Pretty much. Other shops that do the same work are running further behind than me so I'm still looking ok.
Well it always helps when you can point out the fact that while you do have a long lead time at the moment they are always welcome to take it to shop x and wait longer
How I know that is I've had customers tell me that other shops are 20-30 days back logged when they call me to ask lead time.
It is a lot. My normal turn time if I have to order parts is less than a week but its 1.5-2 right now.
It is really wearing on me at work. I don't like making people wait like that but I don't have any help.
I feel for you. It blows that they can't get you somebody to help get you caught up
There's no one at my work that I would trust to do the work right that I gave them. It seems most are there to do as little as possible and still collect a check.
Very much so. I attribute it to weak management. If I was in charge about half of them would be gone.
I agree. Smart move would be to cut the dead weight which frees up the ability to give the ones that are actually doing the work more money which in turn makes them happier plus attracts more talented people wanting jobs
Exactly. There are a lot of skilled people out there that would love to have those jobs.
Yes I'm sure there is. Plus once your lead time goes way down then gain more customers
It will go down when they get smart. In the meantime all you can do is give your best shot
I know it's probably kind of odd but Monday is usually my best day of the week at work. I'm rested from the weekend and seem to have the fewest phone calls so I tend to get more done.
