Glennn made a good point about switching, Smell.

So now I'd like to ask about Skin.

I am in my forties been smoking just under a pack a day since I've been sixteen. I know those tiny lines around my eyes and mouth were helped along by cig smoking along with the pores looking a bit larger and the frown lines that are starting to really set in. Sure some of it is just my age and genes but I know my habit sure didn't help with the aging process.

What I'd like to know is if any of you have noticed marked improvement in your skin over time with the analog to pv switch?

Haven't had breakouts myself - have had drier skin but exfoliation + mositurizer works wonders for that.
The very fact of NOT smoking means my skin is all over pinker - no more smoker's gray skin tone for me!- and although dry appears 'smoother looking'. I am fairly lucky though - no crows feet and very few lines except forehead and nasal labial.
Most surprising effect so far: dark circles under eyes diminished! Mine are partly genentic but less so than i thought, as they are now less. :)

Im 36 with just a few wrinkles even after smoking for 21 years probably because of my very oily skin and olive complexion/heritage. I am now dealing with acne that I havent had since being a teen and it really sucks even though my pores seem to be smaller. The circles under my eyes are lighter and the whites of my eyes are no longer yellow!

In my opinion, vaping will not help with mouth or so called "smoker" wrinkles as we are still pursing our lips around the pv.

It's too soon for me to evaluate wrinkle improvement, but I can definitely say that the "smoker's pallor" is gone! I do have healthier looking skin overall.

I broke-out too :( I noticed it happening a day or so ago. I was wondering when I'd start breaking out because the last time I quit smoking the same thing happened.

It's not a horrid break-out, but unpleasant.

Along with the skin improvements though is something else - I'm an avid tooth whitener. I don't even like to think about how much I have spent on "professional in office" tooth whitening. It works amazingly, but never lasted because I smoked and ruined it. I've always hated what smoking did to my teeth.

I've been wearing my bleaching trays to bed at night and my teeth are getting whiter staying that way now :D

So - healthier looking skin and whiter teeth - those are two huge benefits for me and things I think about whenever I have a "random cig craving".

In the past I was able to gain about 10lbs when I quit. I was hoping I would get the "quit smoking weight gain" because I really do need to gain some weight. I've ended up losing a few pounds since I quit smoking and started vaping

Is it the nicotine that stops the weight gain?

Many say that nicotine is an appetite suppressant, though I don't *think* that's been conclusively proven yet. Regardless, at least part of the reason people gain weight when they quit is an effort to continue that hand-to-mouth action that we get from smoking and vaping, and just using food as a distraction from not smoking.

I just read that they suspect that nicotine actually does inhibit the appetite but that most of the weight gained from quitting smokes is from nervous eating. I quit smoking for 2 years once (hypnotism) and gained 20 pounds despite my best efforts to avoid it.

The big appeal of vaping, for me, was the ability to quit smoking, avoid the weight gain and save my jaws the strain from chewing a years supply of gum in 3 months time. (One can only have just so much minty fresh breath and then it gets really old.)

As another of those 'oddballs' that has more problems gaining then losing, I've noticed I'd rather vape a really delicious flavor then get up and eat. Especially with the sweeter ones, I feel like I've just BEEN eating.

Also, I feel a bit more like being active. Which doesn't help. Oh well. Just try to remember to eat - and add some more fatty foods to the diet. (If you can find them among all the low-fat and no-fat stuff. )

See, I was thinking that you and Remie might be pretty cool, but now I'm not sure I want to be friends with y'all. ;-)

Well, unless you're both in your twenties and don't have kids yet. I could forgive y'all then.

i'm in my upper 50's and was hoping for skin improvement and for awhile i saw smoother skin, but lately, probably from winter heat, my skin has been looking really nasty. lines appearing that weren't even there before. Been off analogs and vaping for 8 months.

i've come to the conclusion that it's dehydration. my mouth is always dry, especially at night. i can wake up and my mouth is lock jawed open and so dry i can't close it :-x

so if you're vaping drink LOTS of water and those wrinkles should start seeing improvement

I'm an antique so it's all hopeless anyway, but with my dry skin I'm not looking for a lot of wrinkle relief from stuff that sucks up epidermal moisture. And I think that the wretched little wrinkles around the mouth are caused by spending half of ones life kissing a nicotine delivery system, cig or vape. Also, the nicotine is still there, skinnying up the blood vessels. I'm such a wet blanket realist, sigh.
These things are a blessed miracle and a joy forever, but perhaps not a cure for everything? Will keep you posted though. I'm sure drinking more water than I ever have, that must be good for something. And I feel wonderful.

Hello! I just got my first e-cig last Thursday, and immediately broke out pretty badly. I'm almost positive it's because I'm inadvertently touching my face a lot more while I'm vaping. Since it's a new thing I think I'm vaping more often than I smoked, and probably vaping more than I will be once the novelty of having a new toy has worn off.

I've already noticed that I get MUCH thirstier while vaping than I do while smoking. On the bright side, I can drink water while I vape. Water tastes bad to me while I'm smoking.

(Jo, I love ya'll's drawl, it's very becomin' .)

Why, thank ye, ma'am. ;-) Actually, it's not often that a northerner says such a thing, as I well know living here in IL.

As far as moisturizing goes, I think the best think that one can do for one's face is get a good quality facial oil. Spritz the face with water and apply a light layer of oil and you get all the good stuff with none of the chemical nastiness that's in most moisturizers. (I know, it's just about absurd for a smoker to be as neurotic as I am about avoiding chemicals.)

My skin looks great now, almost 5 months in. The first month into the second I had some breakouts...wondered if it was from touching my face. I still touch my face the same and into the second month all cleared. Hormonal changes? Toxins leaving? Who knows, my lips are pink again and I have a more youthful glow. People noticed.

DO drink alot of fluids. I saw dehydration lines along with the breakouts at first and notice it again in my face if I'm not getting enough water, lips too...lots of water!

That's a big part of it! Exactly! I'd rather vape a delicious flavor than eat too, and I do feel much more energetic. And I'm glad I'm not the only oddball :)

Also, after a good "vaping session" the last thing I feel like doing is eating. I never had a huge appetite, I'm the pickiest eater ever (it drives people crazy) - and now I'm just an energetic wacko

 no-fat, low-fat, organic, no meat... arrgh I suppose it's time to start craving BLT sammiches and ice cream  :)

At least I have pink cheeks again - that grayish dull smoker's skin wasn't a terrific look :|

I just got my e-cig this past Friday. I haven't quit my analogs, but I have cut down on at least 2/3rds of them. I am happy with my progress so far. I have spent alot of time reading posts here, all very helpful.

My plan to ward off some of these unpleasant side effects and get to the good effects are: Drinking lots of water, exercising more, giving more attention to my skin care routine, and taking vitamin C :)

Hoping I will see some improvement in my skin, after years of smoking, it needs help.
