I am getting a stale sour after taste on my kayfun light (authentic). It has been a week a since I had it. I am new but have tried everything to get rid of it. I have cleaned in alcohol. I Have changed the cotton I was using. I just cant get it fixed. DRIVING ME NUTS.

The taste, hard to explain, is not burnt but it is stale and a funky aftertaste. Any ideas?

Did you fully strip the kayfun on receipt and clean every part, nook, cranny?

If not, you didn't clean it.

Empty
strip all the way down
Rinse every part under hot running water - Caution small parts go down drains easily.
Soak all parts in Orange cleaner for a few hours
Rinse once more and reassemble.

Make sure your Cotton/Silica (wicking) is New and not contaminated
Build and dry fire your coil several times before wicking(cotton) to season

Actually it sounds like the cotton funk taste one gets from using to much. If to much cotton is used within the coil it produces a funny taste, some say it tastes like a dirty t-shirt.

Just washed and cleaned still getting a mild taste. Doesn't taste like oil but maybe its the cotton. its to tight against the coil. Huh? Thanks for all your help.

Yes. I have found whenever I add to much in the coil there is a weird taste. When you slide out the old cotton from the coil, keep an eye on the section that was in the coil. This little section will look sort of drier and matted if it's overstuffed. Before checking this out, dont rinse wicks or anything, you want juice on them to see.. wick should pull out kind of easily without tension. The cotton expands so when installing in coil you want it barely snug and no more.
