That's the one I wanted in the first place.
What is it about purple anodization? Is it too costly? Too hard? Why would an anodizer shy away from it?

I could be wrong...but I think it's not about shying away from it so much as they tend to work with a set amount of colors that sell well. Some have different colors than others. Different anodizing shops sell a different array of colors. At one time green wasn't available. So it all depends on what shop he is using. Right now he is using the shop that has performed the best.
