I have been vaping now since 8/14 and about December went to 100% VG and 0% Nic. about a moth or so ago I started noticing some weird stuff going on with my voice, like I was going through puberty again (I'm 56 Years Old). I am also an avid singer and this is a big problem for me. I don't have a cold, no fever, no cough just this weird squeaky crap going on with my voice that sometimes sounds flemmy or crackely. I will admit that I probably don't drink as much water as I should but also thought is was PG or Nic that caused that problem. I know there have been other posts about laryngitis and vaping but they were usually all stemming from getting over a cold or too high of a Nic content. Any ideas? I would really like to start singing again....

Sorry to hear that! I do know that I have had this happen on occasion, not sure if it's vaping related or not. Mine started happening about a month ago after getting over a really bad flu, so I just tossed it up to that. Good news is it has gotten better with time. I find what helps me most is to drink ice cold sweet tea along with my vape. I find it keeps me hydrated as well as really bringing out the flavor in my e-liquid. You may want to try that or maybe warm herbal tea with a bit of honey. I try to drink plenty of water through the day, but vaping while drinking water has always muted the flavors for me. Not sure why.. I hope it gets better!

Hi johnbaum and welcome to ECF!

VG is also hydroscopic (sp?), meaning that it attracts moisture. It draws water from your mouth and throat, adding to the released vapor when you exhale. You may not feel it as much, though, because it also coats your tissues. Drinking while vaping is always a good idea.

Hope it helps and Happy Vaping!

Ain't nobody got time for that. (sorry, popular culture reference)

I used to vape 50/50 liquids and changed to mostly (or max VG) liquids and noticed some pretty drastic changes in my breathing and congestion in my lungs.

I am slowly changing my ratio back from max VG to include more PG. I found that switching to mostly VG liquid, I got a crackle in my voice and had to clear my throat often. Anything I coughed up was clear and I had no other effects, but it was something that I didn't like and wanted to change. I didn't get any irritation or soreness, but I suppose it's not out of the question.

I would recommend upping the ratio of PG slightly and see if you see any improvement. I am currently at around 15/85 PG/VG and have noticed an improvement, but I am still increasing it gradually.

Sure way to see if it is the vaping is to stop for a few days. Not necessarily a recommendation, but a sure fire way of discerning if it's the vaping that's causing it or an underlying health issue.

VG definitely gums up the works for me...

I stick to between 45PG/55VG and 60PG/40VG and it's better for my lungs and throat as far as congestion goes. Been leaning towards the 60/40 mix as of the past couple weeks and actually thinking about going up in PG content some more yet...

As always, your mileage may vary ;)
