Hi guys, I am brand new to the forum and vaping as well. I am not a heavy smoker per say but I do have a bad habit of smoking at my work table. Normally I do five per day, if I go out it's out of control and it could be pack per evening. I am not very sporty and spend lots of time behind the computer. Recently I started cycling to work and smoking gave ma lungs quite some trouble now that I finally came around to use them more actively

Anyhow, as most of the noobs, I started out with google research, and to my great surprise I ended up with a Kgo kit instead of V2 as most of new people. But here comes a second surprise, I did not like it. The vapor had strange smell, burned my throat, I had tingling toungle, and the amount of vapor was rather shameful. I must of done something wrong, which I realized I did. I only added three drops of "juice". Still even after adding more (about 20 drops) it still was not what I expected. So I went on the google again and this time got hooked on v2 adds that made me believe it is the ultimate choice. Now that I think about it, volt sounded like a slightly better choice as they have regulated and sealed automatic batteries. Is a sad before, I am not a heavy smoker and moved to e cig for their health benefit as well as ease of use considering I like to smoke in the office, so I chose a simple low maintenance option. Ok, I am off the subject again

Before ordering the v2 online, i went to the store next door, and got ripped of 30% higher than on website price on a green smart living starter kit with just one batery and two catriges. Well, the price for starting was not my primary concern as I thought this things last forever (wrong again). But strangest thing is I found the kit much more enjoyable, easy to use and taste better than what I had with Kgo. I decided that Kgo was crap. But now that I looked at some posts here I find myself at lost.

If Kgo suppose to be better in performance and taste than v2 (not talking about some nameless ones from the store), how come I can't get it to work so?

Sorry if all this sounded too dumb, I still can't tell the difference between the cartomizers and ionizers except that one is just a half part of the other one and can be refilled and the other is just built in and pre filled for the sake of convinience.

Cheers.

If you're using cartomizers you need to make sure you fill them properly the first time you use them. There are plenty of videos out there, try searching for "condom fill method" or "taryn spin method". There's a lot of information for you to digest out there, so grab a large glass of water and a bowl of popcorn and start trying to learn as much as possible. If you find you still can't get the kGo to cooperate, you may want to think about getting a Volt. They're very easy to use and are a great starter device in a compact size.

A cartomizer is a single-piece combination of a cartridge (the thing that holds the juice) with the atomizer (the thing that turns the juice to vapor). Were you using a single piece with your Kgo battery, or did you have two separate pieces (atomizer and cartridge)?

From the sound of it, you may simply not have enough juice in it. The acrid taste and burning of the throat are both common signs that the atomizer (whether inside of a cartomizer or separate) is beginning to burn the filler material that the liquid is contained in. If you add more juice to it so that it is moist all the way through, you should not have that problem. Cartomizers tend to hold quite a bit of juice.

Something which has worked very well for me is to fill the little rubber cap that comes on a cartomizer half-way full with liquid, and then put the cartomizer into it threaded-end first, holding it between your thumb and finger (don't cover the mouth hole, or else this won't work). If you begin to see juice starting to well up in the mouth hole, stop and remove it from the end cap, wipe off any juice, and blow into it with a paper towel beneath it to blow out any excess. It is then ready to vape. When you begin to notice a reduction in flavor, add a little more juice.

First, congratulations on NOT choosing V2...I bought a Volt starter kit but tried out some V2 cartomizers and the quality when you look at their internals is horrible. Volt's products in my limited experience are top-notch in terms of quality, and I'm very happy with mine.

I've ordered a KGo also and am waiting for it to arrive. Based on reviews I'm betting you will be happy with it, but I'll let someone more experienced with vaping in general and the the KGO in particular give you guidance.

Your English is fine, by the way. Never apologize for imperfection in your SECOND language. Many of us never master our first.

I started with a KGO and had the same problem .... Fill your cartomizer till its leaking out of the bottom grab a napkin and wipe the excess juice off (try to keep the juice out of that center hole in the cartomizer and make sure you do this with a brand new cartomizer) then attach to your KGO battery if it's not tasting burnt then you know your cartomizer was not wet enough !! Always remember an atomizer or cartomizer need to be WET!!! The reason I said to do it with a brand new cartomizer is because you may have burnt the other cartomizer and usually once it's burnt that taste never goes away!!

First thing I would have to ask is - did you clean the atomizers of the priming fluid before you used them? (This is the part that screws onto the battery end). They are generally tested with a really foul tasting liquid and if it is not cleaned out before you use them, it gets all into your mouth and it tastes terrible - flat out terrible. Tongue scrubber terrible.

Drop the atomizer into a cup of really, really hot water and swish it around in there really well. Replace the water with fresh hot water and do it again. 3-4 times should be sufficient. Then take the atomizer, stick the mouth piece end in your mouth and blow into it HARD - like a clarinet - and get ALL of the water out of it that you can. Let it sit somewhere, overnight, until it is good and dry. It is also a good idea to do this every few days, or when you change e-juice flavors, so that you do not cross contaminate flavors :)

Now, onto the cartridges. (I am going to assume you are using a 3 piece set-up here). A lot of those that you purchase pre-filled with tobacco flavor juices taste n a s t y. But, many times they can be purchased for less than the blank ones cost! So, if you get pre-filled ones and they are nasty tasting, just pull the white stuffing stuff out of them and rinse the dickens out of them in hot, hot water. Again, 3-4 times is usually sufficient. Be sure to rinse those tubes out, too. Squeeze the water out of the fluffy stuff and then set all of the bits aside to dry. Overnight usually does it. Again, this is also handy for cartridges you want to fill with different tasting juices, too.

Once everything is good and dry, use the "condom method", or the "taryn spin" to refill those cartridges. A double demo! The Cartomizer Condom Filling Method, and the Taryn Spin. - YouTube Be sure to put 2-3 drops of your juice onto the bridge of the atomizer, too. (Allow the juice to soak in completely between drops). Screw everything back together and let it just sit for a few minutes - and then, vape away! Refill the cartridge whenever you notice the "fluff" getting a little bit dry. One refill will usually last about as many puffs as 4-6 regular cigarettes would.

I hope that the above helps - and don't give up on the KGO. I use them and just looooooove them. Best of luck to you!

There is no logical reason for a V2 or Volt or anything like it to taste or perform better than your kGo.
It is impossible if you are using the kGo correctly and filling the cartomizer correctly.

It is not necessary to over-analyze or over-complicate this.
The entire problem is contained in your post.
When you first tried to use your cartomizer with only 3 drops in it, you burned the filler material.
When you added 20 more drops it did not taste better because the filler was already burned.
If you burn the filler in a cartomizer, it is ruined. Throw it away.

Get a new, unused cartomizer. Fill it using the "condom method".
Add more drops whenever the vapor starts getting thin or tasting strange.
Keep it wet. It should look a little slushy on top.
If you overfill it and it leaks from the bottom or you get juice in your mouth, take it off and blow into the mouthpiece to clear it.
Dry the connectors on the kGo and the cartomizer and carry on.

It will work better than the Volt or V2 or any other e-cigarette that looks like a cigarette.

Very simple. That is all you need to do.

Thank you all very much for your replies. I can see why this forum is doing so well, it's just full of friendly and nice people who don't mind to spend some time to post a reply to a dumb sounding question from a noob, no arrogant "go look it up" style.

I think I forgot to say that I have a three piece set up, a battery, a burning thing (ionizer I believe) and a cap thing (probably a catridge). So summing up your answers I probably did burned the fluffy stuff inside the catridge as well as did not cleaned the whole thing before using it. I also probably did not add enough of the liquid.

What will try is to rinse everything clean (except the battery not ) to get rid of a Burt smell and try to refill the thing again.

On the other hand, The setting now that I am thinking of it, rater inefficient though, because the ionizer only get in contact with the fluf at single point leading to the rapid decrease in moist if used repeatedly as the liquid has to be drawn from the far end of container only by soaking. This will also rapidly decrease the volume of liquid in contact with the ionizer based on the fact that the liquid will automatically evenly spread out it density inside the fluff thing. We are not even talking about the fact that by puffing on an opposite end, we actively pulling all the liquid away from the ionizer. I would think some mod to reverse the puffing effect would improve it dramatically. Have any one tried anything on that line yet or I am doing something dumb again?

Any how, first thing first. I will get to the cleaning and soaking and let you know the result as soon as I'm done with that.

Cheers and thanks again every one.

Ok, here are the recollections and result of my ultimate rinse and wash experiment.
As tiger has suggested, I took the entire thing apart, dump the fluff out and put it all in hot water. Tem minutes of rinsing, blowing and soaking got me nearly odorless results on the fluff and the ionizer. I have to add here that I obviously did not let it dry over night but used a paper napkin to soak all the moist out.

After all was clean and dry, I took the catride, filled it up ner to the brim with the liquid and then slowly pushed the fluff back in leaving it about one mm above the edge, haning it acting as a stopper for the liquid below. At this point I soaked the protruding tip of the fluff with few more drops of the liquid and then pushed the contraption on to the ionizer. Let it sit for half a second to let the liquid wet the ionizer and then attached the set to the battery and puffed away. First puff showed low result, week vapor. But the second and the following puffs ware quite reasonable. The burnt smell was mostly gone and the vapor was relatively thick, not as thick as on the small one with a catromizer but much better than what I had before.

Now that everything is working I think the only explanation to the lower vapor and smoothness might be the liquid itself, probably the to go kit has more smoke, less nicotine and higher quality liquid in it. It also has a lighter draw. I am not sure how to solve the last bit though, maybe get a less dense fluff stuff?

Anyhow, all turned out fine, I still prefer the "instant" one for the light draw and the smooth taste, but I think I will go back to the Kgo later when I had more experience with the "juice" and probably got denoobified in some other aspects of vaping as well. My next research project would have to be on the mistery of fluff all kinds and the art of "juice".

Thank you all very much for your warm welcome and extremely useful advices.

Ps, btw, about the reverse puff thing. The Kgo catridge actually already have that. The air I'd drawn from two small intakes to the sides of the catridge and traveled pass the catridje towards the ionizer before leaving by the hole in the centre. So the ruff actually does pull the liquid towards the ionizer.

Thanks again guys and happy puffing.
Cheers.

Hi guys, it is me again. :)
As planned I stayed with the pre fills till now and started to do more research on what people do. Looked a bit at vids, mods, and other people posts. So I got encouraged and decided to give the Kgo another go. I went and bought 4 bottles of liquid from the local store, got rid of the fluff stuff and dropped three drops of liquid directly on the atomizer, pressed the button and did a puff.... Auch, that was horrible, the taste was of burnt oil mixed with some flavoring, so I washed he atomizer, tested another bottle and .. Again the same. After testing all 4 bottles with the same result I concluded that I did something stupid again. At this point I got out my old liquid that came with the Kgo and did the same with it. Surprisingly the vapor was completely fine. This means that something is wrong with the new things I got.

I have to add that the liquid came in standard bottles as often seen on YouTube, but has no labels or names except from the hand written names on the box. My guess is it's a home brew version coming from small vendor. It also is very thick, if I shake it, small bobbles that form up do not go to the surface for very long time. And lastly, after playing around with the thing now I have a severe sore throat.

So guys, what is wrong again? Di I have to dilute the stuff before using it ?

Thanks ahead.

Fan... you need some good cartomizers and put that atomizer away! I've had my kGo for four days and am loving the hell out of it, but not had good luck with the atomizer/cartridge thing. I use Boge LR 2.0 cartomizers... they're atomizer and cartridge in one unit, you fill it with your liquid, screw it on and vape.. so much easier than messing with that atty/cart combination. I started out with a V2 and loved it,, got me off the analogs,,, but the kGo is SO much better once you figure out the best combination for you.. I truly think once you get a decent cartomizer you'll be quite happy with it and won't feel the need to look for something else.. just make sure your cartomizers are 510 threaded.. hope this helps!

I think this thread you started sort of gave you too much info too fast.

The three piece setup: battery-atomizer-cartridge is outdated and a lot of hassle to use. Stop using it.

The atomizers that came with my KGO kit were not the best either, so I'd delay dripping until you get more experience and you decide to buy better atomizers.

The KGO allows you to try out pretty much everything else out there. And there is a lot to try.

To keep it simple, I would now buy some Boge low resistance cartomizers and a few drip tips. I am not advertising anything, but that's where I bought from the last few times:

510 ATOMIZERS & CARTOMIZERS
Crystal Clear Vaping (their site doesn't work at this time, will probably be back soon)
Cartomizers

Once you got the cartomizers, fill them through any of the "recommended" methods around here, such as this:

Taste Your Juice | Filling Boge 510 Cartomizers

Then vape.

After that, you can explore more - there is A LOT more to find, but I'm just trying to make sure you don't end up thinking this is too much hassle, because it really isn't.

PS: you'll want to use dript tips on top of the cartomizer (just like pbusardo does in the filling video) so make sure you grab some.
