Kylin V2 flavorless?

Guys, I just started in the world of vape. I use a Luxe 2 with the tank that comes in it equipped with the GT coil head. I was satisfied with the taste, but studying hard I decided to go for an RTA tank. I researched one that fit what I was looking for and arrived at Kylin V2.

My problem is not the leak that they talk about so much, but the fact that it gives me a lot less flavor than the GT coils I used.

I made the wick with dual coil. And I already did 3 rewick, one putting less cotton in the lower tank, another putting more and nothing. I am frustrated because my expectation was that the flavor would be more present in an RTA than in a tank with a coil head. Can anyone help?

(I'm brasilian using Google translator, sorry)

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Too much air can mean less flavor or no flavor. If you don't want to decrease the airflow to get more flavor, you may need more coil mass.

Too much heat to vaporize certain liquids can also kill the flavor. This can also be related to your coil.

Without pictures and coil specifications, hard to say.

The video I posted mentioned closing the airflow half way for more flavor. Also, like UJ mentioned, too much heat (watts) can really change flavor (or even kill it) Specifically, some juices (like fruits with creamy and/or bakery flavors) at lower power the fruits shine but with too much power, it's gone and all that is left is dull creamy and/or bakery. I don't know what coil you are using but "fancy" coils can backfire (high thermal mass... slow to heat up and slow to cool down) Best to give them a break between vapes (no "chain vaping") Forgot to ask... single or dual coil? Or... maybe it's not wicking enough (does it produce thick rich vapor?)

I'd check you have your coil legs cut to the recommended length. Most reviews say 5mm is the right length.

And watch a few videos on the RTA to see if you are doing anything differently:

Thanks for the quick responses! I'm sending the photos of the last wick I tried.

    I will watch these videos.

I tried with more cotton / less cotton. I tried with open and closed airflow. I tried it from 40w to 100w ... It has flavor, but it doesn't come close to the coilhead GT. I think I'm making a mistake when making the wick.

Your Coil Placement and Wicking all look pretty Normal. Don't see any glaring problems there.

When Trying to Diagnose something like this, knowing what the RTA Build Ohms are and what Wattage you use with it would be a Huge Help. Could it be that you're just Not Using enough Wattage to drive those Coils?

Also, have you Tried doing a build with just Simple Single Wire Coils?

Starting out vaping on the current generation of mesh coils like the GT could make things difficult. Those big mesh drop ins have intense flavour that you may never match with a (non mesh) rta.
Is it possible your expectations are too high?
Your build and wick certainly looks good and you sound like you've tried a range of power settings

Not yet. I want to make my coils soon.

The coils could stand being lowered a little more for definite, that should make an improvement.

Other than that @Lincoln Barela, you could try the wicking a bit tighter and looser through the coils. As that's another thing that can impact flavour.

You could even try Rayon for wicking?

I'll try it. Thanks! So we don't have Rayon here in brazil.

Perhaps my expectations are too high. But I've always heard from old vapers that an RTA tank will ALWAYS deliver more flavor than any coil head.

That used to be the case for a long time but like I said these new big mesh drop in coils are flavour machines. Way too intense for me

For Older Coil Heads, I would say that General Rule is more true Then than Now.

Another thing to Consider... RTA's are designed for either Clouds, or for Flavor, or a Balance of the Clouds/Flavor. I Haven't used the Kylin v2. But just looking at it makes me think that it was designed more for Cloud Production than for Flavor.

That's Not to Say that the Flavor Can't be Improved. It's just you might have to work a Tad Harder to do so.

BTW - Have you tried using the 510 Drip Tip adapter and a slightly More Restrictive Drip Tip? That can Many Times help give things a Flavor Boost.

I am aware that I am starting in the world of building. Over time, I study more and get the hang of it.

Thank you very much for your attention guys. We don't have a good forum in Portuguese yet.

I just made a type of wick that seems to have increased the flavor a lot. I'll leave it here in case anyone wants to try it.

It consists of dividing the cotton in half after going through the coil. The bottom half you insert a hole and the top half you make a V cut. So, there is a larger amount of cotton on top. Perhaps it is psychological but apparently the flavor has increased!

This image is from a video in which the guy performed the technique on a single coil intake. I did it in dual coil.

I'm glad you are seeing progress. That technique will mean you should have a more saturated coil - which will be improving flavour.

Also check you aren't wicking it too tightly through the coil. It's a fine art between too tight and muted flavour or too loose and a leaky RTA

Regarding your coils height and position, here's some pics from ECF reviewers of this RTA:
