Kicking the old bad habits & starting fresh!

I will try not to bore everyone with my story. I am a smoker that has been puffing away for about 15 years or so give/take a few years. I quit smoking recently because I was SO tired of the smell, the cost, and the overall effects from smoking. As of a week or so ago I started using this free trial from zemocigs.com because it seemed like a good deal. I like vaping, but I think the jury is still out for me on whether or not I should just stick to these ecigs or should I keep on trying new free trials? Does anyone recommend a brand for a total newbie or more free trials till I make up my mind? My goal ultimately is to vape as little as possible, because I am training for a marathon. I want to be able to say I don't smoke/drink/vape (little white lie there). I would love to hear what people have tried as a beginner ecig or what has worked for them. I currently just use the Zemo and I don't really vape that much. I quit drinking and I am working out daily now.

Thanks.

I think the question you have to answer is whether or not the freebies have been working for you. If you use them because they are keeping you off of the burners, then stick with them. If you're just using them because they were free then stop. Personally, if I stopped vaping, I'd probably go back to smoking. I might make it without either for a while, but push would ultimately come to shove and then I'd be right where I started.

With regard to brand, it also depends on what works for you. I bought a single Blu disposable and thought it was OK, but it really didn't even help me smoke any less because, try as I might, I'd light up a few minutes later. That said, it seems that many other people do fine with some of the "ciggalikes." What worked for me was visiting a vape shop, trying different flavors (something that is often limited by "brand" e-cigs) and ultimately walking out with a pair of egos. Yeah, it cost me $80 for the equipment and 3 bottles of liquid, but that gave me a chance to really see how effective it would be. Money well spent, in my opinion. However, your mileage may vary.

As I said initially, it all depends on why you're doing it and what works for you.

I too years ago tried the cig-a-likes, a think the brand was Blu. It lasted about a week or two, but I was burning through the little refill carts, so ended up going back to burners. My (then wife) and I decided to drive 40 miles to a Vape Shop for the first time, and I was hooked. They let us sit around for over an hour and try different flavors, answered our questions, and eventually we left with two eGo starter kits, and I have never looked back. As far as I know, after I left my wife she was too lazy or careless to keep up with the vaping, and ending up going back to smokes as of a few months ago. I figure if I was to quit vaping, I would probably go right back to the cigs. There's just something about the hand to mouth action, along with the feel of smoke/vapor leaving my lungs that I cannot let go of! Either way, do some research on vaping, see if anything catches your eye, and do whatever it takes to try and stay away from those damned carcinogen filled burners!

ego is a style; fairly simple. the iTaste Twist 1100mAH or Vision Spinner 1300mAH are the primary name brand ones. Then you will need a tank of some sort to hold the juice and a charging cable. Then juice.

They can be had on-line for much cheaper than a Brick & Mortar shop. There are many recommendations on the sub-forums. There is a LOT of references on here and on YouTube.

Stick with an eGo style. Very good for the money.

Just make sure and send the free bee back before your CC is charged $100 after the 15 day free trail period is up. No such thing as a free ride in vapeland. Would be ok if the product was any good, but the free trial products usually are crap.

I was getting ready to say something similar. Your post was easier to quote.

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I started out of the cigalikes but quickly moved on to something with a better battery life. There are so many things out there and improvements being made to vaping. It can get rather confusing sometimes but atleast I have a place to go to get answers, help and support. ECF people are wonderful and so helpful. I have enjoyed the whole vaping journey and am at a pretty happy place. I have several which is a good idea to have backups for everything. What I probably enjoy the most is my mvp2. Great battery life and it looks good and works well with everything I have put on it. Good luck to you at finding all the right stuff to keep you vaping and happy. :)

First, congrats on quitting tobacco! I got my start with a Green Smoke starter kit. Depending on how much you vape, those Cartomizers can become expensive. If it stops the cravings, and you can reduce the vaping, the kit you bought will be worth it.

If not, consider a G6 starter kit from Halo. It's a good value at $44.95, USA made and located in NJ. The Cartomizers are refillable, and their ejuice flavors are great. Sample bottles are $5.99.

Thank you for all the input! I actually went ahead and bought the starter kit from ZemoCigs. I figured it I liked the freebie enough, I might as well take the plunge. I will let everyone know if I choose to stick with this brand. So far so good - AND STILL NO MORE TRADITIONAL CIGGIES!!!! Woot Woot.

The bottom line is: if it works for you then it's a good setup. Doesn't matter what anyone else says.

I too started out with a cigalike blu to be exact, but I smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years and I couldn't get nearly enough vapor out of them to satisfy me. I literally puffed until my throat was sore trying to get a drag out of them. And I never would get a throat hit. My batteries only lasted a short while and the refill cartridges were very expensive. All in all I was completely in satisfied. And very unhappy. Then I got my vaporizer! It was like night and day! I was able to get lots of vapor, I was able to get that throat hit, and my battery lasts into two days with very heavy vaping! I was completely comfortable and didn't have withdraws because I kept my nicotine up to a 24. It costed much less for the juice than those cartridges. I've been able now to be tobacco free for 8 days! For a 2 pack a day for 25 years smoker that's nothing short of a miricle! Congrats on quitting and keep in mind there are other options for you if those are not working or your uncomfortable. For me the vaporizer was the only way to go! It was a God send. But different people have different needs. Sounds like you were not a heavy smoker to begin with so hopefully you will do just fine with your kit. Just keep in mind if it's not working well for you you can always keep your options open and try a vaporizer. There are hundreds of juice flavors you can try if you get tired of just one flavor. I wish you the best and wanted to say again, congratulations on quitting!
