KR808D vs. eGo or both...

Go with a manual. The batteries on those are sealed so you can drip with them and if you fill a cart too much, the juice won't seep into the battery and ruin it. Manuals will also give you better control over your vaping experience.

You can also check out LibertyFlights to do some price checking. They have a 6 month warranty on the eGo batteries and they also have different colors (if you're into that sort of thing . )

I would just like to say I'm new to this forum but not so new to ecigs. I tried the KR808D a year ago for 4 months(along with analogs) but lost my job and the stress just pushed me back to the dreaded analogs! I tried again a few months ago with the KR808D and just couldn't get back into it, it just wasn't doing it for me. I'd smoke a cigarette right after vaping! I found this forum because I really wanted this to work and started reading. I decided on the Riva 510 kit from Liberty Flights because it was $30 and I wouldn't be wasting so much money if it didn't work. I got my kit last Thursday and have been analog free since Friday!! I smoked one cigarette on Friday and it tasted like I had licked an ashtray! So no more and I haven't ever been more than a few hours without a cigarette in 16 years!

Nothing against the KR808D at all! It is great to start off with I think but for me I was tired of filling cartomizers. I am dripping with my new Riva 510 and it is absolutely awesome!! The taste, vapor and throat hit are out of this world. I see now that ease of use, vapor and the battery life are what really has made this work for me this time. I got the titanium Riva 510 and it is a sharp looking little thing. Love the feel of it in my hand. It is manual and I find that I like the control of that better than the automatic KR808D batts that I had before. Liberty Flights was awesome and the price could not be beat. I absolutely love this thing!

+1 on Liberty flights and the Riva. Excellent system and customer service! I started with the kr808d1 and now have a riva 901, and ego510 and I use them all, but still use the 808s most with an atty and drip tip.

My advice would have been either the Riva 510 or 901. (If you were set on the Kr808d, then the 901). I just finalized my system after two months of trial and error: Riva 520 and Joye 510 manual. I started with the Greencig g300, Kr808d and cartomizers. I decided to go with atty's and carts because the carts are way easier to refill, and I find atty's to have way more consistent hits than carto's (when cartomizers are hitting, they are great. But they were so inconsistent from hit to hit.)

What I really love about the Riva (or eGo) and Joye 510 combo is the convenience. The Riva and about four filled carts (plug mod carts) is all I really need for the day. But you have to remember that in vaping, you always need backups just in case. So, I also always have my fully assembled and charged Joye 510 with me as well. Because the parts are interchangeable, they act as backups to each other: I've always got two batteries, two atty's and two carts with me (I also have a little case that holds about 9 extra carts). An added bonus is that the Joye 510 as a backup is nice and small and is great for those situations where you want something that looks like an analog.

I don't think you will regret the eGo no matter what. The only thing that can disappoint you about it would be the form factor: It doesn't look or feel like an analog cigarette. To a noob, that might be something they don't like. But even if that turns out to be the case, its performance will be so good that it will easily keep you satisfied until you can find the form factor that fits you. And even if later you do find something you like better, I'll bet the Riva stays in your active arsenal-- unlike other possible first choices that end up in a drawer.

That's why I have joined so many others on this forum who always advocate the eGo/Riva as a first ecig: it's performance won't fail you, even if you find you don't like the form factor.

(Be careful of that mega atty: I can't handle them, I get dizzy after three hits of my 24mg juice. I'm gonna stick with the regular 510 atty!)

Thanks for your detailed response. I'm expecting my kit in the mail today and I'm very excited! I'm not worried about the form of the ego. I don't want an eCig that looks like a regular cig. Seems some like attys and carts, some like cartos, and some like to drip. I have attys and carts and a drip tip coming my way so I'll have to wait until next order at least to try cartos.

I agree, one reason I chose the eGo (besides the battery) was the fact that the 510 is so common and parts etc. would be readily available. It also came highly recommended!

I ordered 18mg juice so I hope it doesn't make me dizzy with the mega atty. I suppose I could just hit it softer or slower or well i guess just less.

.. but after a couple puffs it goes away.

I should get my 510 atty in the mail today then I can put my 510 carts to use and see if the throat it is a little mellower... either way im satisfied

Thanks!. For reference, how many analogs did you smoke a day? 30 mg seems a bit strong, but I'm no veteran.

When you say "brash" is that like irritating / painful or more like smoke than vapor?

I also have an ego kit with 510 ttys and carts on the way so I can see which I like better for diffrerent applications.

Sorry for the confusion. I should have been more clear on what I carry. I just carry a fully assembled Riva and a fully assembled Joye 510. They act as backups to each other (that's what I meant by haveing two of everything.) If the atty on my Riva dies during the day, I can just take the one off the Joye and put it on the Riva. If my Riva batt dies, I have the Joye (I'll of course be on a three puffs every two hours with the Joye).

If for some reason both batteries or both atty's die, then it's the 2-month-old pack of smokes in my glove compartment.

Because I don't drip, I carry a small (2in. x 2in.) "flash memory card" case with extra filled carts in it (the carts, of course, work on either the Riva or Joye).

In all, the case, Riva and Joye would all easily fit in the space of a pack of smokes.

About a pack but I also dip tobacco... kinda not to often now though. By brash I mean a strong throat it. Kinda like a hot feeling I guess is a good way to describe it. Kinda like actual smoke

Got my 510 atty in today and im using it without a cone and it is considerably smoother as far as throat it is concerned. Its kind of a nice relaxing vape. Im vaping 40/60 24mg concord grape juice from FSUSA and its pretty enjoyable.

Thanks for the info. I have a "older eGo kit coming in the mail with 510 attys. But, so far I'm liking the mega! The prefilled carts that came with the kit are not the best tasting. But, good out of the box performance.
