Kayfun Quartz Full and Nano Kits

Back when Tarsius released the quartz kits, they had some issues with the glass, and lots of folks ended up with broken kits. (more info here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...sed-pyrex-tank-kayfun-yet-2.html#post12175461)

Not sure if newer batches have solved the issue, but the edges from the Tarsius kit and the edges from the IBTanked glass are quite different. Jvapes sent me a replacement when I contacted them about it, but I haven't tried to use it. Both arrived together and I switched to the IBTanked once I saw them side by side.

I paid U$33 for 3 pieces from IBT, they come in cool plastic cases that I find great to keep the glass safe while cleaning/refills. Here are some pics:

edit: I can't confirm if the measurements above are also compatible with the other versions (rainbow and SoV) but they work great with the Tarsius version.

is that the halfling tube or the full size tube?

Thank you so much, i literally just got my rainbow heaven version today and broke the glass within 5 minutes.

sorry to hear, I did the same with mine when it first arrived, it sucked.. I'm not sure if the measurements are the same in both kits, but I hope you can get it sorted.

I received my full size Rainbow Heaven last week from an ebay seller. It seemed that when I completely assemble the RBA, I couldn’t get the top stainless steel threaded end cap to lay flat on top of the quartz tank. The cap of the evaporation chamber pulls the top stainless steel threaded end cap up about 1mm.

I have 18 different kayfun’s and have tried several different models, but I got the same result. My suspicion is the larger quartz tank (not the nano) had been cut about 1 mm to short. I could have probably got this to work if I trimmed about 1 mm from the cap of one of my Kayfun evaporation chambers; however I hesitated to modify an existing unit.

The seller agreed to take the unit back and refund my money, so I returned it today.

Ordered some glass from Ibtanked, and it's been working flawlessly.

So, how's the tank so far?

I'm looking to shrink my kayfun with a nano kit, but I only want to use glass or stainless. What are the best options so far?

I was thinking this kit: K-Nano setup 2 (steel pieces) - Cloud 9 Vaping but I'm not sure about my tank options.

Am I on the right track?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, I had to replace the glass at first, but I'm happy to report that I had no other issues. I've used it everyday. I only fill from the top which might be considered an issue by some, but it has been working great.

nice!

any chance of a pic of your setup?

basically, you custom ordered a glass tank from IBTanked and it's a press fit rather than threaded. Do you have o-rings holding it all together? Any leaks or rattling?

did you do any other mods to make this work...like a drop/nano kit?

I really want to move away from plastics -- even PMMA -- so this information really helps. thanks!

Yes, in short: I broke the glass included in the kit trying to install it. Ordered some replacement glass from ibtanked, had no issues putting it together, been working great since.

No leaks, no rattling. I only vape at my computer desk, but have taken it for a drive a couple times, no issues. It's quite sturdy, I don't see how it could come apart by accident without being quite careless.

No other mods, original o-rings, etc. And yes, o-rings hold it together.

Threaded glass would greatly increase costs, to me the best solution so far is Science of Vaping v2 glass kit, here's a picture of the nano v2: http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/02...o_Size_Glass_Kit_1_1024x1024.JPG?v=1399594058

It uses a custom chimney to hold the kit in place, I ordered one a couple months ago but it will be a while until I get my hands on it. Full size is also available.

Their website is currently down while they sort out a new payment method, but should be back online soon.

Here's a pic of my setup:

Leaking, wasn't worth the trouble. I also bought 2 nano kits for clones and had leaking problems. I changed all of them back (4) and haven't had any issues so far with leaking. I have 5 authentic kayfuns but haven't tried them with any of the nano kits, I can deal with the size if they're working great. I kinda gave up on trying to use the nanos.

did it leak near the o-rings? the only kind of leaking I have experienced with my russians (one glass, one standard) was thru the airhole. just curious about how it leaked.

SOV is still trying to work out billing issues? I received a note from them almost a month ago saying that they were trying to work things out. I'd really like to get one of their top caps.

Yep, they are still working on it, he was busy getting things ready for vape summit I think. But hopefully it will be back up soon.

AFAIK you should be able to order a top cap by emailing them: scienceofvaping@gmail.com
