I totally understand Switched, it's a hard point to drive home and most people shrug it off, so it gets to a point when you just have to be blunt. From my recollection, the first LR atties I heard of hit the market a few months after the Janty eGo was developed and mods like the Silver Bullet were still new, and to this day the confusion about the batt chemistry and usage on an eGo persists. The original figure was stated as "Do not use these 1.5 ohm atomizers on anything less than 400 mah" but this figure was stated before eGo's had really made their mark as the new king of the castle so to speak as I am sure you now.

LR's have always been meant to be used on 3.7 volt Big Battery Mods and even at that the batts still suffered, until IMR's became the new standard for LR vaping a considerable amount of time after that.

I have had multiple eGo batteries die on me because of my LR usage on them, since I started using LR as soon as Jack stocked them. At least 5 eGo batteries to 1 finally dead atty... It was no surprise to me that it was the atties causeing their untimely death.
Pretty darn close Blane.

The first LRs to hit the scene were at the original Vapefest in May of 2010 and were an option with the Phidius Woodimus and an 18650 IMR battery. They metered at 1.61Ohm (Fibonacci's sequence) and were toted to emulate 5V vaping. As we know very few 5V devices were available at the time, with the exception of modders.

The original seller of the LRs (only available source) was NHaler which stated on his site these atties require a high drain battery of 420mAh or better. Many folks overlooked the "high drain" part and ran with the 420mAh, hence todays problem.

This oversight from the vaping community was not deliberate, but acting on lack of knowledge because back in the day, IMRs were basically unheard of and definitely not readily available. Amazing how quick this industry has grown.

Back in the day I was advised not to use my eGo batts with the LR for the reasons previously explained. It made sense to me because at the time an eGo batt replacement was $23 + shipping, compared to $9.98 for replacement batts for a 3.7V parallel box mod which was capable of handling the load. Most of the time it wasn't the battery that failed but the mosfet that blew. Without the mosfet although the batt was fine, it doesn't operate.

Simulate is the operative word... an LR on an eGo doesn't even come close to vaping a 2.5Ohm SLB at 5V, close but so far off in a way.

Why folks continue to insist vaping LRs on VV devices is absolutely beyond me, especially with the Provari and others. The protection circuitry shuts it down. Furthermore ProVape does not recommend LRs on the Provari, yet folks insist on it  with resultant error codes and sometimes blown chips.

Now the Darwin is a totally different kettle of fish, you dial in desired watts and regardless which atty is on the device, the device will provide the necessary voltage and current to meet the set wattage, big difference as the device was designed to handle it.

Example: Missy's Wetbox with its 0.5A switch - was never designed to handle LRs it was meant for cartos. It was never designed to handle IMR batts and LRs, yet folks continued doing so. COV had a disclaimer on their site wrt this, yet folks were .....ing about invalid warranties etc... Missy's wetbox was a failure from the get go because of the 0.5A switch, the minimal switch to be fitted to any device is 3A, or one that operates through a gate on a control signal. The reason why Missy's wetbox was not fitted with a 3A switch is that there was no room for the switch in the box.

So yes it gets frustrating constantly repeating myself with each new batch of vapers, basically I normally chose not to respond. In the original post someone wined about lack of warranty on the Lavatube, well my replay was obvious.

BTW I vape IO6 LRs on an eGo :) My P18 fitted with an eGo adapter and cone fired by an AW 18650. I also vape that set up at 6V using a 3.5Ohm atty. So bottom line folks pay attention to what you are doing. Take the advice of folks that have been around for a while, and more importantly know which advice is sound and which advice is pure chaff. Failing that, don't wine because your gear is broke.

Just want to chirp in here from my experience, not book knowledge.

I have been using a Joye 510 LR on my batteries since, well almost 1 year now, and I'm still using the same Joye eGo 650mah batteries I've had since day one. While the batteries certainly don't hold the charge quite as long as they did at first, they still work. I have since been using my Darwin and VV (Lava Tube) for the past month for a majority of my vaping so to put an actual number of months, I'll say 10 months, but they still work just fine.

I have also used 306 Lr's on the same batts and they work fine. Sure I can probably get a longer life on a daily basis and long term if I use a regular atty, but I simply don't enjoy the vape as much. It's worth the trade off IMHO. :)
see post #21

As stated I have no problem with folks that use the set up, everyone is allowed to vape to their satisfaction. What I am against as posted, is folks that refuse to believe they could be doing something wrong and blame the vendor or anyone else for that matter but themselves, often wining about it. That gets tiresome after a while and hence why we see very few vets responding to threads.

Now I'm not arguing that LRs are fine to use on Egos, I'm arguing that they were never "meant to" or "designed to."

This atomizer LR_atomizer_A__32444_thumb.jpg is 1.5 Ohms, is designed by JoyeTech, has Ego in the name, and won't even fit 99% of mods out there because the threading is recessed. It is totally made for the Ego.

I agree that consumers have to do research, but when something is marketed for a device, by the same people that make the device, it's kind of pushing it to suggest that a "normal" or "average" rational person would have to question their compatibility. Personally I would say it's irresponsible of the manufacturer, not the consumer... but hey, I live in a western nation where there's more accountability placed on the shoulders of manufacturers. I guess in China things are different.

I mean, if you don't agree, then why assume a DVD you bought at WalMart works on your DVD player? Why assume the gas you buy at Shell will work in your car? An even more apt comparison is say, buying a HP printer cartridge, advertised by HP to work on your HP printer, only to find out it routinely breaks your printer.

lol I don't even want to post this reply, cause I'm not looking to argue. Just giving my two cents.

We go back to say, they are a vendor and you (public) are buyers.

They read these forums daily and take advantage of our naiveté and provide us with something that everyone wants and has mentioned. If only I could get this or that to fit my eGo etc... well they are fulfilling your wishes, that is all. They fulfill the hype.

How can I spend less on vaping? Stop going to the forums :)

No need to worry concat, I realize you aren't looking to argue and I am in the same boat. I put the point I agree with completely in bold. The fact is joyetech is misleading customers into using LR on these batteries and has been for quite some time now, and that is the hard point to drive home.

Think about it like this; When you buy a laptop computer and you hear "Limited 1 year warranty" you assume it is for the whole of your computer, screen, HDD, keyboard, etc. However this is not true and your screen is only warrantied for 15 days after purchase, your keyboard is most often not covered at all and your HDD is actually covered for the whole year along with your motherboard and processor. So the "1 year warranty" ends up being completely conditional and if anything goes wrong then they will pretty much hang you out to dry if they don't cover the exact issue you are having.

Now much in the same way, Joyetech misleads their customers into thinking any atty that is 510 will work on the batteries and not effect them at all, but science doesn't back their theory up.

I know this seems a bit backwards, but I do use LR on a 1000 mah eGo to this day... But I accept the conditions of that arrangement and when a battery fails I just accept it and move on, not saying you wouldn't or are whining or etc cause you're not but I am just saying.
