I purchased a kayfun Lite + V2 about a week ago and when I first got it built a coil at 1.3 ohms using 28g kanthal. So I decided to change my flavor and up my coil to 2 ohms. I just filled it up all the way and it has a light burnt taste too it. I don't know what the problem is the coil is fine I don't know what to do because I don't want to waste 4ml of juice.

Any suggestion? I have tried using it on my Provari and a 30w box mod and they box taste slightly burnt.

The bottom line is this... When you get a burnt taste it's almost always because you have too much heat for the amount of juice you can deliver... In other words, the problem is, you're not getting enough juice to your coil.... So now we just have to figure out why...

What kind of wick are you using? I find that cotton wicks best, and for me silica just doesn't wick very fast...

The next thing is how much wick? If you don't get enough, then you can have dry spots on your coil... On the other hand, if you get too much then it can "choke" and juice won't wick INTO the coil, only to the edges of it...

Last but not least, specific to the kayfun... Make sure you don't in any way block the juice channels... For some reason i've seen a lot of people want to shove a bunch of wick down there or have it sitting right above the channels... I guess thinking it's closer to the juice or can wick better... It won't... Those channels MUST be open and clear in order for the vacuum from a draw to draw juice into the chamber and get to your wick.

I feel like I've been posting this thing up all over, but here's a pic of one of my kfl's that I re-wicked last weekend. Notice the wick is WELL clear of the juice channels... If you look down from the top with the bottom of the chimney on you should be able to see the channels perfectly clear. Nothing blocking them at all.

Did you prime your new wick and coil?
A few dry puffs should do it.
Did you block the juice ports with the wicks?
Position the wicks such that light can be seen through the juice ports.
Have you tried dropping the voltage/wattage?
Start low and increase until it begins tasting burnt.
Are you using cotton wick?
Replace the wick.

OBTW just pour the juice back into it's bottle or use a syringe to draw the juice out.

Kayfuns take some practice to get right. Burnt taste can be from too much or not enough wicking and also from blocked juice channels. You can empty the juice back into the bottle instead of wasting it. The negative of kayfuns is that you have to empty them to tinker with them. I always prime then puff directly from the chimney a few times before installing and filling the tank. Also you can also put in one ml of juice once assembled and test before filling all the way

This might work if you didn't block the juice chambers with cotton.
Try flooding it, hold her steady, unscrew the top, screw it back on securely. While firing the button, take a few primer puffs. Now blow, not inhale..some juice will come out of the vent holes. Clean and repeat, you'll eventually get the right pressure to normal vape.

I do this all the time on fresh build and stays normal after that.

I've experimented with all sorts of wicks in my kfls... And while I get acceptable performance from short wicks, I.e. a perpendicular coil with cotton going straight down just touching the deck, I've found my best performance comes from an angled coil with enough quick to just lay along the deck, as pictured above. Again, neither has poor performance, but with the same exact coil I can get better wicking (and therefore run higher heat and produce more and more flavorful vapes) with the the coil as above. Usually I run around 15 to 20 watts depending on what mod I'm using.

I think it's a case of to each his own, the only real important part is making absolutely sure those channels are completely clear and not blocked or obstructed in any way. For me it just seems like a slightly longer wick gives a bit more of a reservoir to keep the coil wet.
