From what I remember of the chatter, the Isticks are PWM chips. They will run hotter at lower voltages. PWM provides around 25-30% more power than the actual setting.

Hey guys, my KFL+ clone arrived today exactly two weeks after I placed the order.I set it up in nano mode and it seems like it's the perfect size for me. I still haven't built my first coil on it, but willl once I watch a few youtube tutorials. I hope it hits as well as the KFM. So far I notice it's basically the same thing but with two screws on the bottom. I'm guessing one is a fill hole and the other airflow control. I'll know once I watch a few videos on it.
Anyway, I've been having some issues with my Eleaf iStick. It seems to run hot when fully charged even at the lowest settings. After an hour or so of vaping it seems to level off, and then it works perfectly. I was planning on buying a couple more of them but will hold off until they come up with a newer version which hopefully will address the issue. It's a bummer because it's perfectly sized. I'll probably get another MVP2 instead now.
As has been reported in many places... the iStick is using PWM output and it is using vAVG instead of vRMS to calculate what the setting shows you. This is the same issue that was seen years ago when PWM devices were first becoming popular... on the Vamo ( called simply AVG and RMS on these devices ), the issue was resolved with the v2 model which included both the AVG and RMS setting.
In reality... vAVG isn't wrong per se... it just isn't the same amount as what you'd experience with a pure DC output device at the lower settings and the difference is less as you increase the voltage output... they should have used vRMS which similates the value that someone vaping on a pure DC output device like a Provari, DNA ( China DNA ) or similar device.
In most cases... you can simply adjust the output to what feels right to you ( lower voltage )... in reality, you should do that anyway. The only problem is at the lower voltage settings you may not be able to adjust down further in some cases.
If you get a chance , try it with duals or a heavier gauge lower ohm build and see what you think .Retic, just put a .7ohm, .26g, 3/32"id with a split cotton wick on the Rose. Slapped it on the Gus and filled it with Shadow. Wow. Thank you for pushing me towards this. Plenty of juice capacity, great flavor, good vapor. Impressed. I'm not real sure if the VV3 has enough oomph to satisfactorily run a KFL + on , at some point you'll want to transition away from the throw away devices just to save money .I'm thinking maybe the Innokin VV3 could do for now, until the MVP3 comes out. It looks small and it may fit my needs. Plus it's priced at around $25.

It's more or less tied into what the battery can provide consistently , I have some VV ego style batteries laying around and they just can't provide consistent power across the voltage range on them . I don't subohm Kayfuns , they weren't designed with that in mind and they're not good for it . I build Kayfuns in the 1.2 - 1.5 range . Most of the clearomisers meant to run on an Ego style battery use thin high gauge wire 32-34ga and the Ego batts just don't have the oomph to deliver a consistent vape with heavier wire no matter the resistance or power level IMO .I just think the current mods and the big batteries will become obsolete in a while when smaller ones with the same capabilities come out. Just like it happened with cell phones, you know? Also, I don't think I'll ever build a coil below 1.5ohm, so I'm not sure if I really need that extra oomph. You don't think it could handle that type of build?

It's probably your best bet for now , the MVP has great power delivery characteristics across it's range , have you tried shopping around ?So I guess it's another MVP2 for now. I wish they sold them bare bones without clearos or anything. IMHO, both the iClear16 and 30 suck, so it's basically a waste to include them with every battery.

Yes I have. So far the best deals seem to be from 101vape ($40) and 3Avape ($35). After I get one of those I'll wait for the MVP3 or a newer version of the iStick to come out.
