This is the "Sumptuous Beast" from Hot Vapes do you see what I mean on how it doesn't fit?

(not that I bought it to go with my girly pink tank, lol)
I don't know how likely it is that there would be any glass blowers within your vincinity that could "trim" the base down as Shatner said?

Given that, your ownly recourse would be to contact Hot Vapes stating that the tip as is is useless and since they charge a pretty penny for them--make it right. I have a few of those same style tips and they all fit, if somewhat tight. That's a pretty drip tip, by the way. ;)

If you get nowhere with them, perhaps drop OCD a line in the IBTanked thread in the suppliers sub-forum. I'm not sure if he does any glass blowing or only cuts glass, but he could give you ideas on what to do, too. Below is that link:

It's very likely she lives within an hour of one. It's getting super popular.
I can find one in her area. What city and state are you in, Kayo? I'll put up a post on the lampworker forum. Or you can, actually. www.talkglass.com

When you find one on that forum, check their post history and their photos on http://www.glassartists.org/ and [nws]pipe makers.org[/nws] to make sure they do good work and are legit. Use google search in the top right of the page. You dont want that nice driptip to be destroyed by some n00b who thinks he'd God's gift to lampworking. I'm 100% serious, unfortunately. :(

Those are also great resources to find scientific glassblowers or if you've been wanting to get some glass art.

That tip could very easily be ground on a flat lap too. Not even 5 minutes. I'm glad he's letting you send it back though. :)

True, but it's be more fun to watch a glassblower do his/her thing. :)

If you do flat lap it, use proper ventilation and a 3M mask rated for dust/particulate!!! Make sure o round the edges a bit so they're not sharp. And clean it very well before use.

Thinking about it, the whole clear section may need to be trimmed off. Thus, lapping wouldn't work. The lampworker would weld a new piece of tube to the color section and marver 2 rings for the o-rings. 2, because that's what Trippy Tips does. And fixing it should make it original, imo. Or as close as possible. That's how I run my ship, anyway.

I carved this one out of translucent Guatemalan jade. I need to give it a final polish, then it'll really shine.

I've only ever used the generic, black plastic drip-tips. Are these only for aesthetics, or do they somehow enhance performance?

If you like dripping, many of them allow you to drip onto the atomizer coils without removing the tip. A lot of it is also the "cool" factor, however, some of the tips are really comfortable in the mouth....much more so than the standard plastic tips. Just get yourself a large Ming or Vase-type drip tip and give it a try - you will probably notice a huge difference.
