hi @Sandrodec. I'd recommend getting a separate quality battery charger and an extra battery(s). While it can charge inside the unit, many battery fails occur while charging. Convenience is nice, but having the battery charger and more batteries means you are never tethered with the mod. Swap out the battery and keep on going, much more convenient.

I've been USB charging the 18650 in my 30W box mod every single day for well over a year. Never had a problem.

While it's true that most battery failures happen while charging those failures are not limited to USB charging. Batteries can fail on your separate box charger just as easily, and you're far less likely to be right there next to it when it happens. And while I can't speak for everyone, I sit next to a PC all day at work and often a couple of hours a day at home as well, so I'm almost always within a few feet of a USB port. USB charging is far more convenient than using a separate charger for me.

I don't know that many people who have 3-6 hours to just sit around babysitting a stand-alone battery charger. Never leave your batteries unattended while charging.

I'll never understand why so many people are afraid of USB charging an ecig. Do you also remove your batteries and use a stand-alone charger for your cell phone? It's the exact same mini-USB port in both.

When you hear the horror stories, half of them involve a USB passthrough device that malfunctioned. That scares off a lot of folks who don't realize that most of those stories were about a cheap chinese ego style pen that was abused before it went supernova.

From what I've read, the charging failures via USB are not the battery, but the charging circuit in the mod. Some devices are specified as ok for pass-thru, others maybe not, and if you vape them while charging may fail. (Which may be the reason for the few casualties that have happened.)

In any event, if it's a battery failure while charging in an external charger, your mod is still ok...

Being able to swap in a fresh battery and go, and charge when convenient is my preferred mode.

Some practice "Better Safe-Than Sorry" and tend to Err on the Side of Caution.
Although it very well may be Overkill, that Mantra rarely has any real Downsides.

I use the USB Internal Charger on my SubBox when it makes Sense without fear but do normally just swap Batteries out when down to one Bar and place them on a Nitecore dual-Bay. As I have several Devices and therefore several Batteries, that Practice makes the most Sense.

Besides, the ability to Swap or Replace the Battery is afterall one of the Prime Selling-Points of the SubBox and other such Devices right?

Personally I prefer the separate battery charger/ proper wall plug. For one I don't want to risk something going wrong with an electrical device (computer or mod) that would damage the other device. I'd rater lose a 10 dollar battery and a 20 dollar charger than a 50 dollar mod, or a 900 dollar pc. For this reason I use separate chargers rather than the USB. I only charge my phone in the same manner, but to each their own. It's not about "stories" to me, just a personal preference.
