Learned something about "squonking"

Hey everyone!

I finally had a chance to really put the mini through a good rigorous test this weekend. Spent the weekend with my parents, screaming nieces/nephews, and a 3 hour car ride both directions on a boring, routine stretch of nothing to look at highway. Needless to say, the mini got some serious bonding time with me!

I discovered that while "squonking", if you use a carto instead of an atty, you don't wanna squonk so long that you see the juice collect in the cup. If you do, you flood the carto really bad. I give the bottle a really light squeeze, 1 second at the longest, and then vape. Doesn't flood, but gives great flavor!!

Just wanted to throw this out to the peeps that use cartos instead. IDK if it will help anyone out, but it seems to be working flawlessly for me. If I let the cup bubble, I flood the carto everytime.

Yeah, when using cartos, I draw on it a bit while squonking. Sometimes I take the drip tip off to check the wetness of the polyfill.

Awesome Nicnurse!!! Glad you found a good technique. I always feel bad I can't help with cartos because I don't use them. I'm going to copy this to the tips & tricks thread.

i'm zeroing in on my first mod and keep coming back to the juice box concept and the reo seems like a solid build with a good rep. I'm getting the drift about squanking or squonking but confused about how the juice gets into a cartomizer from a bottom feeder. My notion of a bottom feeder (having never seen one except online) is that the juice is squirted from the bottle on to the atomizer somewhat like when one drips but how does that even work if it's a carto--perhaps an even more basic question is in order: does the juice sort of well up inside of a 510 or 306 atty through the hole at the battery end? What is the "needle"? is this the right place to ask this or is there a noobie reo noobie juicebox mod section somewhere with little FAQs and pictures...been on this forum a year and still find new stuff almost every time i come back with a serious question in mind.

Maybe this will help. Juice travels from the bottom, up the air tube, and saturates the batting material around the coil. If you draw on the carto hard enough while squonking, you might get juice in your mouth. The trick is to get the juice to the batting material and no further. While drawing on the carto without squonking, you're just pulling air thru it. That's what you want. The vaporized juice mixes with the air while your inhaling and gives you vapor.
