My diy recipes are very simple 1,2, or 3 flavors. Some of the complex recipes I see just make me want to run in the opposite direction - lol. It's way more trouble then I'm willing to go thru just to vape it up in a few days time. But that's just me. Kudos to those of you that have the where-with-all to "go the distance". I've been wanting to try unflavored e-liquid and now that a I have a few 10 ML bottles on hand I gave it a try. My nic level for such a small batch is only .67 ml (My base is 24 mg in 100% PG) 13 drops approx. then a bit of PG and 8 ml of VG (80vg/20PG final mix) I must say, it's not half bad ! After I vaped some (dripping on derringer) I thought maybe I could do this for a day or so, or maybe longer. Might get bored with it after several days. Maybe not tho. Then I thought, what if I were to add just one drop of just one flavor, so It's still basically unflavored, but has just a hint of something. I stuck a wooden toothpick in my TFA Peppermint, stuck the toothpick in the e-liquid,(actually, I did it twice) and viola ! I'd be hard pressed to know it was peppermint, if I hadn't been the one to add it. It's just a hint of something minty. This might be something I continue doing. It's quick, it's easy, and darn near pure! I bet others are already doing this. I'm slow to experiment :(

Cheers !

Vaping plain base is a great way to refresh your palet after over whelming them with to much flavor and adding that hint of peppermint adds a wonderful refreshing note to a plain base. I do this all the time (TFA's spearmint). Also I agree with you 100% that it's not nessessary to use 100 flavorings in a mix to get a decent vape. Although there's nothing wrong with that and it's a lot of fun to experiment, some of my best ADV's are simple 2 or 3 flavor mixes. You may not be the first to figure this out but it's nice to see someone really think out there approach to vaping. Nice going and keep it up.

I use unflavored base to prime my wicks and occasionally vape my unflavored base. all my flavors are one or two flavors and I find them quite satisfying. people who try my DIY juice say that it is smooth and taste.you do not need a lot of different flavors to get a good tasting vape. my adv is TFA black honey with a little vanilla bourbon. I also really like TFA bavarian cream with a little vanilla bourbon. but i'm a firm believer in the K.I.S.S principle. less to go wrong that way:lol:

I was curious about reading many enjoying unflavored around here, and as I often found myself to get bored of my adv and not really being able to taste it much after some time anyway(vapers toungue I guess), then I also decided to try it out, and am really glad I did! :)

At first I found it to be just decent, but as I decided to stick with it some more, then I now absolutelly love the subtle nice taste of vg and the nic, and it both dosen't get bored, but actually seems to get more enjoyable as time goes on, so I now have no plans on ever changing back.

From a health point it also seems as a wise move...

An added benefit is also that I now have to change wicks much less often...

Finally, then my diy process has becomme quicker and also cheaper.

I thought about those things too, mhertz. I think vaping in general is a LOT safer then smoking, but I also believe that one of the things that are in the danger zone are the flavors. Not the PG, not the VG and sure and heck not the Nicotine ! Maybe a few other things we can improve on to make it even safer. We vapors are still in the infancy stage imo. Even though many have been vaping for 5 or more years. I have a lot of half empty flavors in my vape pantry... if they don't get used up, I won't be super disappointed.

I have used Unflavored Off and On over the Years. Just never got into it.

Recently I got an Idea.

What would happen if I put a Few Drops of Sucralose in some Unflavored. It wouldn't so much be Flavored. Just a tad of Sweetness to Give it Something.

So I tried it. And know... It Isn't that Bad.

I have Also been Experimenting with "Flavored Wicks". That is when you put a Fresh Wick in, that you Prime it with a Regular Flavored e-Liquid, but then fill that Tank with Unflavored.

I am Amazed how 5 or 6 Drops of Regular e-Liquid on a New Wick can give a couple of Tanks worth of Unflavored a Hit of Flavor (HOF). And how that Hint of Flavor is enough to Hold my Interest.

I also like that I am Reducing my Flavoring intake. Which I Can't See as being a Bad Thing.

I too often use only a few drops of flavoring in my DIY just to get a hint of a specific flavor. I also vape unflavored fairly often - probably at least 25% of the time if not more. Both my VG and nic (also 100% VG) are slightly sweet so it's not completely flavorless. When I'm not vaping flavorless, I'm usually vaping a DIY Tobacco Absolute which requires a miniscule amount of flavoring.

Yes, unflavored isn't flavorless which some people think. Vg is slightly sweet and nice tasting and the nic gives it that little bit of an edge. The pg brings nothing to the table with unflavered tastewise imho. It's a, to me, very sweet and bitter taste, reminding very much of alcohol. The sweetness of vg I find very naural tasting, like e.g. a mild honney type of sorts.

Currently, I don't believe any flavors are considered to be safe for vaping. Yeah, you can avoid the stuff we know for certain is bad, but as flavor compounds haven't really been extensivelly tested for inhalation, in contrary to the wealth of multi-year studies of inhalling pg or vg, we just don't know for certain.

Another +1 for unflavored to reset the palette and sharpen the taste buds. In fact I think it might have been a post from you that started me doing that a long while back.

Add a very slight note of peppermint, spearmint or koolata and it's like a breath of cool winter air.
