You know what scares me the most about all this. I was one of the people stupid enough to try one of those "prescriptions" to stop smoking. I'm still afraid to admit what it did to me.
Chantix, an approved NRT has suicidal thoughts, hallucinations and paranoia among other things as side effects that was approved by HC.

Neither Big Pharma nor the people charged with the health of the nation can be trusted. Either are incompetent, corrupt or both.

I understand the CLA wouldn't endorse ecigs if they are not 'approved' by HC, but I must wonder why they are speaking out against them?
Could the fact they receive sponsorship by big pharma be an indicator? Well...I would say yes. Many of the health organizations receive gov't assistance and big pharma funds, it is an endless circle of pay and promote.
Corporate Sponsors

I don't think the CLA will budge on their stance, regardless of who screams and preaches. The best thing to do to create change, is to vape and educate. Until scientific proof is offered on the efficacy and harm reduction principle of ecigs, the argument will go on and on.
It is a strange and misleading world.

Canadian lung association Their biggest fear now is that we will educate the public.[/QUOTE]

This just got me thinking... Other than what we all just did with the CLA, is any group responding to social media and online news when things like that are published? I know CASAA has their call to actions for hearings and meetings, but I think given the influence of social media these days, someone should be responding to false, flawed or misleading information posted online by supposed "trusted" sources.
If there isn't, does anyone see a benefit to starting one?

Here is a copy of an email that I sent to my Provincial Lung Association as well as a response to the article published today:

Further to: January 21, 2013 Canadian Lung Association: Don’t be fooled by e-cigarettes! During National Non-Smoking Week (January 20-26, 2013), the Canadian Lung Association encourages people to quit using proven methods

I have been smoking cigarettes for about 25 years and was unable to quit. Recently I was in the USA and talked to an individual that was a 2 pack a day smoker that had not smoked in about 2 weeks by using e cigarettes and personal vaporizers. I had heard about the e cigarettes but was not ready to waste me money on some hokey device however this evidence was compelling. So, I went to the shop, not with the intention of quitting smoking, but to simply try it out. That was 18 days ago and I have not had an urge to smoke tobacco at all. I can't believe this...it is truly amazing. The Canadian Lung Association and all of the advertising on the packages of cigarettes of the ravages that smoking can tobacco can do I have to say, although hard to look at really didn't do anything because I SIMPLY COULD NOT STOP.
I am thrilled not to be a slave to tobacco and the other 4000 or so chemicals, carcinogens and toxins in them.
