This actually happened to me the other day too. I was able to get the two apart after the stuck pieces spent the night in the freezer.

I used two sets of vice grips. One attached to the building deck on the KFL base blocks and the other on the threads of the Stingray top cap. I just twisted slowly with even pressure. No damage to either piece really. The vice grip teeth made small indentions in the Stingray top cap threading, but it still screws into the battery tube very smoothly.

this happened to me the other day actually, it is infact the airflow screw. that little screw moves constantly while you are using it, walking around with it in your pocket... just general use. so i would screw that airflow screw in a little bit so it is sittin further down. also it helps to turn it upside down while you are unscrewing your tank, thats what helped me. you can also just give it some taps on the side while its upside down and it should get a little movement goin on for the airflow screw. one other thing, figure out which direction will loosen or tighten the airflow screw WHILE its on your mod then hold it in your hand and give it a quick flick in that direction... that will also move the screw back down out of the way. glad you got it fixed, now at least you know how to deal with it. just be sure not to force it off if it happens again, it will most certain put a nasty scratch on your stingray top cap.

Reviving an old thread. My nimbus was a tad stuck onto my stingray top cap as well. Went out bought a multimeter, had some 26 gauge kanthal and was going to do my very first build on my own, then it was a royal pain in the ... and stuck. Forgot how much elbow grease I had to put in when I attached the atty to the sting rays top cap a few weeks ago. Had to use the posts to get it screwed in all the way, assuming it's the stingrays top cap as the nimbus clone screwed on fine to my kts.

Anyhow aborted the mission of rebuilding the atty for the day, only one I have at the moment and couldn't afford the down time while building it as I was frustrated. My local b&m built the current set up not sure the ohms it's not too low but wNted to try sub ohm. Oe day

Alright dudes and dudettes, this has happened to me. Kayfun Lite Plus the EHPro big hole version from eciggity on top of a copper stingray clone.
I had been using this mod at work a lot in my pocket while running around ... I think the airflow is blocking but I can not be for certain. When I twist snuggly I can hear a seizing/clicking sound. So I am not sure if this is the threads or simply the airflow screw that has just fallen out basically. The parts are super tight against one another where nothing could get through. I tried soaking the parts in hot water for three minutes but the same thing is happening. Was I supposed to only soak one side?

I have placed the parts in the freezer to try the cold method instead. :(

I could leave the kayfun on forever but once the insulator burns up I will be SOL.

So my new kfl+ is now stuck on my stingray. I am pretty sure its the adjustable air flow screw that has come down but not completely sure. I just know that it is stuck on one of the air channels on stingray. How do I fix this????

I made a thread about this a while back.

My kayfun lite also got stuck on the stingray It was a pain to get off

Holy .... sticks.... after 2 days of owning my Stingray Black/copper and my Kayfun lite + v2, the first time i ever try my Kayfun on this mod and BAAAAAAAAM.... locked shut! Same problem as all of you guys... that damned AFC screw. So i thought id post here detailing how i fixed it incase someone else has been having this problem.......After some research i tried everything i could think of... i even considered using pressurized air to somehow push that screw back up...

What worked with me, surprisingly was a hammer! I tried everything listed here, Freezing, Dental Floss, brute force , Elbow grease, pliers, that jar opener thingie........ you name it, i tried it.

You can try any of the methods above they might work for you, for the dental floss, i wet it, fully saturating it with water then i rigged it to the door handle so i can torque it without using my hands. i got the damn dental floss inside over 4 times, i could feel it slip under that screw... tried simultaniesly pulling the topcap w/ the floss while turning the base... still no luck... After much suffering and agony, i tried the brute force method using pliers and tablecloth and rubber on the teeth, still not enough grip to pop it open.... and then a stroke of genius......

With just the topcap and the kayfun base, i covered everything with some table cloth for padding, with the topcap underside facing me, then gently kept tapping on the padded surface quickly, kinda like how a bump key would open a lock from light tapping of a hammer......it helps if you actually do all this on a bed or a soft surface to absorb the shock. and them Boooooooooooom pops out like butter, with minimal damage.... ....ING STOKED !

Hope this helps someone having this same issue, i just saved myself around $80 dollars :) Good luck and be patient.. it can be done!

My kayfun did the same thing on my stingray. When I went to ECC recently, I had many people trying to figure how to take this off. One suggested doing a lot of drilling (I'm not mechanical that way), or it's dedicated to just my stingray and would have to fill from the top, but I left it till I could find a way to get this off. And really, the upside down, wrapping in a towel and tapping did it. I refilled and worked well for a while. Yesterday.. again, it would not come off. Took a bit longer tapping till my hand was hurting, but it came off with no damage just now. I am worried though the next time it will be done for. But not giving up. Thank you for the suggestion, and yes it helped tremendously!

Thank you Sabz

hhaha great to hear that helped you out! ive since then removed 1 of the airflow screws entirely and made sure the second one was inside way past the edge, hasn't happened since thankfully! The tank and mod are still going ;)
