaking underneath. Allows for a taller coil too which will increase wick-wire contact area....one of the primary reasons for a vert build according to peeps who have tried it.

If nothing else G, the purple/violet coil in your pic looks killer.

Ok, I am afraid I am starting to taste the infamous "monkey a$z" in my RBA. I thought at first it was vapor's tongue, but then I put the stock heads in with the same juice and it tastes totally different. I even rewicked my RBA build -- same thing. I am tasting monkey a$z.

Weird question, but can any of you that have experienced the fine taste of the monkey, give me an idea of how it tastes to you?

That color may be due to the camera phone and editing, it was the only camera I had available at the time and quality is lacking so I Photoshopped it for clarity.. It is also only half ramped up in that pic, full burn showed up as a bright orangeish white blob on the old Photon I used to take those pics :\

What color are the insulators in your RBA? White, Clear, or Tan?

As I said my SXmini has the SX350 in it....please check the specs if in doubt. I also get the SX 350 screen on it when I power up.

"The SX Mini is the hottest variable wattage mod at the market right now. Featuring a sturdy as ever stainless steel body, tightly machined parts, the killer SX 350 chip, and a shape so comfortable you'll have a hard time putting it down." Coral Vapes, Yeti Vapes, etc.

The SX350 mini and SX350 are actually 2 different boards.

If you notice, it says it's powered by the SX350 mini board. The mini board has the different layout that includes the Joules display as well as adding the 3 different power settings.

The SX350 board is limited to just the "gravity Sense" menu. The display is also different.

No biggie, just thought I'd point that out, I'm sure they each use the same regulator chip...
