oh boy.......I hope he stops it wayyyyyyyy before he's 1. He's only 2-3 months. He's still crated at night, or if I take a shower. any time that someone can't be right there to keep an eye on him, and he still manages to go poop in the dining room. It's always there. I've even tried putting the poop on the piddle pad (before I flush it) which is by the door and telling him good potty to see if we can at least get him to do it on the pad, but so far no luck. He'll be outside for 20 minutes, doesn't poop, comes inside and poops in the dining room sometimes 5 minutes later. He finally stopped when he was still under a year old. BTW, he turned 2!!!! last Tuesday. 2? already?
He is still very young. If you can't keep him to a restricted area, even when you are with him, it is going to be harder. I learned body language - Geordi would get frisky, or exploring, and I knew he had to poop. Take him out! The problem for me was at night and he just wasn't ready to be out and about. Totally my fault. Little bugger will push the limits, more and more until he learns limits are limits. But he will learn!oh boy.......I hope he stops it wayyyyyyyy before he's 1. I had a Cocker that had a good list of tricks, & he loved to do them. I didn't realize when I was teaching him that I was using gestures for each trick. I had a friend over one day, we were visiting, I guess I talk with my hands. She asked me at one point what he was doing his tricks for. I was using his gestures! He was so smart! He is still very young. If you can't keep him to a restricted area, even when you are with him, it is going to be harder. As others have said, be consistent and firm. Everyone needs to use the same words and do the same thing. Keep simple treats nearby so you can reward him when he does good. Choose a word, I use YES! In a happy, higher pitch then a simple yes , to mark when he does what you want. Then give a treat. YES! means treat. I also use a clicker for formal or trick training, but a simple YES or Nice will do.
Teach him silly dog tricks. Not just sit and down, but shake hands (I use the word partners), spin (circle one way - lure with a treat ), twirl (circle the other way - command doesn't matter, just the action pinned to a word), sit up, beg, whatever you can think of. I teach my puppies tricks because #1 you can't screw it up, it's just a fun trick. #2, it's FUN! And they learn to love to learn. #3 it's entertaining for others. Look at my smart dog! #4, it builds a bond. Learning is FUNdamental.
#5 have fun and enjoy your pup. Your older dog can learn these tricks too. He is still young, but you can teach old dogs new tricks!
jup, he's getting a little better at stuff every few days so he'll get there. My son and I had talked about baby gates. We'd need at least two to keep him out of the living/dining room area. He may try to go down the hall, but I should be able to see that a little easier. He usually just slinks away and I have to notice he's not there. But, I just looked at amazon, and a lot of the baby gates are around 30.00 but they have a wooden one by evenflo for 10.00 Gonna show my son those tomorrow when he's here. For 20.00 if we can keep him out of that room, that will help a lot I think. He definitely has it in his head that there is a place you go to poop, we just need to change the place. He is still very young. I addition to Cathy's suggestions which, BTW, are what dog trainers say to do I would like to add this, also from my trainer friends: if after you tried everything you have a dog you cant break from pooping/...... in the house, try the leash trick. You tie the leash to your waist so the dog cant slink away to do his job and you are more likely to notice any change in its behavior that indicates wanting to go potty.jup, he's getting a little better at stuff every few days so he'll get there. Ugh... g'mornin'... it was a loooooooong weekend, and it ain't over yet. We spent Saturday in the ER, and Sunday in an inpatient room. My Darling Bride was in immense pain over the weekend (pain has been getting worse for the past week or so). Pain meds are now being changed, and they haven't quite seemed to make her comfortable yet. Pain is coming from the increase in tumor size in the plural space of her right lung. ER doc said that tumors there are "exquisitely painful and difficult to manage". Apparently there isn't a whole lot that they can do about the pain in that area other than pain drugs... there are no procedures that would give her comfort. We're hoping that she'll be released today or tomorrow, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I don't really "like" this, Brother
Love you.....

This sucks big time. I hope by now the pain meds are helping.Me either, Darlin'... really didn't like that I had to yell and scream at the people who are supposed to be helping her yesterday. I have no patience for their lack of compassion and laziness. All I asked for was for them to call the on-call pain management doctor to see if we could modify the medication orders... then the charge nurse started giving me attitude. I put her AND her boss in their place in short order. Now I'm here at work, just trying to get stuff started. I'll be leaving here shortly, because I don't feel like I can trust them enough to leave her there at the hospital by herself.
Love you too, Sweetness...![]()

I will! I'm using one of the days to take Laura to one of her favorite Japanese steakhouses for her birthday.![]()
Ok,i have a new addiction, those tiny little Pico's haha. For months,i absolutely did not want one at all.I've had a few other eleaf mods and just didn't like them,so i had no desire for a Pico. After several months of people over in the stock up thread raving about them,i finally caved and bought one, mainly because i couldn't find anything i really wanted haha, but i figured if i didn't like it,i would give it to my son, well,he ain't gettin it because i actually really like it,i like it enough that i just bought a 2nd one,and have 2 others planned for very soon.I just got the silver one yesterday, ordered the black and bronze today, and will be getting the all black and a resin one very soon,so yeah,i think i'm hooked now haha.
