......... I do like the fact that, on the Tobeco, the o-ring where the chimney and top cap meet is exposed, like the real kayfun; on the EHPRO, that o-ring is very recessed up in the top cap, takes a beating from the sharp chimney top, and is a real handful to change.

All of them are nice units, really....

Rounding those sharp edges off a little might be worth while. I think I'd try to camber it off to where the leading edge missed the oring as much as possible.

I just put in a dragon coil build by following this video.... Dragon/nano coil preparation tutorial - YouTube and sheesh what a difference. I used 30 gauge and have a coil that is 1.7 The flavor has really increased but so has the TH...im not used to this much and will go read the dragon nano builds.

I still haven't taken mine apart and checked the air flow tube BUT so far a haven't had one whistle.

I do still have to..splunk? but I am using a 70 vg juice so it is probably to thick to wick easily...what mix are you guys using?

Savage I meant to ask you...the grooves in the Russian look like they are a bit deeper and wider than the ones on this Tobeco...anyone have both to compare?

Thanks all

If you want to make a precision tight wind, simply, no guessing as to tightness or orientation, with a resulting predictable resistance... every time...please see my post at...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ank-microcoil-discussion-22.html#post11425979

Coupled with overwinding which was demonstrated by vapdivrr on his youtube starting at about 6:45 mins and you get perfect tight precision…every time…

reo mod w/ micro coil - YouTube

If you try this and it works as I've said. Tell others, document it yourself. Stop the silly hand winding we've been doing for years. It's unnecessary ritual. And the fixes from grommets to non-resistance legs are no substitute for a good solid build. They're patches. Band-aids.

Good luck!

:)

That's a pretty good video but I'd suggest not lifting the coil off the terminal. Yes it'll short out there but it doesn't matter other than lower your ohms a fraction. Just make sure the bottom wire is on the positive terminal, and that your coil is 1.5 to 1.6 mm id. That helps prevent juice down the well and keeps airflow inside the coil.

There's not much difference, and not worth a redo, but try it next time. I've tried it both ways and slightly prefer it touching. ymmv and all that lol.

I had the same whistling problem with mine. I read what you guys did in this thread and did the same thing. Took the bottom pin and insulator out and unscrewed the AFC screw. I don't have a small enough drill bit to clean out the air hole so I just stuck a 1.4mm micro screwdriver in the both the air hole and AFC hole. Also since it fit I did stick in the little allen wrench for the AFC screw in the air hole and screwed it around in there. I put the AFC screw back in all the way and opened it up little by little to my preferred draw and thought I still heard the whistle. Got frustrated and just gave up. Coiled and cottoned it up like normal. To my surprise the whistle is gone! I honestly have no idea what it could be. I'm not sure if maybe my AFC screw is tighter than I had it before but the draw feels the same as how I have it set on another tank. Now I'm afraid to touch that screw worried that the whistle might come back!

Thanks, Donna, so are you. What are you using the most these days?

PS. For anybody that likes peanut butter, check donnah's blog for a great recipe.

edited because I didn't like the way it sounded. I'm all into micro coils and cotton.. I put them in everything now! I got tired of messing with mesh and now use micros and cotton in my genes and it's so much easier. I like the vape the reo and rm2 gives, plus it's easy to rewick. But I think I use the kayfun lite a little bit more. I reworked my pb recipe. I now use 2ml of pb and 1ml of bavarian cream instead of what is listed on my blog. Are you still making it?

and yes, the kfl looks like it was made for the roller.

Umm... I just got a Reo Grand and a RM2 so that's getting lots of attention at the moment LOL. I've got one kayfun lite on a Roller and a russian 91% on a provari and a DID with a micro coil and cotton on another provari and another DID with a micro coil and cotton on the another provari. 3 of the setups are full of the peanutbutter mix :) Everything gets a turn most every day.

Sounds like you're getting a good vape every once in a while at least. :) I really like the looks of the kfl on the roller.

Edit: I haven't been vaping the peanut butter because I keep forgetting to reorder. I just ordered some stuff from rts over the week end and forgot to get it. I'll try your new mix once I get the pb though.

Aha! I'm thinking I'm going to cancel. I hate to do that but I'm thinking they should have let us know.

Yea, I ordered two of them and was wondering what was going on. I mean, what's the point of having an 'in stock' counter if they are not actually in stock.

Anyway, thanks for the update nelsonm64. I left a message on my order page last night and there was no reply from them, but I did not email them directly. At least now I know that they did not forget me individually.

Hey remember that no whistling after my new build? After i refilled the tank it has started again!!!

Guess i will try cleaning that post out

I just took another look at the picture in post 42 by savagemann. I'm wondering if the pin (18) is getting rotated when the device is screwed on. You might try playing with the adjusting screw (19) a little and adjust it out the minimum amount that still gives good contact. Or maybe a bit or allen key through the air hole and into the hole in the center pin to hold it while screwing it on.

Just thinking out loud here, and keeping my fingers crossed than mine won't have any issues lol. Keep us posted, especially if you come up with a fix.

i'd maybe ride it out. i bet it would take just as long for a refund ;) i'm building a Kayfun Army, i'm all in :)

You're probably right but I went ahead and emailed for a refund. I'll have to wait and see how it goes.

I'm with you on the kayfun type designs. I think it's the reduced chamber and air up under the coil but whatever, it's a crackin' good vape, as Todd would say.

I recently got an immortalizer clone and it vapes great as well, but not a bit better than my 804s. It quit working after very little use and the negative screw won't tighten down, because the threads are stripped at the top of the hole where it screws in. The screw itself seem to be ok. It must have been catching for just a thread of so at first. I've got a ticket in with fasttech for a return, so we'll see how that goes as well.
