I have been on a James Rollins kick lately
Good techo thrillers..lots of adventure and fluff for the brain!

I'm reading a wonderful Horror/Sci-Fi novel called The Passage by Justin Cronin. This is the first book of a trilogy.....Fantastic read! If you like Vampires(sort of)and End of the World Apocolypse books that span centuries....This is the book for you!!

Highly rated at Amazon.com
:)The Wiz!

Adding both to my reading list!

Wiz- I love Dystopic settings and trilogies! Thanks for the suggestions!

as for the Hunger Games it is classified as a young adult book but it isn’t. it reminded me of Enders Game somehow (which I also loved). My reading list has been pretty bare the last month I am pretty stoked to find some new reads!

Aw geez...I read anything I can get my hands on. Problem is I read too darn fast so I run through yard sales to pick them up 'cause of the cost. Even read an old bosses med books during lunch breaks. (had 2 hr. brks.) I'll go through 2-3 books a week. Shameful.

lol ...me too! my local librarians hate me!

Wow I didn't know this thread existed. In an effort to bring it back to life, can you all tell I enjoyed Eragon series so far?

Lord of the Rings in another favorite but it's a tough read, he is a very "wordy" author. My son has read all his books, I don't know how he can do it.

I'm also a King fan, it would be hard to pick a favorite, Dark Tower series is great, but I have this love/hate with the ending. It keeps me thinking. I like how some of his books will haunt you later on. Get a cold and your mind starts thinking is it "Captain Trip". Missery, and The Green Mile are both good stories, better than the movies. I read The Green Mile as a series also, I was stalking the local book store waiting for the next book to be released. If you read Cell you'll never really look at your phone the same way again, but the ending was rushed IMHO.

Thinner, and Desperation I also enjoyed. When I bought Desperation it came with The Regulators, I didn't think it was as good.

For anyone with kids my son love Lemony Snicket A Series of Unofrtunate Events, and Pendragon. He also has a few copies of Narnia so he must have loved those. (I should probably read them) I remember Garth Nix was another author he liked to go to for books.

My son is a huge book worm, he'd get in trouble when he was a small child for reading way past his bed time. I'd catch him at 5 and 6 yrs old under the covers with the flashlight. If you look at his room now you'll see a long dresser with the top just filled with books. His closet is filled with books, and he has a night stand next to his bed with both drawers filled with books, books and more books. The drawers are so heavy with books they are sagging and ready to break.

We have a loft area that someday I wanted to make a place to read with bookshelves for everyones books. (it would be nice to free up his room a little) Someday it'll get done, these are the times I wish my hubby was a handyman type so he could build me some built in bookshelves.

I am also guilty of coming out of the library with armloads of books but they love me there I also help circulation rates which I think I probably justify a nice chunk of the towns budget every year (small library). I also hit up flea markets, yard sales etc for books which I then turn around and donate to the library after I have read them. I also have a kindle that I got for Christmas which I love I can own tons of books and they take up no space it is a nice thing.

I am currently reading the song of ice and fire series by George RR Martin that includes The Game of Thrones which was recently turned into a HBO series.

Safira.....I love Stephen King also. I agree on the Tower series...love/hate feeling for the ending! Have you read Under the Dome, that book will really make you think.

MK....I didn't even know Dean Kontz did a Frankenstein series.....yay....more to read....LOL

Our library is doing a new thing here. They are setting up so you can download books to your pc, Kindle, I-phone...etc. Not sure of all the details yet, my boss has the information and she is going to bring it to us. It will be interesting to find out how it works.

No I haven't, I was reading past post's in this thread and starting thinking maybe I should check it out.

D/L from the library, that would be so nice. DS has to have so many books during the school year for English class. I can't really check them out of the library since they take a while to finish the books. Downloading is an idea I hadn't thought of before, I'll have to ask if the school will let him.

My all time favorite books (series) is Jean M. Auel. I started with Valley of the Horses and it was so good that I had to start from the beginning so I got Clan of the Cave Bears, then I read Valley of the Horses again and wanted more so I now have read all 5 books in the series. Now I want the last one but Amazon wants $15 for the kindle version. Ridiculous. The hardback is only about $2 more. Not fair! :(

Another of my favorite authors is Clive Cusslar. I've read almost all of his books and the same with Patrica Coldwell's books.

I also like Dean Kooze, Robin Cook, Iris Johanson (read almost all of hers), James Rollins, Michael Palmar, jez I could go on and on.

We had that in St. Clouds little library. It was called Internet cafe..you just needed your libraey card number and they let you download for the standard library time of two weeks. You can't copy it to your computer or CD..it's a loan!

That's probably what ours will do....makes sense.

Wow! You guys aren't going to believe what just happened. Somebody (a guy I think) has been reading our posts about the Eragon series and read that I wanted it but cost too much for Kindle so he offered to send me all 3 books in kindle format. I don't know how he did that but I received them and now have them on my kindle. He also said that he had a huge library and offered to send me anything I need. He mentioned a software program called Calibre so that is probably how he was able to do it. I'll be checking that out.

I'm flabbergasted about how generous and helpful people are here on ECF. This is the first forum I've ever joined and I am so glad I did.

If anybody else wants these 3 books I'll be happy to email them to you.
