Got a question for anyone using these with temperature control and Ni200...

I keep getting this message popping up telling me "DON'T ABUSE PROTECTS!!!" I have no idea what this means, and changing some of the options doesn't fix it. Anyone know what this means?

I've seen this message too. I think it appears when, after a warning message appears, you press the fire button again too soon. It's like a second warning: stop pressing the fire button!

I have a question too. I made a titanium coil on a kayfun 3.2. On the istick 40 it reads 0.77 ohm. When I put it on the Koopor, it starts reading very high, over 2 ohm. After time that reading drops, whether I loosen the kayfun first or not, but doesn't reach the 0.77 reading. Maybe I have inadvertently changed the standard TCR value for titanium on the Koopor, I don't know. Can somebody tell me what that standard value is on the Koopor?

Thank you Gallant. My TCR setting was correct. As for the initial resistance: the Koopor, for some reason, allows only a very small change range around the initial resistance. Can't get it below 1.6 or something.

But I suddenly remembered a review by Phil Busardo. It was not about the Koopor 200, but about some other temperature controlled mod. He tried building a TC capable coil on a Kayfun, but couldn't get a constant reading, the ohmage was all over the place. Probably something to do with the Kayfun, he said. I think I have the same problem. Maybe the Kayfun simply isn't a good base for a temperature controllable coil. Kudos to the iStick 40 though, for reading a constant ohmage.

Maybe your coil is shorting out. All you can do with a Kayfun is make sure that the one side of the post is not touching the other side of the post until the very end of the wire, all you can do to make sure that the connection is good. However in my case, on a Goblin Mini, the vape is doing kinda badly because I'm rocking dual 16.5 wrap Ni200 30 gauge build. I would expect Titanium to work lots better, the reading you get is definitely incorrect, that would be like 30+ wraps of Titanium grade 1 30 gauge.

So a little update on that "DON'T ABUSE PROTECTS!" message, I made the inner diameter of the coil bigger, same dual coil 16.5 wraps Ni200 30 gauge and haven't gotten the message again. My guess is the ohms was bordering too low since it was right at .10 ohms. I will be checking it out tomorrow to see if there's any more problems, but so far so good. Whenever I get some cash flow I'm gonna try to use Titanium instead because I'm guessing the resistance on Ni200 is very low and causing me to need to make super big coils.

EDIT: Last night I had it occur one more time, after vaping on it for about 3 times in a row and then the coil cooling down. Seems when the coil goes below the temperature that the device thinks it will be at, the device thinks you're "abusing" the protects and that there is an atomizer short.

No, you can't set the watts in temp mode. But that holds true for ANY tc device. To reach a certain temperature and keep it stable there, you need to constantly change the wattage (or voltage). At least, that's how I understand it.
I have my sigelei 75 that you can set the wattage from 5 to 75 in temp mode.

You can set the wattage on pretty much every temp control device. Setting the wattage allows you to determine how long it takes to get up to temp if it all. If you wattage isn't set high enough you may never reach your set temp. How high you set it would be determined by the build and desired temp. Thats why you have things like preheat punch. Once it hits that temp then the mod self regulates. Not sure how mods without it determine wattage. I would guess based on base resistance and desired temp but that's not really a good way to do it. A .5 coil of 28g would require less power to get up to temp on the same amount of time as a .5 of 24g.

I bought the Koopor Plus 200W yesterday and I've vaped it from about 3pm yesterday until midnight. It 10am the next morning and I still show about 3/4 battery after 11 hours of vaping. Cool!

I started winding my own Kayfun coils a couple of years ago after being disgusted with all the pre-made coils for the Nautilus and other top of the line commercial coil tanks dying the first day. Most went open and I'm thinking that was solder melt on the hybrid wires.

Now, I'm seeing tanks designed for TC pre-made coils and people are saying that after a week the coil and the cotton wick are absolutely pristine ... no sign of gumming or burning. I'd be interested in trying premade coils if TC performs that well.

Anyone tried a TC designed tank with factory coils that performs without having to use a new coil every day?
