Hi
My kayfun started leaking, for no apparent reason, and i had a tough time figuring it out.
Checked all my gaskets, replaced the one on the bottom screw (looked a little sketchy), checked the glass, everything looked good ...still juice pouring out of the air hole.
Finally i took a closer look at the one gasket i couldn't get my hands on, the fixed one up top, that the tip of the chimney slides up into.
I don't know how to get that one out without wrecking it, but the chimney "fit" in there seemed loose. So to check it, i wrapped the chimney tip with a little Teflon Tape (white thread tape), put it back together, and I'm back in business!!
This is a nice temporary fix, but I'd like to do it right.

So first, does anyone have an easy way to get that o-ring out?
Second, the assorted replacement o-rings it came with, none fit that chimney top tight.
The small thick ones are just a bit too big, i assume they are for the DripTip.
I don't want to pull out the old o-ring without a proper replacement.

Thanks
M

From your description it sounds like a flooding issue instead of a leaking issue.

Try leaving the tails long enough to reach the shelf and cover the Juice Wells.

How large diameter is the coil? I would recommend a 2 or 2.5 mm coil.

After all else is checked, it's usually the chimney top o-ring that's the culprit. It's not an easy one to change, but once you've figured it out, it's easy.

Work the old one out with a tiny jeweler's screw driver. Press the new one in at an angle and seat one side in the groove. Press on the other end with a finger and wiggle until that side pops in place. It's a learned motion. Once you get it, it's not hard the next time.

Did you have to get a new o-ring?
Or did you use one of the ones that came with it (that look a bit too big)

I've picked up several of those little bag kits from vendors. The kit contains screws, o-rings, and several small parts, including the deck posts, and the bottom contact/air hole screw that locks down the coil deck posts.

That o-ring does look bigger than what you see in the hole. The channels inside the hole are a lot deeper than you think. All you see is the inner edges of the o-ring when you look at it.

If you have to control leaking and flooding by how you wick it, then you have a poorly built tank. With a properly made tank, leaking and flooding is ALWAYS a problem with the seal (an air leak). The purpose of wicks is to bring juice to the coil, not to control juice flow. Bad wicking causes dry hits, not leaking.

If your wick doesnt rest on top the Juice Wells the Juice can bypass the wick and flood the tank.

Tge tails are supposed to be long enough so tge tails sits directly on top of the Juice Wells.
