Ok, absolutely love almost everything about my Kayfun Lite Plus. Except... The coils get all gunky after 2-3 days (1-2 tanks) and it starts flooding and leaking the black gunk from the air holes. I blow it out and it starts working again but the taste isn't right after that and neither is the vapor production. I am then forced to drain the juice, disassemble, dry burn the coils to clean, rewick, and reassemble. I could deal with doing this once a week, but once every two days is ridiculous. Any ideas on how to fix it? I believe my coil is at a good height off the deck and I'm using the right amount of cotton. 28g kanthal reading 1.27ohms.

What juice are you vaping? Thicker juices will gunk the coils up fairly quickly.
I vape Boba's outa mine which is pretty thick and have to change wicks and dry burn the coil about every two tanks.
I haven't had any leaking problems from it however my issues have been getting the wick right cause I've been fighting dry burnt hits a good bit lately.
I definately agree that it's a pain in the .... to have to drain the tank, clean all the parts and put it back together after every two tanks.
I usually clean everything, rewick it, put it back together, pray i got the wick right and then vape it til it gets down a good bit. Refill it and by the end of that tank it's time to do it all over again.

I can confirm CLS gunks quite a bit in my KFL clone. You can try lowering the coil as much as possible (careful not to short out) and running lower wattage, but it may still gunk. It's a shame because that first half tank is so tasty at 15 Watts... Even in an RDA I can only get through 2 mL or so before the wicks need changing, but that is higher wattage (30+).

Agreed.
Performance must take all aspects into account. The particular e-liquid in use is a big part of that formula.

My Apple Pie mix is good for 2-3 tanks.
My Rwhy4 is good for 10+ tanks
Same build for both units.

Sudden leaking is a sign of either loss of vacuum(low liquid in tank) or a clogged wick no longer absorbing incoming liquid

It's the nature of the beast, especially with thick or dark juices.

If ou look at the various "how often do you change your wick?" treads you'll see that the answers range anywhere from "every tank" to "only once it starts to taste funky" but you'll also notice that many, many of those say "every couple of tanks/days."

It is what it is.

Plan on NOT filling before a wick change on every other tank. I do what an above poster does: fill up tank, vape until it gets low, refill, vape until gone, dry burn and change the wick.

Rinse and repeat.

I only wash mine if I'm switching juices, but I always dry burn.

Cotton wicks and has better flavor than any other wicking material IMO. It's super cheap and easily to acquired. In my experience it does not last long before it goes bad, that is it's one con. I change the cotton in my kayfun after I put about 5-7 ml through it. When changing the cotton just dry burn the coils to get the gunk off. My kayfun is nano'd but when using it in full size mode I usually change the cotton before every refill. I find you just get so much better flavor that way and it really only takes an extra minute or two.

For what its worth, I rewick every tank with organic cotton, and clean the coil....I vape 12mg Coffee between .61-.74 ohms.... the flavor is intense, the vape is warm and life is good on a Kayfun Lite Plus V2! !

Seriously...these tanks are so easy to rewick, no reason not to...and if you have tried cotton...you owe it to yourself to!

I'll agree to an extent. Kayfuns are easy to rewick, but only so long as the tank is as close to empty as possible and you don't mind getting juice all over your fingers taking it apart. The Squape is infinitely easier to rewick since you don't have to empty the tank, and if you use tweezers to take out the wick your fingers will stay clean, unlike a Kayfun where you have to take off the chimney covered in juice to get to the wick.

But I guess that could be construed as a slight hijack so I digress. ;)

I guess everyone rewicks differently. I start the process over the sink. I unscrew the top cap and rinse the everything first. Then remove the chimney and rinse, then remove the outer sleeve and rinse again.

By the time I've removed the chimney the wick and whole kayfun is free of any liquid. I then use tweezers to remove the wick. I then put it on my tester and check ohms... If all OK I now heat coil and burn off any gunk, and use my tweezers to "ream" the coil between burns. I rinse, use a tooth brush and give it a final clean and meter again.

I then rewick with organic cotton, apply some juice...and guess what?.....meter! Then put on my mod and give a test burn... Then put on chimney, meter again... And do another test burn..if all ok, I assemble the body and fill. I meter one last time after filled and then put on and vape away!

You can see by my rewick process I meter and test several times during this...safety can not be stressed enough on any rebuilds...a short can make for a bad day!!

This is precisely what I do.

For me, it's all part of the fun of DIY...as is mixing my own juice, taking good care of my batteries, etc. I just relax and enjoy the process!

Yeah, I rewick after every tank, simply because it's so easy I don't see why not. I can't even tell you how many tanks I go through before changing the coil. It's pretty damn obvious when you need to though. I notice you mentioned coffee. Have you ever tried Caviar by G2? Only good coffee I've tried so far (though I haven't tried many). You should check it out!

Edit: Meant to mention in reference to how often I change coils and wicks, that just about everything I vape is 50/50.
