OMG, Dusty ! I would have been cursing up a storm ! But then I saw in a later post that you had 'worked' the threads together gently. Did you use any kind of lubricant on those threads ?
Is this the LP/SL Grand that you were working it with ?

The only lubricant was the sweat on my forehead.. Cursing and getting upset was not an option, as I would have bungled it up.

I did have some words in private with it, but then we decided on giving it our best shot as long as it did not mess up my LP/SL Grand.

Rubber gloves, and a lot of patience got it done. :D

So I am officially looking into a Squape R clone. The original is just too expensive (even for me). I need the W deck and the clones come with it. I've never ventured into the clone world. But $200 for a tank is just too much (if I like the clone, I'll probably spring for the original later this year).

Watching reviews and reading up on them. At the moment leaning towards the EHpro version.

:pop:

I'll take one too. :)

Keep me posted on your findings. I've always thought the Squape was HUGE though.

David it is huge. There's a nano conversion kit that May or may not fit on the clone. Or maybe they'll clone the nano kit too? I'm nervous but it's $40 so I'm not out too much if it doesn't work.

It's about 1/2" longer than the KFL's without taking the driptip into account. Would love to see a side-by-side of the two of them. It's a good tank other than that though.

I've bought a few of the shorty drip tips from HHV. They are not quite 1/2" shorter than standard tips. They do help to reduce the overall length of my KF 3.1's.

Wick question for Dusty - how similar are your ErlP wicks to your Aqua wicks? Shape, shoulders, amount of rayon going into the juice channel - that kind of thing.

I'm struggling a little with getting the right amount of wick into the juice channels on the Aqua. It's wicking okay, but seems a little less than optimal. It's not dry hitting. But if I take a vape too close to the last vape, I can tell the wick is not quite saturated enough.

Retic, please share any info on your Aqua wicks. Thanks!

For my Aqua, I cut the wicks at a slant from the deck to the top of the juice channels. So, basically get them in classic bow-tie shape, and then snip right from deck to the top. All that requires is then to cut a little bit of the length if it does not sit right in the channel.

Like this.. cut along the green line. Rough drawing but you'll get the point. :)

So you are not cutting the thickness of the wick that trails into the channel? Cutting it in half like they do for the Prinz?

I've been trimming it back to keep it from hanging over the threading.

Pretty much the same as Dusty , trimming on an angle and running the wick to the bottom of the channels , I also trim again after wetting and placing them in the channel to make sure nothing protrudes to get caught in the threading , habitual from building the Rose .

It's the threading throwing me off. I got so concerned about keeping it clear that I thinned too much. Also, my cut angle was wrong. Thanks!

I do love the way you can just cut and stuff wicks on drippers. I'm spoiled now. :)

I watched a reviewer yesterday (someone I had never seen before from the Vaping Lounge) do an Aqua build. He did long straight cotton wicks and stuffed as much as he could into all four channels. Laid them in the channels, stuffed them in with a screwdriver, then worked the tag back upward into the channels bunching in it some more.

Wow, that's the opposite of an ErlPrinz wick. Many warnings not to stuff the wick into the channels. It's interesting learning the nuances of each tank, and figuring out how to build it just right.

Yup , this one kinda fell in my lap from building the Rose , not enough wick in the channels and it'll flood , too much and the threading grabs it , my eyeballs are trained for estimating the amount of wick to use , you'll adapt in no time . :)
