Very Very true with the options,,,,there is more out there. wasnt sure if one were better. my friend has kr808,,,the one i gave up on, and wasnt sure if it were the cartos that made it harder to vape from or not. plus i had major resentment toward those batteries,,,,,just crazy experience,,,,anyway.
Most people do like the manual,,,,,,i am the oddity lol. ;)
thanks for telling me what you thought about this,,,i really appreciate it!

For the small battery kits I'd recommend going with KR-808D-1 batteries. A little hotter batteries under load (3.7v) that should last a little longer before going to the charger. They will take 901 atties if you want to pack carts or drip, and decent prefilled or blank cartos abound for these things. Plus, you can still get an adapter and run 510 stuff on it.

For larger eGo/Riva/PigCig type stuff...I don't think the thread type matters much. Find a good deal from a reputable vendor and get some adapters to try whatever you want on them.

For the most part, either battery is going to average between 3.4v and 3.7v fully charged (some may drop as low as 3.2 just before they need to be recharged). Some of the fat batteries like PigCig for KR808 and some 510 models (Riva SE?) might promise to hold 3.7v under load...but they also will be a little bit more expensive. Search and weigh if it's worth it to you to pay extra for that claim.

Fat Battery or Minis?
Well...the eGo type batteries are a little thicker and heavier...but a good 1000ma XL will last many people all day or more. No more pocket full of little batteries or PCC that charges. One of these and a pocket full of your favorite cartos........easy peasy.

For most folks...the 3.4v average on a 510 eGo battery is fine...if you want more heat, get lower resistance cartos or atties.

A really good value I think are the eGo/Riva USB Pass-through batteries. They have the charger built in and you can vape on them while they're hooked up, or pull them off the USB cord for a nice long lasting on the go battery. I've seen 700ma ones for as little as 20 bucks...even less if you find some coupons and stuff!

I switched from KR808D-1 regular and mini batteries to the eGo style for most of my vaping. Around the house, in the car, out the pub, etc....

I still keep some of the short KR808D-1 auto batteries around for things like yard work, fishing, golf, as I can hang them from my mouth and have my hands free for other things, and even take a drag without having to mess with the button. My favorite carto for these are the short metal CE2 type...if I can get in KR808 great, if not I just use the 510s with adapter.

Don't know if they are genuine but the kr808 batts I have last long and don't have the irritating 5 sec timer switch-off like you get with other autos. They're also resistant to going wonky if you use different chargers or use them with LRs (though I don't recommend that).

I do use them with 901 atties (after blocking the batt-holes) because of the smoother vape and better taste. The draw-resistance of the 901 can be controlled by partially taping over the atty-hole. The overall experience is far superior than the 501.

The 501 I occasionaly toy with a big batt mod. Loads of vapour, yes, but much harsher and less taste. After a day with the 501+LR, my tongue is so sore it needs a day of rest.

I haven't used 510 batteries in quite a while so I can't really compare... that said, I really prefer KR808 batteries, in both size and performance. You can get them in mini, regular, and XL length to suit your size preference. A mini paired with an XL Fluxomizer is roughly the same size as a regular battery/standard cartomizer, which I'm used to. At the other end, an XL battery with an XL Fluxomizer and drip-tip looks rather like those extra-long cigarette holders the ladies would use in old movies

I normally use manual batteries and passthrus, but lately I've been using an auto passthru; to my surprise, it works really well. So well, in fact, that at least some of the next batteries I buy may be autos. Whether you go for manual or auto, make sure they are the longer cutoff; a 5-sec cutoff just doesn't "cut" it.

The only real advantage I'm aware of with 510 batteries is the availability of multi-port chargers. Another vendor has promised one for 808s for over a year, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I also recently acquired an Ego-T, and while the tank system doesn't quite do it for me, I do like the longevity of the battery.

excellent post...we also have some good high quality 808's coming in that are rated at 350mah and only 107mm, manual though, we'll see about getting more auto's in if everyone would like to see more autos...

I have a GLV2 mod and 2 box mods (510) and i have ego passthru and joy510 ecig/stick whatchamacalit :)
I had the older verseio ego, and well, i have retired them....i use all my pv's,,,,,but, with my former 3 packs a day habit that lasted over 30 yrs....i really really like and go to my stick/mini style ecig auto because of the familiarity of the stick style auto feeling like a cig
but I think i will do an adapter the vortex looks really awsome and it looks to be 808, so i will use an adaptor
can you use an adapter on a stick style? and can u use the flux on the new i510 just stocked?

I was always a 510 man since I started. I stopped using small batteries shortly after because of poor performance and went onto mods like jokers and provari. Just recently I got a auto 808D with a pcc for someone that wanted to kick chewing tobacco. I was so impressed with it I got two more for myself and anyone else that wants to try it. It uses a mechanical switch which only fires when sucked one direction and wont go off with vibration. I recommend the 808D now. Never would have thought I would see much difference but I like it way more than my 510 batts.

I to bought an overpriced KR808D-1 as one of my first PV's. It was in auto and I liked it.

After finding the ECF and learning more about all things e-Cigs, I moved to a 510 auto. When the eGo hit the scene, I went down that road for the longer battery life. eGo Auto batteries were very hard to find at that time but I found one site, Janty Canada who carried them.

But then I had a problem with one of my auto batteries and Shawn with Janty Canada was very nice to not only replace my defective auto battery but to send me a manual one. I didn't like it. Didn't like it at all. So it went in the drawer and sat.

But as time past, and my auto batteries slowly died as all batteries do. When one abruptly failed it left me in a bad way. Short on cash and low on batteries. But then I remembered the Manual battery. So I started using it.

It took about a week but soon the button was as natural as just hitting on a auto. Funny, I would picture in my mind a spray can of paint. Push down the button and the paint comes out. Push down the button and the vape comes out.

The thing that became nice with the manual was that I could let off the button Before I was done hitting to adjust the amount of vapor. I could also hold the button down for a second or so Before I start to vape so no "primer " hit was needed like with an auto. I soon was sold on manual batteries.

Then the E2's hit. Wow, when an E2 works it was much better than a filler carto. Much Better. But to maintain an E2, you need to dry burn them occasionally. Hence now I had to have at least one manual battery. I was glad I did.

I still pull my remaining auto battery and use it now and again. It's cool and I think I will always like the way it works and feels. But manual batteries have so much going for them. Don't think I would another auto unless it was a mini or super mini. I have a Blu also but that is another story for another time.

As to the KR808D-1 vs 510

People say that the KR808 gives a better hit because the voltage is supposed to be a true 3.7. I dunno. Maybe it does or maybe it doesn't. To me they are about the same.

What I don't like is the threads on connector from the battery to the carto. Seems like the carto is only being held on by a single turn. I never liked it and was scared of stripping the threads if I put the PV in my pocket or if something pushed on it hard. Could be just my imagination but I've sat on my eGo before with no ill effect.

The other thing is 510 threads have a wider variety of things that you can put on the battery.

So if I was asked by someone I would recommend a 510 Manual PV setup. The button may seem funk for a couple of days to an auto user but that, like all things will pass.

Hope some of this long and rambling post helps and let us know hen you get whatever you get and how you like it.

Great,,,thanks all for responding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great info...I think i will just do some sort of mix. have my main as 510, I do have autos coming my way, and i do have manuals of corse cause of my mods. Right now, I am at a point to where i am stuck with manual,,,,I used a LR on my stick/mini ecig and just learned that you cant do that uuuuuggggggg and my autos got cashed out, now i am doing a little more reading into a product lolool.
I think its cool though that there are actual options on these things called ecigs and sooo much out there now. Thats a good thing :)
I am vaping the heck out of my disposables from gotvapes, they are the auto kind, and that is very very cool thing so i dont have to go total cold turkey on auto lolol, i love them,,,so, I will just have to get more, looking forward to menthol being back in stock, but strawberry is really freaken good too :)
Again, thanks for all the info from everyone, it has helped very much

Hey Amy!

Wow, thanks! I've learned everything I've been trying to compare for a week now! Very thorough---the XL batteries I've been getting are sometimes TOO heavy & I'll lose my e-cig when it flips backwards out of my "ash tray" while driving, seriously! PLUS, if i buy a BLACK one, I can never FIND them, cuz they blend into furniture, carpeting, etc.

:)
