Has anyone tried these for cartomizer or cartridge fill?

They are ceramic fiber blankets good to 2300f or so. It's very "cottony". I work at a foundry and we use this stuff all the time to line furnaces, insulate molds, all kinds of stuff. There is some danger from inhaling the loose fibers, but if they were wet I bet that wouldn't be a problem.

Maybe a little piece next to the coil? It has the same temperature properties as the silica rope that I've seen on some cartomizer mods, which really look awesome. Also has the same dangers as to the fibers.

What do you think? I may have to try it.

Thanks,

I know, post is a bit old. Replying just because of the possible safety issues. I build kilns and forges, so this material is very familiar. I'm not familiar with the fiber composition/manufacturing process of 'silica' wick, so I'm commenting only on kaowool/insawool. As the fibers degrade from mechanical stress and heat exposure, they can fragment into small filament/dust particles. These are the dangerous particulates that can cause silicosis through chronic exposure. The 'cottony' aspect is what makes this extra hazardous since fibers are less physically bound to each other. 'Silica' wick may be susceptible to this sort of degradation also, but the longer and thicker fibers can reduce the probability.
