Hi everyone, I've got an issue with my kayfun.

So two days ago I had a perfect coil setup. And for whatever reason I decided to take it out and build a better one. Well that's not how it went. I immediately noticed a burnt taste. So I cracked it open to find the wick was just fine. Reassembled with the same results. The next time I opened it up I did a dry burn to check for hot spots and that's when I noticed the terimals where the coil gets connected, was vaporizing juice before my coils got up to temperature. Didn't think anything about it, until I put it back together for about the sixth time yesterday. The wire under the screw never glows like a hot spot but it starts vaping juice as soon as I hit the button, where the coil itself takes a second to heat up. I've since put some silica around the leads and its dulled down the burnt taste but I can still tell there is an issue I'm unaware of.

So I was wondering if anyone else ever ran across this problem, and if so, how did you resolve it? Thanks in advance

From what you said everything points toward a short in your build, as you know there is a small gap between the 2 post about (1mm) and its not unusual that one of the wires of your coil bridge that gap creating a short, make sure that the wire attached to the smaller post is not touching the rectangular (larger) block. Also make sure that the silicon isolation under that block is not melted or missing that would also create a short.

My Kayfun lite hasn't been firing. I did accidentally unscrew the insulation block so I now am 100% sure that the silicon which should be under the block is gone. I didn't see anything when the block came off but I know it's gone because I took the block off yesterday to clean the whole thing well with alcohol just in case there was some gunk causing my problem. How can I replace the silicone insulation? Any ideas will help tremendously! Thanks so much for mentioning the silicone in your post. I know my problem now. Just need to know the fix.

the White insulator under the positive block is Plastic, if its not there your kayfun is dead shorted and shouldn't fire on a good regulated mod. Its dangerous to use on a mech mod. Post some pictures please so we can see whats going on should look like this picture if the insulator is in place

I fixed it by using an idea I got from someone's post who mentioned using a kanger insulator. Even though the block doesn't have a plastic sheet under it I took a kanger insulator and cut off the largest circle with a utility knife. I pushed it down over the center post, screwed the block back on an it worked like a charm. My kayfun is now insulated and fires nicely. Thanks everyone for your ideas and insite.
