Kanthal and silver order

Going to try my hand at wrapping my own coils, just wanted to get some clarification before I place the order

I'm looking at the 33awg Kanthal A-1 here:

$9.61 for 100' with free shipping

And the cheapest source I found for .999 silver wire only has as thin as 30awg here:

$6.16 for 30', can't find out about the shipping unless I sign up for an account


my question is, is it okay to jump up to a thicker gauge for the low-resistance sections? Or do I need to find something closer to the same gauge for both pieces? I ask because it's less than half the price at this place than others I've found in 32awg

being that it is non resistance wire you can always try it. most of the time the gauge is important because it changes the resistance, but with non res i dont think a few points of thickness should matter much.

Yeah, I didn't expect it to make any difference resistance-wise...I was wondering more about the physical connection. I suppose it shouldn't make much difference though if I'm soldering them together. I just like to overthink things LOL

what the hell, at that price it's worth trying either way I suppose
