Guess I should contribute a lil' bit to our 'ideal' Kodi setup quest...

Fer da Exodus video add-on:

- Add-on settings - General - Providers Timeout - reduce to 10 secs

- Add-on settings - Default action - select Auto Play

- Add-on settings - Progress Dialog - select Background

What dose all dat do? Reduces source search time, selects highest resolution and starts da play without punchin' 'nother button. Have tried a couple of other add-ons, but dey weren't as configurable as Exodus. Still explorin'...

In 1Channel, hitting the "w" key on the keyboard marks an entry as watched.

Trakt.tv is kind of a cool thing for Exodus or other addons to. You can make a list of your favorite tv shows or your favorite movies and in Exodus if your caught up on a series or catching up it will tell you when there is a new show on going to new shows it my tv or my movies and you won't lose it when it update which it just did yesterday. Best part it's free.

New Sports Devil also but it still doesn't work worth a crap on the weekend for live tv. Like the guy said that programs the box I have if you are looking for live tv this isn't the box for you. Worked great on Chromcast with the Fox Sports go though. Really good HD picture.

I'd like to find a way of stopping a movie and being able to go back to that place the next day. I've got all the keyboard shortcuts print

Some add ons let you do that. Asks if you want to start over or resume. However... they're like watching youtube. Just click anywhere and it advances, or rewinds. Just find out where you were before you shut it off.

II just pause, and switch to TV. Then when I switch back to KODI, it's where I left it.

But that doesn't survive a power off cycle, does it Ken? I think Legs was looking at subsequent days.

OH... When I do that, I don't power off. Probably has a lot to do with it

Well I found out more about this air mouse and how it works. All I have to do in Exodus is push the Ok button takes me to the screen with the stuff on the bottom go to stop. Then when you go back it asks you if you want to start over or resume. The more I find out about this air mouse the more I like it. Don't really use the mouse function but it gives you a multi purpose remote with keyboard on the back. The mouse function is there but you can turn it off and it works like a really full featured remote. I was going to get a logitech keyboard but I can do everything with this remote. Keyboard not that small I very rarely have to use the pointer which can be a real PITA don't need it or rarely.

So in Exodus if you go to the controls you can bring up and hit the stop button instead of the pause button it will remember it. Not sure about other addons. I find myself using X a lot what is Zen. That's one I don't have. I tried Pro Sports and Sports Devil this weekend to get a live NFL game and forget it. Came up with about 10 streams and everyone was a no go. Figured everyone was trying to watch them. Will have the new receiver for Dish on Saturday. Has to be installed which is free so thats fine. Seahawks looked pretty bad in Florida, we gotta do something about the offensive line, they suck. Lowest paid offensive line in the business. That new guy they signed ex Basketball player and it shows is ONLY getting $540,000 sheesh I wish I was that low paid.

screw both of you Seattle fans

Pro Sport and especially Sportsdevil can be hit or miss. But i've successfully used one or the other most Sundays. The best stream on Sportsdevil is usually VipBox. Sportsdevil almost always gives me the pre-game ESPN or NFLN shows.

Found a new (for me) thing. Adding and removing shortcuts to the KODI home screen

Homescreen Shortcuts in Kodi

Now I got rid of the two addons I couldn't use and added one I do use.

Yeah, problem is, limited to 5. And I sure wish there was a way to rename some of them so they make sense to me!

I did find out on Exodus if you turn the movie off using the pop up controls at the bottom of the screen and hit stop then go back to the same provider it will keep your place for a long time. Trakt.tv is really cool too. I'm almost thinking about getting a VIP membership. They do a lot for free and I feel like I use it enough to make it worth 30 clams a year. What is great is you put all the TV shows you watch and I found this out too if you make a separate personal list, I have 2 one named TV and 1 Movies. You go to their website and add all the shows or movies you want to see then when you go to new episodes it will show you the new episodes and a check mark if you've already seen it only the ones you have on your list. It's worth going to trakt.tv and signing up for an account and then authorizing it in Exodus and there are some others also. If you want to see exactly how go to YT and Sky Stream put out a video of how to sign up and authorize it then how to use it also.

Ken, thanx! Gotta say dat I've 'explored sooooo many builds. Very few have met my most basic requirements. Plus, dere is all too many BS add-ons. Will say though, I've really learned a lot!

Last night I did a lil' experiment and went out to self-build a basic youth educational set-up. Talk 'bout a diversion. WOW, what an experience! Sooo much info out dere...

But I'm at da point where I think I'll gonna build my own 'build' to 'trim' da fat and dead 'meat'.

Gary, just break you categories into more specific main menu items.

BTW, if y'all aren't sucked in deep 'nuff, take a lookie here...

Well I don't think I'm up for that got my Dish bill down to $38 and have all my locals in HD. I still have HBO which not sure if I am going to keep. I can watch WW a couple days after on Exodus. Haven't had a buffering issue since my speed change and Real Debrid, Knock on wood. I tried that 4k from Netflix and honestly could not see that big a diff so I got rid of it so that cost me $2 to try.

Ty for the invite Gents. Gimme a week to get caught up on the thread, lol. I pretty much just have Exodus right now. When I try for much else, I get logging error issues.

1Channel is better than Exodus? Free?

Bob,

Glad you're aboard!

I've loaded at least a hundred builds lookin' fer an unbloated sleek simple setup. My main issue is tryin' to find an EZ-PZ format fer my bride.

I'm currently dedicating a Fire TV Stick just as a self-build experimental platform. Live TV is my biggest Kodi challenge at dis point. Well, dat and setting up 'favorites fer her. Haven't delved much into dat... yet...

Regardless, I've poked 'round 'nuff to know dat Exodus is my fav movie add-on!

Wid my 'lil knowledge of logging issues, I even have to remind myself dat we are at da mercy/attention/maintenance support of da 'providers'. Ergo, I'd luv to build my own package.

Also, just a last hint fer dis post, enter da file manager source EXACTLY as presented! Don't how know how much time I wasted 'chasing my tail' due to a finger fart...

As a side note, must say dat my 'streaming venture' is a welcomed and challenging new impetus re my mental gymnastics!

Later...

It depends on what you like. with Exodus you need to be subscribed to a service that keeps your favorites... With 1Channel, you just put the shows in favorites.

The interface is different, so if you check it out, you can decide which you want to use as your main one.

? I'm knot subscripterated to nuttin and save fav's,

"...with Exodus you need to be subscribed to a service that keeps your favorites..."

Dat's a new piece of news...

Mebbe sew but kodi itself will save. Anybuddy notice wut the star is four on da main paige?

(pssst. It bringz up saves. AKA favs)

I will have to look into that... I've been doing a search each time... I tried to set something as a favorite, but couldn't find it.

I have both Exodus and 1Channel (Primewire). Also don't subscribe to any service, but I've had a free membership at Primewire for several years. It has been my go-to for free TV and movies for a long time. However, I find the viewing experience much smoother when watching through Kodi instead of on the computer. Popups are a real irritant when you watch 1Channel on the computer's browser.

I discovered a great trick with Exodus. I've also had a free membership at IMDB (Internet Movie Database) for several years. It has information about almost every movie and TV show ever made, and you can create a watchlist of movies/shows you want to see. You can't actually watch them on IMDB, though. Anyway, I discovered I can link my IMDB watchlist to Exodus and have Exodus search for movies that I have on the list. It doesn't always find them, but I have managed to find quite a few.

Exodus and Primewire don't interfere with each other, and neither is cumbersome to use. I like having both on Kodi.

ETA: Yes, Kodi and 1Channel (Primewire) are both free.

Find the show, right klik... save as fav.

right click on a kodi box???

Chek da userz guide. I think i put a link here. (yes i have a kb n mouse) Try hitting C. Don't really remember how to do it da hard way.

user guide

Bwahahahahahaha!

Yes. I knew how to add to favorites, just not how to GET to Favorites in Exodus.

I must have a different version though... there is no * entry in mine. Give me a couple of min, and I will get a pic

OK

Here is my main screen for Exodus

View attachment 621633

And when I click on the My Movies or My TV Shows, I get this at the bottom of the screen

View attachment 621635

That's not the basic kodi screen, ken.

View attachment 621661

Right out of the box this is what you should see. The star in the lower left opens all your saves/favs. Some add onz, like The Royal We can save internally to itself. I'm not sure if they go into favs too.

I do remember that screen. I think I had it once myself but didn't like it. But honestly don't remember how to get to it or to change it back to a stock screen.

Don't have, atm, either machine with Kodi installed, so can't check the version numbers.... but have the "latest" (16.x?) on my tablet, and it has a totally different home screen...

16.1 Jarvis is the latest but the new one (krypton) is due for release any day now they say. I think it's going to look something like Kens layout.

Must be the Krypton (beta) on my tablet, then. Hope the release is better, as, imo, the beta isn't ready for prime time!

On the udder hand, mebbe the android app iz different.

Ah.... The KODI screen. I was in the EXODUS screen.

Thanks for that!

Don't applaud, just throw quarterz.

IMHO, exodus iz great but doesn't have everything. In fact "nothing" has everything.

And that is why I use 1channel first, and Exodus second.... Not sure if there are any other backup ones, but if anyone has recommendations.... Well, I don't need any more sport-only recommendations. Just general TV.

I think I got exodus and primewire up and running ok, it's just those dang Check Log errors that pop up and keep me from checking some things out.

I'm just running this on a small tablet and win7 pc to start.

When my awesome Sony tube finally dies ( hope soon) , do I need a Smart TV or an Android tv??

I downloaded a program called Stream All the Sources, but I'm not really happy with it. I find it very inaccurate at times. I mean, it will search a large database of sources for a movie and find the title, but many times when you open the movie you'll find it's not what it was supposed to be. I have no idea why that happens, but I've yet to discover anything with that program that works properly. Still, reviews say it's a good program, so I'm confused about it.

@r77r7r, yes.

That is to say, any TV or monitor you can hook up an android box to, or even possibly add the KODI app to.

It depends on what you want

I had the same expierence with it, so don't use it.

Specto Fork is the new Genesis and has everything Exodus has. But Exodus has everything I need for music I use Google apps and cast them to the sound bar but with RealDebrid I usually get anything on Exodus with the first stream except Friday and Sat night. For music I use Pandora and Spotify at present.

Try Trakt.tv it's free and you can add it as a plug in. Make your own lists of favorites for tv will tell you when there are new episodes on Exodus or Specto keeps track of what you watch, you can go to their website and add shows really easily to your lists. I use it all the time.

If you really want a box with a good build already in it and lots of support and help with things get a SkyStream. I have absolutely no problems with it. Don't have to add addons they put the best on there and when they do an update will take the dead ones off and add the new ones that are proven to work well. I am really glad I put the extra bucks out to not have the headaches and RealDebrid is also well worth the $3 a month even if it is in France.

Thats why you need to sign up for Trakt.tv its free but you need to have an account there so they can keep track of what you watch. You can either put the plugin into kodi or you can authorize it but you have to have an acct. Again it is free but when you authorize it in Exodus it will give you a number and it has to be entered into trakt.tv/activate. If you need to see how to use it just in Exodus go to the SkyStream channel on YouTube and watch the video on linking to trakt.tv. They give you all the answers.

I forgot it's Friday night and with RD I'm just going to the first stream and it works with no buffering. I haven't had any buffering since I increased the speed to 40Mbps and got Real Debrid. Sometimes the streams don't work real good on movies that are just out of the theater a day or two but for anything else EZ PZ/ I'm watching Season 4 of Vikings. I don't use any 4k streams but the 1080p work great.

Oh and another thing I forgot if you decide you want to try a SkyStream get it from SkyStream or EliteMods. Elite Mods is the ones that program the box they are a couple mile from each other in Orlando. You could check out their FB page also the MySkystreamX group is a closed group for Skystream owners and one of the prorammers is there most of the time. I also have a $3 a month subscription to a service they have that can go into your box if you have problems and straighten them out. They don't suggest any addons that are not included. Might seem a little invasive but these guys really do a great job.

And that is why i'ma not gonna sign up for anything that tracks what I do. It's not their business weather I want to watch cartoons, the joy of painting, or Star Wars. I tend to be a very private online person. I like and talk to my neighbor's, but they already know where I live.

Me too Ken. I'm not about to create accounts on any of the streaming server sites / apps. No telling where that information spreads to. Bad enough google, verizon, comcast, and all the shopping sites are tracking me ... don't need some quasi-legal sites doing the same.

Well if all they need is an email address, I'm comfortable. Just got notified that Yahhho got hacked for the second time so I just use that account for junk now.

I think that is all they need is your name and email, no CC possibly your city but you can put anything there. It's just a service that you use you don't need the plugin but they need that so that when you authorize it to track Exodus or Specto or 1 channel you enter a number that pops up on the screen. They don't ever bother you but when you want to find a certain movie go to their site and do a search and it will bring up all the movies with that name tells you the stars when it came out and just add it to one of your lists if it is the one you want, then when you go to exodus or whatever it is there on your list. Surprising how many movies are out there with the same name. They have over 2mil subscribers cause it will work with Kodi, Netflix, Plex and several others. After you create an acct when you go there it remembers you and brings up your history of what you've seen and what is coming up and when you go to new episodes on exodus or whatever and it will show you the latest episode. I knew I wouldn't get you guys to even take a look at it but it is definately worth the price. $000

"I knew I wouldn't get you guys to even take a look at it but it is definately worth the price. $000"

Whoa, I check out what ever y'all discuss. As long as 'registration' doesn't include a CC, I'll 'test da waters'!

BTW, I do use NordVPN...

I did put a vpn on my pc of late to improve the signal, but do we really need it? I don't do porn or download shows or watch TV shows from outside of the US.

"I did put a vpn on my pc of late to improve the signal, but do we really need it? I don't do porn or download shows or watch TV shows from outside of the US."

Advantages to VPN?

  • Access a Business Network While Travelling: VPNs are frequently used by business travellers to access their business’ network, including all its local network resources, while on the road. The local resources don’t have to be exposed directly to the Internet, which increases security.

  • Access Your Home Network While Travelling: You can also set up your own VPN to access your own network while travelling. This will allow you to access a Windows Remote Desktop over the Internet, use local file shares, and play games over the Internet as if you were on the same LAN (local area network).

  • Hide Your Browsing Activity From Your Local Network and ISP: If you’re using a public Wi-Fi connection, your browsing activity on non-HTTPS websites is visible to everyone neraby, if they know how to look. If you want to hide your browsing activity for a bit more privacy, you can connect to a VPN. The local network will only see a single, secure VPN connection. All the other traffic will travel over the VPN connection. While this can be used to bypass connection-monitoring by your Internet service provider, bear in mind that VPN providers may opt to log the traffic on their ends.

  • Access Geo-Blocked Websites: Whether you’re an American trying to access your Netflix account while travelling out of the country or you wish you could use American media sites like Netflix, Pandora, and Hulu, you’ll be able to access these region-restricted services if you connect to a VPN located in the USA.

  • Bypass Internet Censorship: Many Chinese people use VPNs to get around the Great Firewall of China and gain access to the entire Internet. (However, the Great Firewall has apparently started interfering with VPNs recently.)

  • Downloading Files: Yes, let’s be honest – many people use VPN connections to download files via BitTorrent. This can actually be useful even if you’re downloading completely legal torrents – if your ISP is throttling BitTorrent and making it extremely slow, you can use BitTorrent on a VPN to get faster speeds. The same is true for other types of traffic your ISP might interfere with (unless they interfere with VPN traffic itself.)
Since I no longer perform porn <riiight...as if ever>, my main reason to use a VPN is to have access to USA geo-blocked contents, and mask bit torrents, if I ever need!

Never heard of VPN being a signal enhancer. Day-um, mo' research. Did it help ya?

I've noticed that I've been getting my full quota of Molly Bites steady throughout the day. I did try it earlier this year with a different provider and noticed no improvement with them. I use the free version of Opendns on my computer.

Oh, so basically what my 1Channel app does without wanting all that information.

in 1channel, I just hold click the series I want and say to add it to favorites, and there it is... in the 1Channel favorites.

It is put to a file right there on the KODI, instead of somewhere in the cloud.

I guess IDK I never use 1channel, I have it but everything I want is on Exodus and Specto. I have probably 20-25 others in the video section but I just don't use them. 95% of the time I use Exodus and it never fails me. I can always get an hd stream and most of the time 1080p. I like using the HEVC streams seem to load up quicker. I never try to watch live tv on the box it's more of a pain then it is worth. But just for the heck of it thought I'd try 1 channel works fine watching Magnificent 7. Seems that 1 Channel, Specto-Fork and Exodus has pretty much the same progamming. This movie was #1 last week. The thing I like with trakt is when you go to the website you see who stars in it, who wrote it, what year it came out, other peoples ratings of it, a big section of what the movie is about. It's just nice especially if you are looking for a certain version of the movie. You look up It's a wonderful life and there are about 3 or 4 different ones, colorized or not all the stuff you don't see when searching. You don't have to give them a lot of info and the site is only run by 3 full time people and they do a hell of a job. Plus it is so easy to just go through and find things and add them to your list. I can go there and add 15 or 20 shows the correct version in about 5 min. Then when you go to Kodi and Exodus, Specto, Salts which is by 1 channel they are there. I didn't really check about 1 channel but I don't think it carries over to there. I just thought I would mention it cause they make the process so easy that I love it. And for me it works great because when SkyStream comes out with and update for Kodi and other channels like Mobdro you lose your settings then you just go back in and reauthorize trakt and real debrid and it's all there. Before I got Real Debrid I had a lot of problem with buffering or the sound would go out or pic would go out and sound still there now using the RD streams I don't have that problem. Just thought you guys would like to check them out never get any unwanted emails. They provide a lot of services and even more if you get the VIP for $30 a year. Myself I love it just like I love this SkyStream box and the support that is available to include Videos, Helpful tips to keep your box running perfectly. I haven't regretted what I paid once. I watch what I want when I want it with no glitches.

Glad you are happy with it 2legs... just not the same experience for me

Did you get a Skystream?

Rominetak.

Yeah I went against the Grain and got the SkyStream and haven't been disappointed. Just using their build and addons and really haven't been watching anything else since it came. I don't add anything that is not already here which really is everything that is good. I don't mess with any of the settings just leave everything like they have programmed in. When there is an update to Kodi or any addons that are dead or new ones that they have tested and found to work well it's all handled through the updater. The only bad thing about the updater is it loses all your custom settings like Real Debrid or Trakt so you have to reauthorize those but absolutely no problems and the air mouse with the keyboard on the back also works perfectly it has a little bit of a learning curve but there is a lot of help on the FB page for that all you have to do is ask and there is usually a programmer from Elite Mods on there. They are the ones who program the box. I can't say enough good about it, it was well worth the extra $$$ to me almost as easy as the Roku not quite but really easy.

Oh and they have a whole series of videos on most of the important things on YT. And for the most part I use in order Exodus, Specto, and 1channel. Since I got the speed increase to 40Mbps and RealDebrid plus having it connected with Ethernet I can usually go to the first stream and it is great, no buffering. Occasionally like on Friday and Saturday night I might have to go to an HD stream instead of a 1080p but I really can't tell the diff.

Vidzi tends to buffer a lot for me, but not many of the other ones.

Delivered my first Christmas KODI box today. It went to my brother... The other two are going to be opened on Christmas. One for the parents, and the other for my sister.

Well SkyStream fixed the problem of losing all your settings when you update Kodi. Now when you update using their updater you get a clean version of Kodi and it saves all your setting. It was a major complaint and they put their programmers on it and fixed it. They said it was a whole bunch of coding but now when you do an update it saves all your Trakt and RealDebrid info and any other favorites you have set and it automatically turns Exodus to 10sec max for finding a stream plus the added some special things for 4k which requires real debrid. It's kinda cool having support in the US. Plus they listen to you. plus the latest update gets rid of a couple dead addons. When you run the updater you still get the same version of Kodi but the addons are sometimes different but always the good ones and it's a clean install of Kodi.Watching a good Christmas flik Predator. Ha

Rominetak Does that.love it

Yep its a great feature. Vidzi I've never really heard of they have Maverick, CCloud some others that run 24/7 shows. The real good ones 1channel, Specto, Exodus, Salts some British ones but I mainly use Exodus. Oh and they have Sports Devil and the other real poplular sports addon forget which one cause I usually only watch Seahawks football, they have Mobdro but havent messed around with it much.

Vidzi is one of the streams that come up when you select to watch a show.

I'm assuming that there is a web site associated with it, but I've never actually been to those sites. KODI is my first streaming app.

wow.... Nice enough video, but that guy has a more severe case of ADHD than I do.

Have any of you guys tried Specto. It's just like Exodus except most of the Real Debrid streams come up as HQ instead of HD but they are 1080HD. The real beginners package is a Sky Stream. I don't know what this means exactly but it is the only box to utilize all 8 cores of video by the tweaks they have done which you download through their updater. If I ever bought another it would be another one of these but I have a 2 year warranty and nearly instant support. Just join the MySkystreamX FB page and you'll see what I mean. These babies are no hoax. I tried their XXX addons but they are just too raunchy uninstalled them. They are working on keeping these updated all the time. I am pretty sure if you are really technically inclined you could do what they do yourself with a cheaper box but the only time I don't use it is for the games and local news. I am really glad you turned me on to this Kodi stuff Gary I haven't even watched Netflix or Amazon since I got it. Some really excellent addons for movies and tv for me are 1 channel, Specto, Exodus, Phoenix and a couple others. Get the same quality with all and the only buffering I've had was trying to watch a 4k on Release Hub.

Specto is a good one. Gotta remember, sometimes some have problems so if one is flaky go to another. Phoenix another good one.

Sky is basically UK stuff. Huge company over there. Kinda like abc, nbc and cbs combined.

may be uv interest to sum...

Did anyone ever post a place to go to fix all these errors I usually get?

Geez ... I can't understand this guy. The 2nd add-on intrigued me for terrestrial TV but dang if I could hear/understand the name of it.

Yeah Exodus was screwed up for a couple days no matter what you picked you got minions. I just went to specto for a couple days. Same content. They did an update on Exodus last night and all is well.

I don't know what the errors are but a lot of times on some of the not so good addons they are up and down, that's why I don't use them. Check for updates. I have heard of a couple of them that are dead Metalliq is one and theres another but the post must've been deleted. Try Exodus, 1 channel, Specto, Phoenix.

Yepper, last night I finally watched Minions (since Exodus got me dere, why not...)

Specto gave me errors mid-day yesterday. Haven't checked today yet.

minyunz wuz kute.

Looks like exodus is gonna bite da bag. So replacement?

Ok. Phoenix, specto and SALTS. Pretty much in that order. At least for me.

Had not heard this. Exodus is the only Kodi app I use consistently. So, Phoenix looks to be the best bet?

It's not bad. The exodus developer just quit. So it's up in the air if someone else will work with it. But the last few days I'm having issues with it.

I haave not heard that either. I just had an update pushed through and have had absolutely no problems. Specto, Zen, 1channel are all good too. 2 of those are based on Lamdo's code the developer of Exodus. I will go over and ask about it. Phoenix is also good there are several actually. I think Lamdo developed Phoenix also. It sounds like from what I heard on the FB forum there are some others that will take it over. I honestly have never figured out how or why they do it but they do.

Any place I said Lamdo it is Lambda. My mistake.

Um, so the name's been changed to protect the ..... innocent??

Hmmm guess we'll have to wait and see what transpires.

Even though λ (Lambda, Exodus developer) has left da 'building', it is expected dat Exodus will be picked up by da team. Regardless, Exodus should be valid fer da near future.

As to my favs due to consistency, I like Exodus, Zen, 123 Movies, SALTS, Specto, Phoenix and a 'newcomer' Excalibor. Exodus is my 'prime goto'.

Fer da Kodi n00bs, keep in mind dat streaming sources/addons may not be always available/updated. Ergo, I have multiple sources. Don't put all your 'chips' in one bucket!

Am currently researching IPTV addons. But again, have alternative 'gotos'!

Due to da BP question, I'll check wid Classy to see if 'they' can convert dis conversation into a thread...

Exactly that is the motto of the programmers at SkyStream don't get married to one addon. Specto is nearly the same, same code I believe as is Phoenix and Zen. I've heard TV addons are doing some things also. I had a new addon show up on my SS called Indigo which seems to be a maintenance addon. Elite Mods are saying don't do anything with it they will have an answer tomorrow and possibly a new update. Right now the current version of Exodus is 3.0.5 and is working great.

Personally, I like 1Channel. easy for me to use and everything. For those few that I cannot watch on 1Channel, I use Exodus.

How is the interface for Excalibor?

"How is the interface for Excalibor?"

Not near as sophisticated or 'complete' as Exodus, Zen or Phoenix.

Zen seems better than Exodus

Such drama with all this. Developers quitting, top secret settings, and yet another video to watch. Just to watch a little teevee

Superbowl play OK on kodi?

Just moving Pat's posts from the Sandbox to the convo so they don't get lost.

And on da udder hand... no problemz whatsoever on my $50 boxes.

Fine...I just read all the posts n I'm STILL in the dark!!:(

It sounds way too complicated for me...:(

My peabrain can only handle :plug n play".

Gary as this one and is quite happy with it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C5HFHUI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BP5KOPA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

At the other end of the price scale, 2legs has one of these and is quite happy with it.

Stream Movies, TV Shows & Sports | SkyStream Streaming Media Player

Both are 'plug & play' ... you just have to learn how to play with them.

@2legsshrt - I brought your 2 stranded posts about Skystream from the sandbox to the thread.

When I looked at Skytream dot com and your recommendation to get it from Elitemodfl dot com (note, need the fl at the end of their name) actually Skystream is $.01 cheaper.

Also the $150 package from either place doesn't have an airmouse. It's $170 for an airmouse w/keyboard.

But it sure sounds like your getting decent support by getting if from Elitemodfl dot com.

Well I'm here. I still think the SkyStream box while being more expensive if you get it from Elitemods.com $150 with the air mouse or if you have the space for a Logitech K400 keyboard and mouse pad around $20 then the box is like $130. It has about a 15 min setup and the support is amazing on their FB page. You have all the best addons. Never have a problem getting what you want using Real Debrid and Trakt.tv for your lists. It has been absolutely trouble free. Watch any movie that is out on DVD all network programs usually the next day availablility. Updates everytime addons go down or repos are updated. The FB page has 2 of the techs that do the actual programming of the box and work with the addons to make sure they are compatible with the box. We watch it 90% of the time in HD 1080 and 5.1 Dolby Digital. I know there are other boxes less money but this one is almost as easy as using Roku or Amazon Fire. They do have a program for $3 a month which is only needed if you don't keep up with the updates and they will go into your box remotely and straighten it out with your permission. Not needed if you keep up with the updates that the box tells you about in an RSS feen at the bottom of the screen when you open Kodi. 4 months and works great. They do tweaks to Kodi their updater now keeps all your settings for you like Real Debrid so you don't have to re authorize. I think it is the most carefree box out there. If you don't mind doing all the legwork yourself you can get cheaper boxes but the support on these is fantastic and comes out of FL. Always someone there to answer your questions within 30 min. If it is an addon that you don't need its not there but is available through their more addons and you also can use any of the apps in the Google store. I wish you guys could see how well it works. One thing I have not tried yet is USTVnow plus which offers you all network programming free in HD for 45 days after its SD but for $19 it offers 29 channels like Lifetime, Hallmark. It is amazing. Not any more advanced and not as advanced as some but works all the time and Real Debrid makes it even better for $3 a month.

So thats my speel on that box if you get one get it from Elitemods.com. They have a support phone# to call anytime during business hours that will put you in contact with a tech but have never needed it. Get all my info from the FB group. You can check out the group on FB it is called MySkystreamX it is a closed group but also welcome non owners, just follow their rules like not naming an Movies or Stars or swearing or saying bad things about members not allowed. It deal specifically with the Skystream boxes no personal stuff but really informative. Oh and I got the extra year of warranty for $12 which they will replace your box for free if anything should happen to it. So thats 2 years of warranty and it runs on Android 5.1 so it will be ready for Kodi 17 when it is stable and they have completely checked it out for compatibility. Right now my favorite addons in order are Exocus, Specto Fork, 1 channel, Phoenix, Zen, Evolve, Salts, Maverick, Not into Sports Devil but its there, Mobdro is there, Xunity Maintenance tool also haven't checked out Pluto TV

I had gotten wind of this over in the Sandbox, very timely for me. I started researching streaming a month or so ago and am almost ready to tell UVerse where they can... well, you all know what I mean.

I picked up a new modem and router and signed a deal with the devil (AKA Comcast) for new internet only service. With AT&T I was getting right around 20 Mbps up and 5 down, now with Comcast I'm right at 85-90 up and 12 down. I figure that should provide a nice (fairly) buffer free stream.

I picked up a Moho Sky 60 for local channels and have Amazon Prime already, originally primarily for the free shipping. I'm looking into which way to go and appreciate the insights y'all have put out here already.

How is the Sky 60 working out for you? I'm just starting to learn a bit about antennas for future reference. I have my 84-year-old mom living with me and can't really drop cable right now, but I'd do it in a heartbeat if it was only me or if I find a way to do it and still get the channels my mom likes.

To be honest, it's still in the box. I'm off tomorrow and that's on the agenda to install. I bought a cheap, $16, antenna just for proof of concept a few weeks ago and with it I'm getting about 40 channels, most in HD. It's hooked up to one TV, with the Sky I'm going to split the signal and run to both. During the Super Bowl UVerse started cutting in and out. This was one of the main things that got me looking in the first place. I switched over to the antenna and had a better picture with no annoying signal loss.

If you haven't, check out TV Fool and you'll get a good idea of what stations you will be able to get and how strong an antenna you'll need.

I have kind of a weird problem with using an antenna for local stations. I live in Tennessee, and all my local channels are from Nashville (via cable). But, I actually live closer to Huntsville, Ala., and those TV stations come in strongest here via antenna. I have no interest in those stations at all. I'm thinking I'm going to have to come up with an outside antenna to get the Nashville stations, and I don't really want to fool with that.

So, I'm sort of stuck.
