For now, after only 2 days, yes. Don't be surprised though if cigs start to become less and less appealing. For weeks after I had stopped smoking entirely I still had the urge and desire to smoke and every time I did I was amazed at how incredibly disgusting they had become, and I LOVED smoking.

When I started vaping I never once denied myself a cig. I smoked every time I wanted to, I just tried to remember to puff a little vapor before every cig. Within a week I was down to 1 - 2 a day (from 1 - 1.5 pad), and those were no longer enjoyable. I was lighting them only to be reminded that the experience of smoking was revolting and putting them out after only a few puffs. I am serious, it was bizarre. Awesome but very bizarre, especially after so many failed attempts to quit over the years.

Don't beat yourself up for continuing to smoke, unless you really want to. If you are enjoying vaping then focus on that first.

Grats on your new and exciting endeavor. Vaping has changed many lives for the better, welcome to the club :D

It's not always an immediate change to vaping. Some people say they stopped right away, others over time. I've been vaping for about 3ish weeks now and (I'm kinda ashamed to say it) I still have an analog every now and again, mostly in the morning first thing after I wake up. However, I only smoke about 4 cigs a day at the most now, I've even managed to do a few days with strait vape. Baby steps.

Also I read somewhere that smokers who smoke within an hour or two after waking up have a harder time quitting compared to those who don't.

There is more than just nicotine you crave in cigarettes

Vaping does not give it all to you, just the major chemical...your craving in the morning for cigs probably stem from having the lowest levels of the other chemicals in the system. Still, as long as you slowly taper off all is well. One less tobacco cigarette is a start and you've cut your intake in half. Step by step process.

The hardest part of the journey is the first step--celebrate, you are already half-way there! :toast:

Really, do whatever works for you. I didn't intend to quit stinkys - but, I ran out - and I had some vaping stuff - so....I vaped, And - I quit just like that - and I was at mostly 2 packs a day at at time. Everyone has a different experience and if you feel that you need an analog here and there - that's pretty much fine with us - who are we to judge? YOU do what works for you - if we can help you to become 100% stinky free - that would be awesome. Until then - you have already made major steps that you should feel great about.

Thanks for the info guys.
I am amazed that vaping has cut my cig use by over half in just a few days.
I tried the patches and the gum in the past, and all it did was make me want
to smoke more as a result.
For the first time I am smoking LESS!
For decades I have reached for a cig as soon as I opened my eyes in the morning.
maybe I will have a longer slog than ya'll but I am still very optimistic that this WILL work.

PS

I just tried a little Wrangler Light from GoodeJuice and it's nice!

PPS

I need to add that I'm still getting used to vaping and the variable settings on my PV.
My old technique of short-strong pulls seems to be slowly morphing into long-easy pulls.
I'm also afraid of getting pulled over by a cop who may see me puffing on a tube with a wire while I'm driving around town. How will explain to him/her that I have a PV plugged into a USB in my van????
That's going to be an interesting conversation. Hopefully, they are a smoker.

So... When I wake up I need a cig. I have been vaping for only two days.
I have already cut my dependence on leafy-cigs from two to one PADs!
I am very happy that I can see cigs in a pack that I opened 24 hours ago.
Is it normal for me to need leafy-cigs in the am and be just fine with
vapes in the pm?

In hindsight, I wish I'd tapered off instead of switching to vaping full time, it might have saved me a bit of angst.

Switching to vaping was completely easy for me for the first three weeks, then it started.

I was danged if I was going to smoke a cigarette though, so had to tough out a really bad week. I'm through the worst of it now, and won't look back.

After one week vaping the urge to smoke immediately after waking was wearing off, it's taken me over five weeks to stop reaching or the cigarette packet which no longer exists but that still happens from time to time. Everybody is different, and you've only been doing this for two days. A lot has to do with the vaping equipment you are using too - once you get something that you enjoy and that satisfies your cravings many people seem to vape more and more while smoking less and less. There's plenty of information here about devices and liquids. Have a look at the nicotine content you are vaping and the device. You may need to increase the nicotine content in the liquid you are using earlier in the day.

Good luck with it!

There's a withdrawal from cigs for many of us...particularly when we reach the point of giving them up and vaping 100%. Cutting down on a 2 PPD habit is fantastic! Keep up the good work. It may even help to wean yourself off of them for a while.

The withdrawal lasted about 2 weeks for me, YMMV. However, you CAN push through it fairly easily with e-cigs. Gum, patches, lozenges didn't work as well for me. e-cigs did. I even quit for 7 months on the lozenges/gum once but still went back (was around smokers all the time too). However, I'm nearing 3 years smoke free with e-cigs. So I know it can be done.

You end up addicted to a lot of stuff with cigs...thousands of chemicals in there. e-cigs replace SOME of them. But the action/habit/flavor/inhaling/having vapor thing with e-cigs helps a lot IMO.

The MAOI's are a factor too...but we don't need to discuss that much right now. You can search for it on here...see WTA e-juice. It's a "discussable/debatable" subject. You may not need it though.

Make sure you get enough nic to stave off the cravings and that your gear is working. Also have backups.

Give it time. You will know. Keep us posted.

For me, that first cig in the morning was the last to go. The cravings for that one will probably diminish as you get to vaping more/smoking less during the day. The less you smoke over a given time span, the less you will crave in the future. With that in mind it's always about the ones you don't smoke.

I'd say you're doing pretty well to have cut back so much already! Just remember that you are making a long term change in your habits. Some people switch right over, but it's not always that easy. For a lot of people, long term changes are more of a gradual transition.

Hahaha, yep. I had the very same experience.

Calmly and honestly. You have nothing to hide. If they don't already know what a PV is, then they need to learn!

I was a pack a day smoker. I did not intend to quit smoking right away when I picked up my first APV (eVic). It was around 4pm and I went to a B&M. They had tons of juices for me to try and I found a couple I liked. I think this was key. It surprised the hell out of me to make it to 11pm w/out an analog. I thought to myself that I should just go to sleep w/out having an analog and see how it went the next day. Day 2 I didnt light one up and the rest is history.

My wife was a pack and a half a day smoker. She was very resistant to vaping. She complained it was too harsh on her. We figured it was the PG so we started ordering a bunch of 100% VG juices. She still didnt bite. About 5 weeks into me vaping she broke her foot and could not get out of bed to go outside and have an analog. Fortunately for her she could vape in bed. She has not had an analog ever since.

Moral of the story is if you cannot quit analogs on your own then have a good friend of yours break your foot.

I think it was a lot easier for me because I had been smoking American Spirits who claim to have zero additives. I'm fairly sure I was only addicted to the nicotine the day my EGO showed up, and I've not touched an analog since. I still have 12 analogs in the pack I was smoking the day my first EGO showed up lol... naasty stinky reminder of what NOT to go back to.

I might mention that I did smoke a cigar while on vactation last summer, but then again so did a few other non-smokers in my family. It just seemed right at the time, I was sure to not inhale, but boy did it taste like crap compared to the vanilla menthol blend I had at the time.

I'm like most others here. I played with it awhile, put it away, smoked the stinkies awhile, got the vape stuff back out,...several times. One day I smoked a cigarette AND THEN, I knew. I was done with those stinky things. I stuck with my eGos and clearos never felt better. It took some more time and some more money but I finally found a tank (Vision STV tank with replaceable heads) I also love with my eGos. Once in a while, I'll smoke one of my husbands cigarettes and it really reminds me how yucky they are.
I think the hardest part of it all was just breaking that habit of all those little things you go through just to light a cigarette. Once I got away from going through those motions, the awkwardness of the getting it all together to vape seemed to get less awkward. Vaping is probably the best thing that I've done for myself in a long time. Good luck to all you strugglers out there. Keep at it.
