I have a kayfun Lite Plus (Tobeco) that I want to use with an MVP 2.0. I'm very new to building and would like to be pointed in the right direction.

Reading existing threads on various sites suggests I should use 30g Kanthal. The issue is, the B&M by my house doesn't sell anything above 28g meaning I would have to order online. Would 28g be fine or should I get 30g?

They also sell Nichrome. What's the difference?

I have a svoemesto Kayfun on an MVP v2, and though I haven't tried many builds, so far my favorite is 28 gauge, 8-9 wraps around a 5/64 drill bit. It comes out to 1.3-1.4 ohms. Good surface area, good flavor, good vapor.
BTW, though I haven't tried that many builds, I have built with 28, 30 & 32 gauge. Twisted, non-twisted, etc. 28 gauge is my favorite for this setup.

I always use 28 in my Kayfun. Usually a 9 wrap 2mm ID(internal diameter) micro. The resistance usually comes out to 1.4.

I just put in a spaced coil using 28g that has me thinking I might stop doing micro coils. I used a #6-32 x 2" SS machine screw to wrap it. Using a screw like this produces a perfect coil. I did 9 wraps, twisted it off, then put it on a 2mm (or 2.4, can't remember) screwdriver and pushed the coils a bit tighter. They will tighten up, but should spring back still nicely spaced. Resistance came out to 1.3, so you may want to go 10 wraps for a tad bit more resistance....if you try it. Just make sure you keep the screwdriver through the coil while attaching it, it can be a bit tricky tightening it down without tweaking the ends of the coil.

I currently use a KFL+v2 on my MVP2. I wrapped 28 gauge around a 14 gauge syringe need(~2.1mm I.D.) doing 9 wraps. I left a minimal gap between the air hole and the coil, it's probably about 1mm. My MVP2 reads it at 1.5, the ohm reader says it's 1.6. It's working well for me, I'm also using rayon for a wick. I do not experience any dry hits, it does take a second to heat up if you put it down for a while. I usually run it at the MVP2's full potential, sometimes a bit lower depending on how I feel.

Well right now I am vaping a 1.3 ohm 28 gauge single coil on a magma at 6 watts, sometimes 9 watts, so yes it should be good.
