it is either Kanthal A-1 or kanthal D there is no "a" only just A-1 (correct me if I am wrong)

You stand corrected, there is a Kanthal A as well as a Kanthal A1 a well as the newer APM If you want to see the biggest and best supplier of Kanthal as well as read all the specs go here superdave = Resistance heating alloys and resistance alloys

Dont waste your time calling this company trying to buy Kanthal though unless your willing to purchase about 5-10LBS I bought 5lbs for $250 and have a lifetime supply :) but they wont sell anyone 100-300 feet, I believe 5lbs is the Minimum and your looking at $250 easy

Approximately how many feet does 5lbs yield?

On the SS mesh, the difference in size is relative to juice thickness. 325 seems to work better for folks using thing juice (e.g. Higher vg) and the 400 is good for thinner (e.g. Higher pg). I get 400 t-316 SS mesh from: eBay My World - maryhoffer

For kanthal a-1, I use either 32awg or 34awg depending on what resistance I'm after
Gauge Ohms/ft Ohms/in
32 13.81 1.151
34 21.28 1.773

I get them from: eBay My World - kingorchid

You can email them if what you want isn't listed.

So I would need to have at least 1.3" of A-1 to equal 1.5ohms?

If I wire two coils-up @ ~1.5ohms each in parallel I Should get about 3.0ohms of resistance total?

Yes on question 1. Because resistance through metal is relative to distance you can measure approximately to get a preferred resistance. It's never exact though because you still have to account for extra length to make connections and the internal resistance of what ever device you're using. (close enough though)

Question 2: Its just the opposite, 2x 3.0ohm coils will give a relative 1.5ohm resistance to your PV because you'll pull twice the current with 2 coils.
