26 is generally too fat and slow for coils. 32 is too thin to build microcoils. 28 and 30 are the mot popular. Either one will work. I use 30 myself as I found 28 was a little slow to heat up. But then I don't use a lot of power.

That's really good to know. Since the juices I plan to use on it need more heat than regular ones, 30 actually makes more sense for me now that I think about it. :)

Just one more thing before I press the checkout button...does the silica from gotvapes have a good rep? I'm getting 3.5ft of it.

Edit- I'll get 7ft of silica, and a 30ft spool of 30 kanthal then. Should be enough while I get my feet wet, right?

I have no idea. Got Vapes generally sells decent stuff. Silica is silica to me. 3.5 feet can go in a hurry. Get a few of them.

LOL! If I were an experienced builder, I definitely wouldn't be bothering you guys with so many dumb questions. :D I plan on buying the multimeter from Walgreens or K-mart. I own several Spinners and an MVP2, which I can use it to measure ohm's, etc. Do I need more stuff? One last stupid question...does the kanthal have to be 28? Does 26 or 30 make a huge difference? If it's basically the same thing, I could just buy everything I need from Gotvapes in one order (RDA, wick, and wire),
Nah , even experienced builders ask for opinions and advice , sometimes just to get a good argument going . :) Judging by Bronze's reaction he was a little surprised too . BTW there are no stupid questions , nobody knows everything , ask away .

Volt's been talking about building for the last year and a half and he still hasn't done it.

Cut me some slack, General! I've reached a comfort zone with my clearomizers, so I really haven't had the urge to build stuff. Having said that, now that I started on this stuff, I guess there's no turning back. Next order of business is getting myself a Magma. :)

Volt, you'll wonder why you didn't do it a long time ago. :)

Did you get your wick and wire ordered?

Yep! I should be building my first coils by Friday. :)

I almost ordered a rebuildable a while back, but after skimming over Bronze's tutorial and noticing there were like 50 steps, I said screw that stuff. LOL!

Often times when someone is describing how to do something and they want to be sure that there is no misunderstanding... they'll do a step by step that appears like more work than it really is. If you just look at the summary it's much simpler... in as few as 3-4 steps depending on the type of coil being made

Wrap the coil on the size of rod, drill bit, mandril etc you plan on using.
If making a compressed micro-coil.... remove it from what you wrapped it on and compress it and heat it
Thread the wick material of your choice through the coil
Mount it on the RBA or RDA

You took the words right out of my mouth RD.

One can zip through a handful of steps in no time at all.

Sort of Chak. Perseas had them made for his GP line. He sends them out when you order a mod from him. Has them available on his sight too I believe. I've got two, only use one. Got one with the XLux and one with the Ti I ordered.

If you want it, I'll ship it to the land of Tai Sticks. Let me know eh?

Hey that's mighty kind of you, Calve. I'll PM you the address and we can work out the details. :toast:

    Thanks Bronze!

Happy Birthday, Slim!!! Sorry I'm late.

    It's in Thailand already ?

    It's in my hand already!

Okay, that's all I needed to hear.

Now I noticed they're out of 28 ga kanthal. Any other reliable US vendors for it that you know of?

Yo Voltron, you won't be sorry going with the Magma. Just got mine today and it's kicking ....! Built my first ever dual coil set up and it's working like a champ on some 70/30, 12mg Huntsman. I didn't go sub-ohm as I wanted to try it out on my Provari, so I shot for 1.3 ohm and got 1.35 - 1.4 ohm. I used 30 ga Kanthal and 11 wraps round a 2mm mandril. Then pulled some Rayon wick through and filled 'er up. Got the Provari set at 4.2 V, so that's about 12.6 W - taste is awesome and TH is banging the back of my throat like a hammer! Maybe I'll take voltage down a notch or two.

It's a serious dripper, no doubt!

The only downer is that there's quite a gap between the tank and the Provari. Oh, and I didn't get quite 40 drops in the tank. Maybe 25 plus what was in the wicks already, so I'd say 30 drops, give or take.

Oh yeah, it does not sit well on the Provari. Needs a device with an adjustable centre pin for sure.
