Guys I am still having problems with dry hits...I have watched allot of videos and followed their builds but to no avail. I have no trouble with wrapping coils on my drippers or my RSST with a ss mesh but I just cant seem to get this one right....

Arrrggg!!!

Forgot to add that I hope all of you had a great Holiday weekend!:)

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate on this a bit? I'm not quite following.

Ace, I'm trying to find a good picture online to describe what I'm talking about.
So, I took a picture of the instruction sheet that came with my russian 91% and I'll try to describe it the best I can.
So, looking at the diagram, air flows into part #17 through the air hole, which then passes through the hole in the side of part #18 the center post.
What I think is happening, is as the air flows through part #18, it is hitting a burr somewhere in that post.
Most likely a burr that is in the hole drilled through the side, but it could be a burr that is in the hole which is drilled through the length of the post as well.
Smooth out the edges of the air floe holes in part #18, and I bet your whistle goes away.

i'll be ordering atleast one more tobeco 91% clone if it's as good as i've heard. i plan on getting rid of most my other atty's and just running kayfun devices with nano kits. i'm tired of pissing around with things! and you just can't beat a kayfun running a micro coil and cotton!

now, to find steel nano kits at a better price! hopefully more modders will start making them :)

This seems to be a decent video. Start at 15:20 The Kayfun Lite IS truly fun! - YouTube
So is this one. Start at 21:15 kayfun lite coil set-ups - YouTube
Edit: One more. Chimney Micro Coil Build In A Kayfun Lite - YouTube

I've tried several setups on my 804s but my favorite is working out to be a micro coil wrapped on a 1.5mm allen key, using parallel wire 32 gauge kanthal at 1.2 ohms. I use cheese cloth for wicking and leave the tails long enough to lay above the channels.

I set up to prevent flooding more than good wicking, which means I often have to cover the air hole and give a little pull. Drippers have to drip, squonkers have to squonk, and I have to dry toot. lol. The rewards of all three is vaping on a fully saturated wick.

Good luck and keep us posted. Wire gauge, wicking material, and type of build, all that stuff. :vapor:

Hey guys, haven't been on much due to holidays but here is a copy of a P.M I sent Huntsman on how I have had this working o.k for now, been using it since yesterday....

P.M Copy:

I started doing more research because not being able to get this work has ...... me off beyond belief!!! I followed this youtube video as I had some ekowool laying around and knock on wood it has been working ok (Nothing mind blowing) so far.

Here is the video : The Kayfun Lite & Building a Coil - An In-depth Review - YouTube

I had always tried microcoils with cotton & ekowool at around 1.3 ohm coils, my conclusion is that it is just getting too hot too fast for the juice to keep up wicking. Also I have put it on a VV device ( iTaste MVP). That also might something to add to the equation as I had only used it on a mechanical before.

This time I wrapped a conventional coil like in the video with 32 ga wire 3/4 wraps at 1.8 ohms with ekowool and have it on my MVP and have it at 3.8 volts... It is 10 times better than before. Only got a dry-ish hit when I jacked it up to 4.2 volts.

Agree !! I have the much cheaper/ not well machined "Rocket" from FT and I did the same as you... Micro Coil...1.2 to 1.4 or so....cotton....and BAM !! Best vape I have ever had. So I ordered 5 of these better Machined ones.

Let us know if it solves the issue Ace.
I've read of a lot of people having whistling issues as well.
Im also thinking that depending on how far the center post, part #18 is tightened down, it may effect air hole alignment, causing whistling, as well as restricting air flow.
Fortunately, my russian 91% has none of these issues.
But I have kayfun and russian clones on the way from a few different sources, so we will see.

Ok. I messed up... I forgot to do this just now. I took apart my device and was ready to test this and then I read on another thread where someone was having the same whistle issue and they solved it by adjusting the center pin screw to a certain position. So I played around with it and whistle went away when the screw was tightened all the way but I would get 0.0ohms because that box part of the deck was getting pushed up and off of the deck. So i backed it out a bit to a position that was more tightened/further up than before and the whistle seemed to decrease just a little bit... but not enough. It's still there, although slightly less piercing. Then I put the thing back together and filled it up with juice and forgot to try what you suggested.

So I'm going to try it again tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Sry about that.

No worries man. Sounds like we're on the right path to fixing the whistle issue!
Once my clones come in, I'm sure I'll have to do similar fixes as well.
