I'm on my second day of no cigarettes after having started vaping last month. I am surprised that I'm not climbing the walls, but I'm not. I figured I'd give it a try and see what happens and so far so good.

Once I found a PV device I could live with (DSE 601 e-pipe), and a juice I could live with (Halo Menthol Ice 24mg), and figured out the subtle workings of filling the cart and keeping batteries on hand, I gave it my best shot not to smoke. Yesterday was the first day since I was probably 15 years old that I didn't have even one cigarette.

I'd been smoking 5 - 10 of my Kent III Ultra Lights a day while I was vaping for the last 6 weeks or so, but I had originally been smoking about 2 1/2 packs a day for over 30 years. Just cutting down to 5 or 10 a day was a miracle for me. So I knew if I could get by with just 5 or 10 I could probably get by with none as long as my pipe was working (I bought a spare one BTW).

Now I don't know how long this will last - I hope forever. But the last two days have been stress free. Lord knows what I'll do in a high stress situation. My wife still smokes, but that doesn't seem to bother me. To me, it's not about if anybody else smokes, it's about do I want to smoke any more and the answer is no.

Will I go back to smoking cigarettes? Time will tell. But I know one thing, now that I've found vaping, I don't think I'll ever go back to 2 1/2 packs of Kent III's a day. God help me.....

But with regards to smoking again, Thomas Edison is quoted as saying - I have not failed, I have successfully found a way that does not work. If I start smoking again, I'll just start vaping again, and again, and again, until it finally sticks.

Good luck to us all!

Ed.

I was a 34 year, 2 pack a day smoker. It took me 3 months with my ecig before I was able to stop analogs for good. I read a girl in the forum say that she had to think of it as switching brands, not so much quitting. That really stuck in my head and it worked! That was a year ago today. :) I still had tough days and I'd just tell myself that if I still felt that way tomorrow I would considering buying a pack. I never did. I just kept reading this wonderful forum, sometimes with 2 or 3 loaded ecigs in my hands so I could switch off.
That was over a year ago, there were no mods. There was only 801s, 901s and 401s that I knew of. Shortly after that the 510s came out.

Been vaping for about a week now, for the first few days i was craving analogs but standing near smokers took that urge away quickly. Just standing near them was enough to disgust me into not pick one up and puff away.

Smelling like an ashtray is never a good thing...

I with you here.
After a couple of days of vaping, when my sense of taste and smell returned, I found it difficult to be around people smoking.
Even my last cigarette (as I slowly finished off my last pack) was making me gag.

The whole "I'm just switching brands", idea is a good one to get into your head and keep reinforcing it. As a tobacco smoker, the whole "I can't smoke cigs anymore" thought, is when a smoker really starts to panic and psychologically it feels like you're about to cut off your arms or something similar.

I've switched brands a few times in my 17 yr smoking career and it took a couple of months to get used to the switch until it felt normal again. Its obviously different for everybody but keep telling yourself that you are just switching brands when moving to the ecig and it will help to make the transition more seemless.

I transitioned from 20ish a day habit to 4-5 a day habit on getting my ecig and continued like this for a month. I really believed it would be difficult to get rid of the early morning cigs and after meals cigs especially, but it actually wasn't bad at all, I just had to put myself in a position to not have any analogues in the house first thing in the morning (My hardest time!) and to try rely on the ecig only. It worked better than I thought.

Some people managed to move completely to the ecig while keeping a stash of emergency analogues in the house (just in case!) I found the opposite, if there was any real tobacco in the house I would've just smoked it until it was all gone, and I would've stocked up again before it was all gone so I would never have got down to a 'no supply' situation.

I firmly believe that some people who have intentions of quitting but are still hanging onto those 4 or 5 ish a day need to go out on a limb and put themselves in a position where they get slightly out of their comfort zone and be without fags in the morning or after dinner and just rely on the ecig
while repeating the mantra.."Its just a different brand" to see how it goes for a day and take it from there. If it doesn't work out don't worry about it just buy a pack of cigs and try again in a month.

On a final note, I also see many people (not necessarily on here!) say that because they smoke 40/60/80ish+ a day, that they are hard cases and have it much worse than they 10ish a day bunch, Without scientific evidence here but I've always found that to be absolute bull, most 'heavy' smokers are addicted to the 'chaining' and not as much to the nic as they would have you believe. Some 5ish a day smokers would murder their grandmother if they were denied those special 5 a day......

Anyway again remember you are just switching brands!

Im new to e-smoking sorta....

One month ago today, I decided that I don't enjoy cigarettes anymore....I believe this is due to the fire proof paper.....etc
I ordered a Tornado nicotine inhaler from Totally wicked...
Short version of the long story, I haven't smoked 1 cigarette since.
My thinking on it was it is healthier, cheaper, and more convenient than any other stop smoking option.....
I enjoy vaping, I have variables that I can change..etc.......I don't believe I will return to smoking.....just can't see that happening.......
I wish you the best of luck.......
