Let me start at the end, based on my testing, ~I~ think there is likely little to worry about here regarding lead.
Now.. I'm a shooter, hunter, hacker, and generally hazardous sort of guy. So I first removed my shirt, washed my hands and forearms well, put on a fresh shirt. Cleaned a testing area and used two of the tests on the walls, table, and surrounding areas to make sure I was not going to contaminate them. I admit I also followed the instructions and tested my skin (I've watched a lot of X-Files, you never know).
I bought four packs of eight tests at $106 total. So first lesson, DON'T buy these at Lowe's at the last minute.
~I~ made the decision to cut walls and posts to test the CE2s as thoroughly as possible. I also tested some other things around. I used mostly new CE2s for testing but since some were used I tested the Vermillion, BWB, and Alien Visions
juice that had gone through them. ALL
juice was negative.
A total of nineteen CE2s were tested, seven 'fat wicks' that are newer from what I understand, twelve older ones. I also tested three SMOKtech dual-coil clear cartomizers, and one atomizer from a Njoy kit bought on the highway about a year ago.
Three of the twelve older CE2s tested
POSITIVE
Seven of the newer CE2s tested NEGATIVE
Three SMOKtech tested NEGATIVE
One
Njoy atomizer tested
POSITIVE
I tested the solder joints and the coils as best I could on all the CE2s. I tested right on the surface and then used a file to scrape the surface and test again. If it was negative before and after scrape, I moved on. If it was positive I cleaned it with 99% pure isopropyl and tested again to confirm. None of the tests generated conflicting results on the same subject.
(Included in those three positive older CE2s are the first two I did earlier in the thread, I retested as above to confirm.)
I also tested my mods and batteries and everything came out negative although I was expecting a positive on some brass parts. Didn't happen (yet).
I know people were waiting so I typed that out as fast as I could.... I'd normally put it in a table, edit it, etc. Sorry for the mess, I have some more work to do on the older CE2s to try to identify which came from where, what they have in common, what not, etc. Keeping baggies and notes here for any questions. Check back in with you later, Cheers, -Magnus
