Laser Engaving?

Can someone explain how this works? For example, does it go all the way around the PV from top to bottom, just around it (like a circle) or just from top to bottom in a single line? Multiple lines? Etc etc.

Are there any limits to the image files?

I basically want to know if I can do something like a spider web. Is it always white?

It's not white, it's the silver of the aluminum under the anodized color. The engraving etches the finish down to the raw material of the tube (I think).

Mike will need to answer this for you Caged, I wish I could give you a better idea.

Oh. So it probably won't work for silver then.....

We can only engrave on one side , the tube does not rotate when we engrave so it is in a LINE so to speak , we cannot engrave AROUND the tube.

we have to scale images to fit on the side, ALSO we need BMP or JPG images in black/white , no colors please.

Thanks. Will it work on the silver? Also, just to give me an idea, what size image will the machine accept (if I were to scale the image to the specifications of the machine). Would it go have way around? Quarter of the way? Just wondering how creative one can get.....

Here is Fazed's beautifully engraved IPro to give you an idea. The info I linked for you says your file size can be no larger than 500kb. The chrome tubes can't be engraved, the clear silver wouldn't have a contrast to the engraving.
