Kanthol wire question

Hey everyone. I want to start rebuilding single coils for my kanger tank and I was wondering what the best gauge wire to use would be. I want to build them between the 1.5-2.5 ohm range and saw a couple of videos on building micro coils. If anyone can offer any input that would be great. Thanks in advance!

32 or 30 gauge works great for the ohm range you're looking for.

5/64 drill bit 30g 8 wraps gives me about 2 ohms +/-, with 32g 5 wraps gives me 2.28 +/-

1/16 drill bit 30g 8 wraps = 1.8 +/-
1/16 drill bit 32g 6 wraps = 2.13 +/-

Play around with it, keep notes. The readings I get do go up or down a fraction. CHECK YOUR OHMS always.

Right on information. I get 1.8ohm every time with a 30ga 8 wrap microcoil on a 16ga needle. I do mean every time, consistently. They work great wicked with cotton in a PT2. :vapor: I have a spool of 32ga kanthal that I use to wind dual coils for my dripper when I want to get above 1.2ohm. 10 wraps on a 16ga needle for 2.8ohm, microcoil.

Just to add another choice: I use 28 gauge/ 11 wraps = 1.5 ohms 12 wraps probably 1.8 ohms.

This mico coil build works for me in all of my toppers from evod's to kayfun's.

Rip Trippers did a 12 wrap 28 gauge for pro tank's but 1. I am no Rip 2. I like the added clearance 3. I like 1.5 ohms for my diy juice and vape at 8 watts.

So...............based on this, is a 16ga Needle same size as a 1/16" bit ? Looks to be getting the same results. Asking, as I use a 1/16 bit on my PT builds bit but was looking to get a Leur Lock Needle so that its a bit easier (more to hang on to).

Wondering if anyone has used Nichrome 80 instead of Kanthal. I read somewhere that this may lead to a cleaner (or at least different) taste given it supposedly has less iron in the metal. Thoughts?

Holding them side by side, I couldn't tell. Measuring them, the 1/16 measured at exactly 1mm. The 16 gauge Leur Lock measure the slightest bit bigger. Tiny amount.

I haven't used Nichrome, so I'm hoping someone will chime in with that answer. It's a good question.
