well. this sucks.
Romaintak told me to uninstall 16.1 and then load 17.1 to get the upgrades.
unfortunately, I didn't wright down where I did my backup/restore from, and now I cannot FIND it. I had almost 60 TV series and around 30 movies that I was keeping track of, and now I don't know how to get them back!!
anyone know what the file names would be so I can try searching for them?

Hmm... don't remember 16 to 17. I know 17 to 17.1 you just DL 17.1 and install it right over 17. Keeps all the settings.
But I think u have to manually give it a place to back up to. Like C:/whatever/whatever.
But if you uninstalled it may have just dumped that as well.

I found the xml files from 16.1, so going to eventually use them to re-create. Sucks to be me these days.

If the file still exists,, I can help you find it, but you should do it soon, are this Windows or Android? You should start search by date for recent files, filetype .zip you can try by file size too backups can be big files, mine is almost 1 gig if that helps.
Use one of the wizards next time like ares or indigo to backup, the backup addon only stores profile data which can work but has caused issues in the past, most times it will restore only my repo's and my plex stuff, and some addons in a disabled state. the wizards will backup everything... Including favorites.
Another way to restore it would be to copy the two folders that are inside your profile folder directly to user data.

It's been a while since I tripped through this thread, and it's taking a turn that is skirting our rules. As long as the apps being discussed are legitimate and are used for content that's legitimately paid for, it's fine. But ignoring copyright laws to download content that hasn't been paid for can't be discussed here. The last thing ECF wants is a DMCA take down request because members are discussing how to obtain content that isn't paid for.
according to all sources.. that would not have mattered. the 61.1 backup cannot be used with 17.1
Which is a bit short-sided of people. Next major upgrade, I'm not gonna be using the company version, just upgrade on a general version that may let me keep my data.
Is this a sky stream thing? Still, I don't see how a 16 backup wouldnt work just bc a different veraion... it's pretty much just raw data... I would ditch the sky stream builds and do your own if that's a case, but then again there's is just a build as well.
Did you try just directly unzip or copy/paste the two folders "addons", "userdata" to your kodi userdata folder? That should force it to load your stuff when you restart kodi.
I'm serious folks. We don't discuss how to get content that's covered by copyright without paying for it.
At a minimum, films are covered by a 25 year copyright most are covered by a "lifetime" standard (yeah, we can thank Disney for that one). We may not like it, but we still have to follow the law here. There will be absolutely NO posts detailing where to obtain works that haven't been paid for.
