This is a warning for anyone using a kayfun Lite +, combined with a stingray. I just saw a thread in this sub-forum from a user who got their KFL+ stuck on their stingray. I'm making this thread because the same exact thing happened to me, and it caused minor damage to to my KFL+. I got lucky, and there is potential to perm. damage either or BOTH the KFL+ and the stingray.

What happens, is the airflow control grub screw gets stuck in the groves on the stingray top cap. This makes the KFL+ unabe to screw off.

If you know anyone who uses these devices together, tell them to BE CAREFUL. Warn them.....no one wants to damage their e-cig equipment!

The best way to prevent this is to make sure your grub screw for the airflow control is not sticking out of the kayfun bottom, in fact, I wouldn't even let it be FLUSH. Try to keep the grub screw inSIDE of the kayfun bottom cap, and try to check it each time before you screw the KFL+ on the stingray.

That can happen to ANY mod that has any portion of the top cap covered where the AFC screw sits.

Simple solution:

make sure your grub screw is at the least flush (or better yet slightly recessed or just removed completely) with the base of your KF.

if your screw has a tendency to walk out just wrap it with a little plumbers tape.

You can add the Castle mod to the list.

I mostly ruined the first KFLv2 3 days ago after I scolded my dear wife for screwing it on too tight. After a lot of lecturing and tut-tut-tut-ing and it-only-needs-to-be-finger-tight-ing I gave her another KFLv2 and used the damaged one myself.

This evening, wanted to remove the atty to fill it for her and... stuck AGAIN!

A couple of Google searches later (and after removing a large foot from mouth) I understood that it's the AFC screw that gets stuck indeed. I can wiggle it for a few mm until it "stops" in the top cap thread, so it's definitely that and not just friction.

I'll try the "thin paper whilst holding it upside down" trick tomorrow after my blood pressure has settled. After that I'll just remove the AFC screw altogether.

PS: in case I can't get it out, anyone want to buy an authentic Castlefun hybrid mod?

PS2: the way I see it the screw doesn't even have to move around whilst in use. If it just barely sticks out to begin with it easily clicks "in place" onto the top cap like a sort of lock, but doesn't want to go the other way.

Yep, it has nothing to do with the screw moving.

What happens is the screw catches on the part of the top cap that is grooved, and from there it is extremely difficult to remedy the situation without damaging the kayfun or mod.

with some tinkering, you can probably save both. My KFL 2 that got caught on my stingray has some scratched in it from spending an hour+ trying to fix it, but I finally got them separated!
