I figured that was exactly the problem; it's possible to do, but has to be done exactly right, or it does flood -- I tried it the very first time, going by Busardo's video, and I was blowing out flood for nearly half an hour. So I don't try it that way anymore, since I doubt I have the skill and timing necessary to avoid the flooding. Maybe after I've handled it more and understand its quirks. I really love it though, even if it is a clone; if a clone is this good, then someday I really would like to have a "real" one, but it's a bit pricey for me at the moment.

Actually getting this thing and proving I can build quite nice coils is now making me curious to get one of those RDAs, but I want one that's for a single coil, rather than dual, and most of the ones I've seen in various catalogs have such a number of "things" sticking up from the deck, I have no idea what they're all for, or how to use them. I need something really simple, like the kayfun! :D

Yup, it definitely comes down to technique ... If you are interested in an rda, maybe try something smaller like an A6? Big dripper are a bit overrated IMO, and while there is more space to build within them, my A6 puts out much better flavor than my Stillare RDA which is very airy even with the air flow more than half closed. I don't like that I get almost no flavor on the inhale, only on the exhale.

An IGO-L is also not a bad choice for a first dripper. :)

Go for a three post RDA. You can still do a single coil in them. I've got a Nimbus clone, and I only have a single microcoil with cotton in it. Gives good flavor anyway, which is all I'm after. I'm not a cloud chaser and I don't have a device that could really handle multiple coils. The only issue is a bit too much airflow, but that can be resolved with putting my finger over an airflow hole. If I ever want to sub ohm and try my hand at dual coils, at least the option is there.

Yeah, I definitely had some issues making sure the wires stayed put while trying to screw them down. It was worth it however. I hope the coil lasts a good long while, and that I'll only need to switch out the cotton for a bit.

Ive had my first KF for about 45 days and other then dry burning it when changing my cotton wick (about once every 2 weeks) my first coil is still going strong

Ok, I'll check out all those. The ones with 3 posts, I'm not sure what to do with those at all -- I just started this coil building thing, and just started vaping a little over 3 months ago, so I'm still a newbie; I'm just glad I got brave enough to deal with the coils, because this Kayfun is totally worth all the hassle -- and the thing about the wires around the screws? AAAAAAAAAUUUUUGHGHHHHH!!! I'm getting a little better at it, but gawd it's a pain; I need 3 or 4 hands!

I'd like to get an RDA that's not very tall, but is fairly fat; my sigelei is 23mm, and so far the only way to get anything that big or bigger is a 25mm IBtanked, and I'm having second thoughts about those, since I don't think they have the locking ring. But anyway, I want something that won't make the telescoped Sigelei much taller than it is already, but fat, at least 22mm. There was a post recently about using one of the kayfun's stainless rings as a beauty ring on the Sigelei, to avoid the slight gap, and when I get my Nano kit Tuesday, I'll be able to start doing that, which pleases me to no end; I got a flat-top Sigelei, but there's still a very slight bevel, which gives that slight gap.

Most will be 22 mm I think. Most are short though. Even with three posts, you only need two for a single coil. With the Nimbus, you don't even need to wrap wire around the posts or screws. There are holes drilled into the posts that you put the ends of the wires in. Then you screw down the screws from the top, and they clamp on to the wires from the inside. Very easy to do, just ignore the third post and use the middle post, plus one other. That's it.

That sounds familiar, like a Pioneer stereo we bought in 1989. It still works too -- even the turntable. :D But the stereo speakers attach that way, stick the wire into the screw, tighten it down, and listen to the music... :)

I'll definitely look at the Nimbus. I've seen a couple others I liked the look of, but don't recall the names offhand. I'll have to start keeping a list or something. :D

Does anyone get a whistling noise from their Kayfuns? I don't mind it much, but I'm wondering if clones from another company will have this issue. If this one keeps whistling and the Hcigar doesn't, hubby will demand the Hcigar.

I have a Kayfun Lite + (original) and it doesn't whistle or wheeze at all. I also have an HCigar Kayfun 3.1 which is extremely noisy I think it has the Flu! Not impressed with the 3.1 not just for the noise but it'sa pain to fill and leaks more times than not. I liked the KFL+so much I ordered the EHPro clone to replace the 3.1 which is heading for the box of " what ifs and never was"

My Svoemesto doesn't whistle, but the Black Edition does. Adjusting the airflow quiets it down to some degree, but it's still there.

Back to the screws, I got frustrated and decided to wrap the wires around them twice. I figured if there was a problem the ProVari would throw an error code, but it's working fine.

I was attaching the wires to the screws the way Rip Tripper does in his video, which was adding to the difficulty. I watched and paused the video several times to make sure I want doing exactly what he said to do. Then last night I watched one made by Vaperev and the guy wrapped the wires around the screws differently. His way made much more sense to me.
