I think Comcast is like all the biggies they want you to subscribe to 150 useless channels also. The only reason I got that package from Dishnetwork is I have been with them for 20 years. It's not available as far as they are concerned. I've heard USTVnow is pretty good. I haven't tried it but it has a free month I believe in HD then it's $20 for the first 3 months for the networks and goes to 30 after that or you can go with more channels and even a DVR cloud based I'm sure for $30 then $40. I looked at some of the different packages from Sling, Direct TV go, USTVnow also PS Vue. The Vue looked like it had the best packages for the least money. At least from what I watch.

    This looks doable?

... fixing addons and repo's and other things over the phone became a nightmare...

kiba, I learned a looong time ago, no phone assistance from moi re 'tronics, 'puters nor vapin'!!!!!!

Pat & I have consulted each other via PMs ('conversations') re Kay's issue. Like I told him, just wish I was there in person.

I'll bet dollars to bacon rashers dat da solution is sumpin' all too obvious...

What really puzzles me is dat we know she has a 'puter connection; assuming <I know, I know> via wifi.

Yeah that is puzzling as it was said in Contact. I don't have a cable modem but on mine it shows green lights on all the ethernet connections that are connected and they are called ethernet on the modem. I assumed that LAN would be the wired connections to other devices not sure. If something on mine isn't working it doesn't light up such as internet or wireless and it makes no sense by rebooting the modem that something would go wrong.

    @oldbroad
I see a lot of helpful suggestions for you here... but nothing specific to your devices.
    Let's start with:
what brand/model is your TV? I had to find that out for my parent's so I could get it connected to the internet.
...This is separate from your KODI issues. You seem to have two going at once and treating them as the same thing will just make things worse.

For your SS box. reboot the box, and before going into KODI, go to settings, then network, then WIFI. see if you can connect to your network with your network password.

yep Ken check that video I posted it goes through the steps. As far as sizing the screen I was going to tell her to skip that till she gets it hooked to WiFi. Also need to make sure WiFi is turned on and her connection should be there. That yellow light IDK but it didn't seem to affect her wireless connection to her computer because she posted after that. Like I said someone on the forum had the same problem with the same ISP and same brand modem which also makes me wonder. He had to take it back to the cable company and get a different brand. I am sure that both her computers are hooked to WiFi cause her modem is in the living room, laptop in the sunroom and desktop in the bedroom from my understanding.

The first one is serial number, the other three, basically separate mac address types for a cable modem.

if anything, a sticker with like, a default wpa-psk on it, that would be on the router. *if* it is there. Sometimes don't have that or it could of been peeled off.

All this one has is "model' and P/N, besides all the other capitalized letters I posted earlier.

I'm telling you, sometimes this stuff is more trouble than than it's worth lol. Here's a good example, my grandma saw the one I did for my brother & wanted me to set up a fire stick for her, I did and sideloaded kodi on it but like everything possible went wrong with it (she lives in Delaware btw, so trying to walk her through fixing addons and repo's and other things over the phone became a nightmare) but shes stubborn and retired, lol so she didn't want to give up on it... She told me a few months ago that she had found a box that came with support, I'm guessing something like Sky stream, but she's always fiddling with something and so she's on the phone with them constantly.

I told her those people must just love you I bet, she was like, oh yeah, we're on a first name basis. lolz... These days when family or freinds ask me to do it for them I explain that it's not a magic TV box, and usually reccommend netflix or Hulu or PS vue, but if they have their heart set I'll load my personal build for them and hope for the best, mine is pretty simple & easy but I don't control if addons or repo's break, or if you randomly start up kodi one day and everything is gone, or the thousand other things that can & will happen, and since I was the one who set it up for them they are going to have a very hard time troubleshooting it.

:eek:Am I your grandma? She sounds a lot like me!

Yeah if she doesn't want to mess with it a fire box would be handy, you can always load Kodi on that but thats even more hassle then having it already there. Rokus are also very easy almost run themselves and simple to have Netflix, Amazon, Sling and a ton more but not for kodi. I think she already has an Amazon acct and Netflix is only $10 and it seems to be getting more and more newer movies. But I like the way Kodi has all the seasons and episodes so you're not at their will of what you can watch. It's like the Hobbit not available on any of the streaming services but kodi. Well she can get her money back and thats good. I just wished she could get it hooked with a Lan cable and everything else would be easy. I kinda feel responsible cause I talked her into it, The SS is probably the easiest one but not if you can't get it to connect.

Pat...you are NOT responsible!!!!! I really believe it's error on my and my grandaughters part! But today I'll know for sure cuz a guy with SS1 is gonna call me and help me set it up.

Re Exodus, nothing has changed on our end. the base code is the same, tvaddons only added language support. Actually it's all based on genesis script, I still have genesis and it still works fine with no updates in Idk how long, bc it only relies on urlresolver like Exodus. but specto, zen etc, all forks of genesis.

Yes, the LAN light is yellow and flashing. I called the cable service twice and their story was that nothing's wrong with it, it's supposed to flash continually...then she said that my internet service was running fine on their end, but they could a service tech out...but if they found nothing wrong, I'd have to pay a service call...about $50 or more.
