OK...so I have been vaping for about 3 weeks plus and thought I'd post a few thoughts looking for some feedback.
Here goes...
My story is probably typical in that I got suckered by a mall kiosk a couple of months back for my first e-cig - a Smoke 51. It was kind of cool initially, lots of vapor but the carts I got were "low" coffee. I was not getting the nic hit I needed and went back to analogs since I couldn't get higher nic carts (and they were expensive).
After trolling through this forum and watching tons of video reviews (thanks ratindahat!) I got a 901 kit, some 18 mg juice and come carts. What a difference! The nic hit was perfect, although the Smoke 51 still produced a ton more vapor. But, given the 901's ease of use and my (initially scary) attempts at dripping, I was off analogs and vaping away.
But problems arose - I was running out of carts and the small amount of juice I had and nobody seemed to have any. Getting worried, I did something I maybe should not have - went out and got an NJoy Pro. I figured since I could get carts at the local truck stop in an emergency. The NJoy was OK (especially dripping). I like that I have it for emergencies but I still preferred the vapor and throat hit from the 901.
Which brings me to what may be the controversial portion of this post - I then got some more juice (Johnson's creek sampler and a couple of bottles of Janty juice) and an M401. Everybody on the forums seemed to be raving about the 401. So I got one last week (from dietsmokes.com) and, after using it almost exclusively for a week, I have to say I don't see the big deal here over the 901.
First off, the 401 carts are hard to top off (not to mention I can't find anybody who's got blanks for sale). Moreover, I get a better vape from the 901 on almost all accounts - more vapor, more throat hit and better taste. I am thinking this is because the 401 atomizer seems to run hotter than the 901 (I am sure external vs. internal vaporizer has something to do with it and I am not sure, but suspect, that the car is close to the wick with the 401, letting the cart get hotter and "burning" the vapor more, thus killing some of the taste).
For me, the benefits of the 401 only seem to come down to the longer battery. Yes, the 401 vapes more of the cart than the 901 does (I hate that no matter what, I can never get the last 1/3 of a 901 cart to vape without turning it around) and the battery life seems longer and the draw is much easier. But, those benefits are out weighed by the vapor produced, the throat hit and the taste superiority of the 901.
Perhaps I am doing something wrong or got a bad 401 (although I bought 2 extra atomizers for it), but, for me a 901 kit with some juice and a usb charger is the best rig out there right now.
Thoughts?
